Welcome ellmvl and congratulations

@Everyone: check out this video of Sebas Our Baby Laughing

So, so far Sebas has been EBF but I need to start preparing for when I go back to work, so I'm trying to teach him to take the bottle,...it's not easy at all! He cries and fusses...He used to take an occasional bottle during the first weeks, drink a bit and then loose interest or get cranky..but now he just flat out refuses. I've bought different bottles and nipples, and I've read a ton about it so I guess I have the theory, I just have to have the patience and determination...

I'm also specially proud today because Sebas grabbed a rattle today and shook it. It is the first time he's grabbed something. It's so wonderful to see him grow and learn all these new things day by day

Saludos,

Caro

@Caro: I've tried it a couple of times to give a bottle to my babies but it never worked. Have somebody else give it to Sebas and you go as far away from him as you can. Babies can smell mama and when he knows that 'the real deal' is somewhere nearby he will fuss and complain until he gets it. I've read somewhere that it's best for mom to leave the house completely. Maybe you can lay in the bathtub while your husband feeds him a bottle or so. Good luck.

EDIT: OMG ...the video is so cute. I love baby laughs.

Ladies, Enzo is 8 mos old today. He's too, too cute and so happy, except when he's teething. He just got in his two front teeth, but the other day he was crying up a storm. I said, "hmmmmm, lemme check your little mouth." Low and behold, there are 3 more teeth sprouting up - two up top and one down below. :(

Awww poor baby. We knew exactly when Eman was getting new teeth...never failed. Than there is my nephew who is the quietest baby...they didn't know he was teething until the teeth broke through...lol...it was such a surprise. He is still like that but they make sure to check his gums once in a while to see if anything new is coming in...

Caro, I pray that what happened to my sister doesn't happen to you guys - her daughter Kaitlin refused to take a bottle. She finally had to give up working - she could never be away from her for more than 2-3 hours. Lasted that way for 15 months as she wouldn't eat food either. It was rough.

@ Caro: It's rough. Jona took one bottle of pumped milk per day from daddy until he turned 4 months. Then never again. We didn't try a whole lot of things since we didn't want to spend money on other bottles, but we tried faster flow nipples since the bottle was way slower than my letdown, tried heating the bottle nipple, no success... Hang in there.

Eman was attached to only one kind of bottle and would not take any other. When I went to target to get new bottles I couldn't find them so I asked an employee and when she couldn't find it she told me to just buy another kind. When I told her he would not take it she totally copped an attitude and was all: "I have never heard of anything like that before just take another brand" I wanted to slap her. I had to look around to make sure I hadn't accidentally walked into Walmart...lol...now my nephew is the same...he won't take anything but the Born Free brand...

@Staahi: yikes!

My plan is to try different things, I have one month before I go back to work. So far the least troublesome is the NUK orthodontic. I ordered the latex orthodontic nipples for the drop ins. If that doesn't work I've read good reviews of the Adiri bottle. And if that still doesn't work...I have to go back to work, I've read that some kids reverse their cycles? not eat a lot while mom is away and then make up for it at night? or I could break my lunch and breaks into two breastfeeding trips to the day care, at least until he's 6 months and we have established solids and can try a sippy cup...

What's with babies anyway, last week our granddaughter wouldn't have anything to do with grandma, it was strictly grandpa. Last night, it was strictly grandma, she would laugh and smile with me, but when grandma handled her to me, she started to cry and push me back. Last week, grandma was depressed, this week, it's my turn. Did rinse my mouth out with mouthwash, bad breathe was not my problem.

Caro@ I have the same problem with Sofia's bottles, she has so many different brands but she hates all of them. A few times it worked that my mom or Silvio gave her a bottle but if I try it forget! . Be consistent Caro!!!!

Caro, my sister has the same problem. Her son will only take a bottle if she is not in the room. Good luck, I know it can be tough.

Ive come to the conclusion that Zaid is banned from sliced cheese. Both times I gave him slices of cheese the next day he had huge, out the leg blowouts. What a mess. Few more months and hopefully he will potty train. So sick of poopy diapers. lol

Nothing new has been going on here. Zaid turned 19 months the other day (did i really say that) Time is flying and before I know it its gonna be time to plan his 2nd birthday. He has been saying "phrases" now and its so fun. He says "i dont want to, turn it on/off, I am 1, Hi kitty cat, hi doggy, I love you, etc. He is also still surprising me with his understanding of both english and arabic. he speaks both, with no favor to one or the other. And is understand commands in both as well. I will be so proud to have a bilingual child.

Chicago is expecting snow this weekend. its gonna be exciting to see Zaids reaction. I have a old hand me down snow suit and I think I will let him play in the snow when its still above freezing outside. 24 days til xmas...YIPEE!

Whats everyone getting their kids for xmas?

It's amazing how quickly they pick up on language. Hana is now saying her babysitter's name! She has been saying Zak's name for about two weeks now and already said mama and nigh nigh. Hana has also been saying the arabic word for good morning that Daddy says to her every morning. As for Zak, he is speaking cat at the moment. He imitates my "mouthy" cat to perfection! He talks and growls a lot, but his words aren't quite as recognizable. He does call my husband. Zak is obsessed with giving raspberries lately...whether on your leg, head, arm, or what not. Hana is now trying because she sees us laughing at Zak.

As for Christmas this year, we are taking it easy. They won't really know what is Christmas and what is their birthday right now. So...I got the Leap Frog activity table for more than half off on Black Friday (I got it for new for less than what OUAC was selling it used). I also got them two other activity toys that light up and make music. I bought a 4 cd set of toddler songs. We are having a Scholastic book sale at work next week, so I will buy them a bunch of affordable books. For their birthday in January, we are thinking of getting them the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Farm.
