@ Nessa: :D It's a hairband. But it sure looks like a snake or so.... I had to take a pic back then to confirm the second line... It looked fainter in real life...

@ chnst: Did you get equate brand ones? The internet cheapies are pink dye tests... Haven't had a chance to try them yet, but the ovulation tests of the same brand I will try the upcoming cycle. If you really feel like needing to know, go for it and get the FRER ones or clear blue early digital ones (they both measure 20 mg/ml HCG).... It must be horrible... At least I get like that... That's why I bought the big pack from Amazon, hehehehe. ;)

@Stina: aww I hope Kavi feels better soon. Ben has pneumonia too. He has had a bad cough for a couple of weeks, then had a really high fever and was vomiting every time he coughed. It was so bad. Our pedi tried to put him on oral zithromax and it got better. Thank God I was worried we'd have to spend the holidays at he hospital for i.v. ab.

I had a really bad pneumonia as a child after I got back from Africa and they gave me those antibiotic in the thigh, and it really was bad, especially when you're sooo sick, it makes it even worse. They did help a lot faster, I think after 2 or 3 days I was feeling a lot better. Did they give Kavi a prescription for nebulizer? that has helped Ben a lot with breathing.

@Anna: I have to go back to walmart or target and get the pink tests... I decided to wait a few more days to be sure. our dollarstore doesn"t sell pregnancy tests unfortunately.

You can sell the pump, but the other mom needs to buy new tubing and shields and stuff... I mean when I rented the hospital one, they just give you a new set of that stuff, or even sterilize it... But the Freestyle is pretty fancy... Free hands pumping, woohoo!

@ chnst: Wow $13 must have been FRER or clearblue... Don't buy the blue dye tests, they tend to get evaporation lines which get your hopes up but mean a negative result... Pink dye is better.... FRER (first response early result) picks up pregnancies really early. I hear good words about Dollar Store tests too. I got myself the internet cheapies but if they ever give me a faint line I'll go to Walmart (ours is 24/7) and get myself FRERs and their box of 5 clear blue digital ones for $20. ...

Btw, here's the pic of the FRER when it was positive early on: DSC01359.jpg

It sucks, but it is not recommended to use a personal use breastpump that has been used by someone else. The only ones that are made to be reused (with new tubing, etc.) are the hospital grade pumps because they are a closed system. The Freestyle is not supposed to be reused.

aww I tested for Ben on Labor day. hahahaha. I don't know my temp, to be honest I don't check that. We just figured we'd give it a try and see how it goes. If it doesn't work in a few months then I will do all the fertility stuff.

@ Caro: Wow my lines were only that dark after 4 weeks... :)

@ Autumn: Good to know... I had no idea. I rented a hospital grade pump thought the first weeks, and that one was so good.

@ chnst: That's how we did it with Jona. I got pregnant right away, hahaha. I think it will work easily now too, but charting is actually fun and also my method of contraception... There is a webpage, fertilityfriend, that's pretty cool. It charts for you (you just enter your data) and it really is interesting.

If it is similar to the Graco Snugride, you don't need the base to strap it in. There are side spaces for the belt strap to go through. The one downside, the strap goes over your baby, whereas with the base the strap comes nowhere near them. I would love to fly to Vermont for my spring break. I just don't know if I am brave enough to tackle two flights with the twins by myself!

I brought the base of the car seat when I went with the boys to Puerto Rico just because I knew they would be in a car ride when we got there and I am super nervous about kids being in the car without being properly strapped in. If you don't want to bring it on the plane, they will let you check it in and I don't think it counts as baggage. They didn't count my stroller either. Have fun in Peru! I am so jealous you will be there & so will Luis :(

Oh & I also checked their pack n' play in as baggage, it was such a help to have a crib/playpen for them to go in when we got there. I don't know if you have one but if you do I would consider bringing it, it makes life a whole lot easier.

@ Vi: Bring it. Worst case you have to strap it in without the base, but the flight attendants will store the base properly. You will want to have it in a car because the seats are much safer when the base is used. We will fly next month to a wedding in MI, but of course Jona is way bigger and in a Britax Boulevard. We will bring it of course, he has is own seat. Same goes for the San Francisco May wedding and the Germany trip in August. I found having Jona on my lap super exhausting on my last flight to Europe, it also isn't as safe as if baby has her own seat... They let you bring the carseat and stroller for free when flying. Also, baby gets to bring a 50lb bag, at least with Lufthansa (for a lap baby, ticket baby gets two bags as always)... Have fun!

Vi, that's how we did it too and plus if you'll be taking taxis in Peru. Check the side of the Graco car seat, it has the drawing on how to use it without the car seat base :)
