@Anya: You are about to be fascinated and amazed at how far your body can stretch…and what a perfect, miraculous thing it is because it can grow a little person

@Vi: Is Sofia eating solids yet? You could also start introducing a sippy cup. When I was doing research for us, a lot of mommies mentioned that they were able to go directly from breast to sippy, and bypass the bottle

@Team J and B, Ravenesque, Berber mama: Congrats! Hope you all have easy and happy pregnancies, and happy healthy babies.

Saludos,

Caro

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!

I'm kinda glad my monkeys will be close in age. If I can survive two, having a third in a couple of years will be no problem. We don't need to try to get pregnant. My husband just needs to look me in the eye and *BAM* I'm fertilized.

Tnh9479 - our kids share the same birfday. Mine was due January 25th, too bad he was early. I wanted him later in the month.

Hey everyone! Nice to see some new mommies to be on here!!!

Vi. I agree with what Caro said. Although I didnt breastfeed I took Zaid COMPLETELY off the bottle at 10 months. We introduced a cup at 6 months and he took it fine. We started with formula in a cup at 9 months, transitioned to milk at 10mos, and never looked backed. I was so glad to be rid of bottles. They are nice for putting baby down for naps and bed but that is how I taught Zaid to self soothe and put himself to bed. He has slept thru the night EVERY night since 5 months old or so.

Everything has been good here. Zaidster is talking up a storm. He is starting to communicate in short sentences and is SLOWLY getting away from those tantrums we experienced the past few months. His new obsession is dinosaurs and lizards and he loves to go visit my brother and see the chameleon, which btw he says sooo cute! he says "Ah-meleeeon" :) hehe

We are fighting off another bad cold he came down with yesterday but it seems like lots of clementines, water, and the humidifier are really helping. Im hoping to have a nice healthy boy for xmas. I cant wait for him to see all his cousins. They play so cute together at this age.

@ Evi: Oh that is tough... Especially when your brother who has no kids tries to give advice ;)

Congratz to all the new mamas to be!

@VI: Jona started sleeping through the night but has bad or good nights, but the past 4 days he actually slept through! I didn't expect that until age 2 at all, really. Once he started solids on a regular basis (about 2-3 months ago) I was ok with nightweaning gently which helped a lot. So we never had him crying alone or anything like that. Dr. Jay Gordon has great tips on gentle nightweaning. It should be a slow, gentle process. Also for the sake of your breasts, sudden nightweaning will majorly engorge you.

I think getting Eman off of the bottle is what helped him sleep through the night. I waited until he was a little over 1 to do that. He would wake up for his bottle 2-4 times a night. Didn't matter if he drank anything, as long as it was in his mouth. It was the toughest thing to do but my little Emu bunny was so smart. I made him take his bottles and throw them out and when he would wake up at night for one, I would remind him that he threw them out himself. After 3-4 days of that, he gave up and started sleeping through the night.

Lately he has been talking in his sleep and waking up saying things like, "Mommy, this needs batteries" and will not go back to sleep until I respond...lol...

Congrats and welcome to Team B AND J and Ravensque :D

When I joined I didnt bother going back and reading the whole thread. Sisters here are very nice and would answer all questions over n over again.

Well its been a whiiiiile since i ve been here. Zaine is 10 weeks now, We have good days and veryyyyy bad days!! for some reason he still pushes so hard everytime he wants to poop or pass gas he cries and gets pretty fussy about it. This can last hours until something actually comes out!! the Dr. is clueless saying eevrything seems normal so I dont know what to do! I cry about it every now and then and I just deal with it *sigh*

we re leaving next saturday to Vegas to visit my inlaws we re excited they will meet him for the first time, it should be fun. I bought Moby wrap and I love it! I think it is excellent for flying, but we ll see how it goes!

Enzo is teething and he's in pain from it - 3 new teeth coming in. For awhile, he would wake up in such terrible pain around 1:30 - 3:30 am. Because we bottlefeed him, I put his Motrin in his formula at night. When I do that he'll sleep through the night and wake up as a happy baby. :star:

HLM - have you tried giving him a little mineral oil via a dropper?

I don't remember if anyone recommended gripe water to you. You can find it at inian/paki/middle-eastern grocery stores. Or you can get "Little Tummies" at any other store.

My sister-in-law would just boil some fennel seed and add about two tbsp to 4 oz of milk. That helped too.

HLM: Jona did that til he hit 12 weeks, and it is very common. Gripe water is available at Walgreens or CVS also. You can also try colic calm pills from Hyland. Do you have a baby carrier (like Ergo, MaiTei or alike)? I got it around that time and it helped so much to get him to relax. If you nurse, drink fennel/carroway tea. Also try massaging is abdomen in circles (I forget which way, but following the large intestine to massage the gas out). Good luck mama :)

@ Vi: Yup that sounds like teething. The teething pills sometimes helped, sometimes they didn't. As I would never use Tylenol since I am not capable of processing it and Jona might neither, I have Motrin in the house which I gave him a couple of times during the worst spells. It only helped so much, definitely not at all with molars or canines. It was just a rough time for all of us. I carried him a lot during those days and slept at my side at those times. What always keeps me going is that once the teeth are out, we are done with this stuff!!!!!!
