I really do have some skinny, tall babies. Hana was 31 inches tall at her 9 month appointment! Zak was slightly less at 29.5 inches. Both were then just at or slightly above 20 pounds. So...we are able to stay in diapers longer than most. We just barely switched them over to size 4 diapers. The threes were getting a little too small and started to leak. The fours are a little big, but no more accidents! I am sure they will be in this size for a while.

As for crawling and about half of the other physical milestones, my two have been late bloomers. Zak started crawling just before 9 months and Hana is about ready now at 10 months (although she has been mobile and scooting around on her back since 4 months). I am glad my only two babies are taking their sweet time entering toddlerhood. I am already a little sad :( about how quickly time has passed.

Nessa, all the foods are brand new to him. He is going to react to each one differently. Zaid quivers YET insists he sucks on a lemon wedge when we go out to eat, lol. I think if Ben didnt like it, he wouldnt eat it.

Twila. Dont worry about the twins being "late" whats late anyways? lol statistics are merely that. Zaid didnt crawl til 10 months and walked at 12 however he puts 2-3 words together which most kids his age arent doing. Your babies are developing beautifully and enjoy these last few months of them being babies.

Stef, NO definitly not a toddler bed yet. I decided I will not spend the money until I have to. Zaid loves his crib. He has been sleeping in a pack n play in our room ever since he had h1n1 and i think im not ready to put him back to his own room. I love having him in there with us.

Nessa I think you're supposed to even brush gums. As for us I must say we're rather good with Adam but not so good with Allie. I don't brush her teeth every day. Adam loves brushing teeth, he's got his own brush, and then I finish up with another brush and we sing songs etc. It was a struggle in the beginning, lots of screaming, twisting and tears but he's come to terms with it. Allie just loves it and could have a toothbrush in her mouth all day.

Diaper leakage: even if you don't want to do cloth and your disposables leak, you can try to put a diaper cover over it as it will contain the messes. The cheapest are Dappi Nylon pull on pants, Proraps and Bummis.

@ Nessa: You will see when Ben doesn't want to eat. He will push the spoon away, close his mouse, move his head away and cry.

@ Twila: It's not late. Every kid is different and those schedules are stupid in my book. It's just about: hey look my kid could read when he was 8 months old (those baby can read flashcards) and could do this and that first. It's just about parents' self esteems.

Nessa: We brush Jona's teeth every night before bed with a xylitol tooth paste. There should be no fluoride in baby's toothpaste whatsoever as they cannot rinse yet. We just started recently as he picked up on solid foods. Many dentists have a false belief that breastmilk causes cavities which numerous studies show is not the case, so as long as he just was nursing we didn't bother. Of course if the family has weak enamel everything can happen. Anyways, breastmilk contains immune system antibodies that actually fight bad bacteria in baby's mouth. Plus those bacteria that cause cavities are naturally not in baby's mouth and are only introduced through contaminated saliva, aka when moms lick their baby's binkie clean, etc.

The local hollistic dentist doesn't want to see children under 3.5 years unless they have problems.

We went to the dentist when Adam was 1 year old. It was crazy, he was scared, wouldn't open his mouth and then he was crying. The dentist took a quick look and we didn't go back until after he was 2 years old. They keep sending us reminders to come every half year but I asked them to just send us another reminder in one year. As long as i have control over the kids' tooth brushing behaviour and I look into their mouth every now and then I know when something's wrong. We odn't have dental insurance so there's no insurance to tell us that we have to have checkups every 6 months. I'm not gonna go with Allie until she's two.

Adam just recently started on the fluoride toothpaste and he loves the spitting part even though he still swallows some of it. I just make sure that it's only a little amount on his toothbrush.

my dentist doesn't see children until they are 4 unless there are cavities or other problems. Luckily Ben spends hours each day brushing his teeth, although he hates it when I try to brush his molars.

@autum&Kelly: thank you, we went to walmart last night and we couldn't believe they were selling wooden toddlerbeds for $55, and they even look alright. He has a big convertible crib but it would be too big to fit next to our bed and the toddlerbed is just right. So Ben and daddy spent all night putting it together and as soon as they were done, Ben climbed right in and fell asleep. It only lasted about 1 hour before he woke up the first time, then slept another hour before he ended up in our bed.... :( I can only hope that this will improve. At least it is easier to get to him now than before when he was sleeping in his room

I'm looking for a ride on toy for Jona. I like this: http://www.myurbanchild.com/servlet/the-32...e-dsh-On/Detail

Do you have other suggestions? We don't want plastic or if it is, it should be made in the US/Canada/Europe. I don't find many at all on google.

I think parents really know their children's teeth. Whenever I brush them I see them all, so you would know it something is up. I would brush them after he eats sweets, soda or juice, none of which we feed to him anyways. The worst thing I have ever heard is my DH's cousin, who had braces on his baby teeth. That is so ridic!

Sorry, no advice on wooden toys. We're all about the plastic, it lasts longer out in the rain  .

our neighbour gave us a ton of wooden toys, a tricycle, a "Schaukelpferd" (one of those ponies to ride on) and some cars/ stuff to pull. She got it at FAO Schwartz in NYC and on Europe trips. I personally don't like them much, because they are heavy, it is impossible for him to pedal and they are not versatile outside, like Evi said.

I like the radioflyer stuff. Check out FAO schwartz online, maybe they ship? Or just stop by and take all of our toys. why don't you like plastic?
