I had a hinkling I was pregnant when we went to the grocery store and the stench of raw chicken made me dry heave. I went home, took two tests and it was confirmed (it was labor day weekend) I told my entire family the same day and i was about...ohhh....6 weeks at the time. There was no way i could have kept it a secret, even though I didnt show until 5 months. I am a jabber jaw!

I found out on my b-day while I was on vacation in Peru, it was amazing, I was just 6 weeks and announced it during the surprise party my parents threw for me,it was awesome  .

Mommies I'm leaving to Peru on Saturday night, taking a direct flight via Lan Chile the only problem is that Sofia will sitting on my lap (yeah right). The prices for her own seat where outrageous, way too much, so we decided to not buy her own seat.

I'm freaking out about it, I'm so nervous, I know that is direct and during the night while she sleeps (sometimes happens) but still, I don't want to be uncomfortable, I don't wanna make nobody uncomfortable. I have tomorow to start packing and run some errans before leaving, it's so crazy, I'm missing my hubby already, I know I bother him so much about this trip but a part of time doesn't want to go now (did I say that??)

See you tomorrow girls!!!

Vi, I would have mixed feelings too if I was travelling alone with the baby. You will get thru it. Do you have a sling or carrier you could put her in? Bring lots of snacks and things to get her attention. She will probably fall asleep at some point but I have a feeling you will be quite uncomfortable. That seems like a long trip to hold baby. It will be over before you know it and you will be so happy to be with your family. Have a safe and fun trip!

I found out when I was 5 weeks...I thought I would get my my period because I had the usual symptoms I always had, but stronger, and I remember I was in a bad mood...and told my husband how upset I was because of my symptoms...and my breasts were reaaallyyyy hurting a lot. A few days later my hubby was calling me asking how was I feeling and if I ever got my period, I told him no, and he suggested to buy a pregnancy test, and I told him no, because I was sure I would get it soon, and I didn't want to be dissapointed, but at the the end he bought it, he took it home with him after work and I read the instructions and decided not to do it that day....LOL, but the pregnancy test was staring at me...lol. I did it late that night, and it was positive, I was so nervous, then took my husband from the computer and I told him to check the test, and he told me you are pregnant!!!, and I told him noooo, maybe you bought the cheapest one!lol I am going to buy another to be sure, but he already wanted to call everybody to let them know, I had another next test the next afternoon and it was positive...again  . To tell my parents who live in Peru I called and told my brother to connect the web cam so I could see their reaction, I told them and they were soooo happy, they started to cry  and of course me too...The first weeks I was like in shock...now I am just soo happy...Well ladies have to go to work, have a great day!

I do not know if this will apply to you but when I flew with Eman ( who was 3 weeks old at the time), I did not buy a seat for him. But when I checked in, the lady who helped me was so nice. She checked to see if there were any open seats and put in a row that had two open chairs. From that day on, anytime I flew I would ask them for any open seats. You should ask and see. And sometimes, even when you are on the plane you can wait until everyone is seated and look around for any empty seats and ask the flight attendant if you can move. They are usually nice about that, especially if you are a mommy.

@ Vi: I flew alone with Jona when he was 8 months old, direct flight SFO-Frankfurt. I brought my baby carrier and had him in there while boarding and before. I wore a nursing shirt, especially designed as such (Motherhood Maternity store) so when I nurse him nobody will have evil eyes cast on me. Nobody did btw. I did not get the booked bassinet seat and the plane was full. Jona did great. At that point he wasn't eating solids yet so that was no concern. He even was teething while flying. He nursed, fell asleep for 5-6 hours and woke up, nursed. He then woke up over Great Britain which is basically when you already descend it it's less than an hour from arriving. He played, laughed and nursed some more. As soon as we landed, I put him in the baby carrier, nice passengers helped me getting my carry-on (the flight attendants were rude and impolite!), and off we went. He fell asleep again right away in the carrier and didn't wake up til we put him in the car seat....

I must say that the people who sat right next to me were really nice. They told me about their kids, were surprised how big he got on nursing only, helped me with Jona so I could use the bathroom and so on. :)

Ladies I'm here and in the middle of packing, I told my mom yesterday about me arriving on Sunday and I'm sure that by now half of my country know it. I was thinking about asking about any open sits, that will be great, I hope it works for me. I asked about the crib but Sofia is too big for it, the baby has to be 4 months or less.

I'm definitely bringing my baby carrier I'm sure t will help tons. Some small toys, snacks, diapers, wipes, chang of clothes,a blanket what am I missing??? somebody mention Tylenol for the flight, have you tried it???

hello ladies

I have just posted a couple of times in this forum, but I read it every day i am a fan,and I guess I wanted to post just to tell Vi that I can completly relate to what she is feeling about her trip to Peru since I am going through the same right now; I am travelling to Colombia alone with the baby next friday and as you i have mixed feelings about it, sometimes I feel like cancelling everything but I my family is very excited about meeting Matthew andI want to see them too, but I am not looking forward to the flight, and sinceMatthew is not breast fed and is very particular with his bottle I am thinking he won't sleep and it will be a nightmare.

Well i guess i just wanted to share

And I've seen all the pictures of your babies and they are adorable

this is my little guy,he is 9 months

Vi, we hope to fly to Morocco when Rayan is close to a year old. I'll probably take Tylenol with me for possible ear pain, but I've rarely used it. I hope to be still nursing, and I hope that will calm him and alleviate any ear pressure, although these days he's starting to get pretty squirmy. At five months, swaddling still calms him down a lot, usually to sleep, when I nurse him at the same time (makes him mad until he gets the milk :-)). He doesn't like a paci, at least at this point. I'm thinking about new or favorite toys and books, possibly white noise or favorite music through a headset.

Anna, Jona didn't eat solids yet at 8 months? We're waiting until at least 6 months, but what signs did you look for that he was ready for solids? Rayan can't sit up unassisted yet, and I think that's one of the recommended criteria.

I'm the USC.

Vi

Matthews pediatrician told us to have tylenol in the diaper bag, but she talked more about benadryl(sp), she told us in case he develop some kind of rush or something during the flight, and also told us to get an appoinment for a quick visit the day before the flight so she can give her a shot that is supposed to give some temporary protection to chicken pox and some other desease since he is not old enough to get the real thing
