are you sure about the latch thing? We have a Britax Boulevard too and the sticker says ok up to 65lbs. We have an evenflo carseat for grandmas car and it has a top-teether too, I couldn't find anything restricting it to 48lbs either. Should I check with the car manufacturer? How did you get the seatbelts around the carseats if they're rearfacing?

regarding the babyshower/party: haha, I will let you know how it went. Thanks for the input.

"mine" stage: Ben isn't there yet. His favorite word right now is "NO", with a ? mark. Other than that he is pretty easy going; less temper tantrums lately because he finally figured out how to talk and let me know what he wants. He tells me what he wants to eat or where it hurts, so that makes things easier. He is also starting to sleep through the nighty. Finally!! There is hope for this kid! :D

Here's a little article on the latch limit http://www.thecarseatlady.com/vehicles/the...h_system_4.html

It says to switch from the LATCH to the belt when the CHILD hits 40lbs but my Marathon and the Nautilus say 40lbs combined weight of baby and seat.

There should be a sticker on the carseat. I also found a short article on that about the Boulevard.

LATCH- The Boulevard CS includes two flexible straps to attach to the lower anchors found in most all current vehicles. Britax includes adjusters on each side to cinch the strap tightly. The attachments themselves are among the nicer ones on the market, and push-buttons make them easier to remove than some other models. Storage slots behind the fabric cover are included for when the LATCH connectors and tether are not in use. The LATCH connectors must be switched from side-to-side when changing from rear- to forward-facing use. It requires feeding them through the rear-facing seatbelt path slots in the front, lifting up the bottom of the cover and routing the LATCH straps from one side to the other. This procedure is explained in the manual, and is similar to most convertibles in difficulty. Britax indicates that the lower LATCH attachments may only be used for up to a 40 pound child, unless your vehicle owner’s manual states that the lower anchors are rated higher than 40 pounds. Otherwise, the seatbelt must be used for installation above 40 pounds. Note that this is a change in philosophy from previous models that gave a generous 48 pound guidance. The top tether can significantly reduce head excursion and the likelihood of injury in a crash, and should be used at all times. Britax also allows their versa-tether to be used rear-facing, unlike most other manufacturers. This can help the parent get the appropriate recline for infants, and to stabilize the installation a bit better. While rear-facing seats are inherently very safe even without a tether, this is a nice added feature.

http://carseatblog.com/?p=67 (hmm, there again it states that the child can be 40lbs NOT child plus carseat). I guess I'll do some more research to find out whether it is child only limits or combined weight limits.

Ayman is defenitely at the "mine" phase. He thinks everything is his! He also loves phones, every time he sees one it's "ado" which to him means hello. His other favorite words are "no" and "baraka" which means enough in arabic

As for the carseat, we have an evenflo with 2 latches and an anchor the attaches behind the seat. I haven't seen anything about weight restrictions for the latches. The seat says it goes up to 65lbs. I'm curious to know more about that.

It's not the seat. the seat is still capable to protect a child up to 65lbs BUT the Latches in the car have a weight limit. The latches that hold the carseat only hold up to a certain weight and after that - in case of an accident - the child won't be safe anymore because the LATCH anchors might come undone and the seat shoots forward. Now, the seatbelt isn't 100% safe either I guess and I'm actually scared of it coming undone more than I'm worried of the LATCH being ripped out in an accident. It should say something about the weight limit in the owners manual for the car or you can probably google it. If it doesn't say anything anywhere look on the seat they usually give a recommentation of somewhere between 40- 60lbs.

GG...I'm just letting everybody know because I was clueless. I don't want anything to happen to anybody and then be the one to say "Well, I knew about it but I didn't tell ya". KWIM?

Hi, everyone!

Kaila is so cute - I love her hair!

I'm 37 weeks today and I really want to have my baby soon! He was 8 lbs 1 oz. on the u/s on Monday. I've started to have some prelabor symptoms, so I'm hoping that's good news. I work for one more week before my maternity leave starts. Everyone there is telling me I look "well-cooked", lol.

@chnst: no idea, sorry. i don't remember ever going to a baby shower.

@nanny: she's cute.

you still have at least a couple more qweeks, hopefully, Jenn. Babies at 37, 38 weeks can develop breathing problems. 39 is safer.

I'm still hoping I will go soon - 37 weeks is full-term. The respiratory concerns are more for elective C-sections before 40 weeks. Of course, I want a healthy baby. I think everyone can understand wanting to have the baby at this point.

Unfortunately babies are on their own schedules. I lost my mucous plug at 37 weeks with Allie. I was 6cm dilated for a few days but had to be induced in the end at 41 weeks because labor would just not start. Oh well...thats pregnancy for you.

Jenn, I sure was ready to meet Rayan at 37 weeks! I was so sore and tired by then. I hope the rest of the wait goes quickly for you.

I'm going back to work part-time on Monday, and I'm anxious about it. Hubby will be with him for the six hours I'm gone. To make a long story short(er), we have a cosleeper bassinet, but we had trouble getting Rayan to sleep in the bassinet in the beginning, so for the last few weeks, we've all slept in the front room -- there's no TV in the bedroom, and watching movies helped us "grownups" fall asleep. I'm not so sure Rayan has colic after all because it isn't long enough in duration, but he does get uncomfortable and fussy most evenings and nights off and on. Sometimes bf'ing him helps, sometimes loud white noise helps, and sometimes the swing helps; it's all trial and error. So he slept in the swing or the bouncy seat, or on me on the sofa (that worried me), or beside me on a mat on the floor (which made my back hurt). When he slept with me, he could nurse all night if he wanted to, so I could sleep better than I did if I sat up (and subsequently slept) to feed him.

Last night, we fell asleep watching a movie but then decided to move to the bedroom at around 5 am. I put him in the cosleeper and ended up pulling him up beside me twice to nurse when he cried. Both times, I fell asleep, then woke up to find him sleeping and put him back in the bassinet without me even having to sit up. We have a double bed which sometimes feels too small for even the two of us, so I didn't think we'd be able to manage him in there too. I can roll over and bf without taking him out of bassinet, but that's awkward and uncomfortable, and he loses his latch. I'd worried about him rolling off the bed and back into the bassinet if I fell asleep. That would be about a 4-inch drop. But he's so much bigger now and can turn and lift his head, so that doesn't scare me quite as much now -- he's slid off the Boppy onto the sofa before, and that's a higher drop. When I pulled him up next to me last night, I did put his Boppy in the bassinet up against his lower back (not behind his head), so he'd be less likely to roll, and if he did, the Boppy would slow him down. I know it's not good to have anything in the bassinet with him, but I figure if he does roll, it will wake me up, and then I can take the Boppy out. He didn't roll, though, and everything felt very secure. It seems like a small thing and a lot of detail to write it, but the two times I lowered him back into his bed and he didn't wake up were huge to me. It just looks like we're going to be able to use the bedroom for its intended purpose again :)

We finally got a monitor, so I'm going to try a bath-book-bed routine tonight and see if he'll sleep alone in there for a couple hours until we go to bed. I'm also going to start freezing milk for the first time today, and I'm going to try to avoid giving him any expressed milk for the next few days so I can build up our supply. Now to figure out the time management issue!

I'm the USC.

Caybee: Good to see that you are getting back into some sort of routine. I remember those first weeks with both kids and my husband on shiftwork...argh. I went to bed at 8, watched a movie, nursed Allie on and off and finally went to sleep around 10 every evening and I was always in a hurry to get some sort of sleep gg.

Neither one of my kids had colic but they did cry in the evening just to release that extra bit of energy. ADam would also cluster feed from 6pm - 9pm. He'd nurse every 20 Minutes or so just to get ready for the night. It was tough but you get used to it and luckily this stage will pass pretty quickly.

I'm so excited. One of my meetup mamas is in labor right now. She had a not so good hospital birth experience and is having contractions every 5 minutes apart as of right now and heading to the birth center. I can't wait to meet her little babygirl soon.

also my friend in Germany is due any moment. I just saw pics of her belly and she is soooo cute. She'l 5.7 and somewhere in the 120lbs range (not preggo) so it is kinda funny to see her with a big ol belly but pregnancy really suits her. She should do that more often hehe. I can't wait to see her again in December and meet her little babygirl.

@ Evi: I still wonder how you do it! I just found out what's bugging Jona since Saturday: canines! This kid gets no break with teething. I saw the two upper ones peeking out of his gums. Poor kiddo. He's so grabby and unhappy it is so hard to keep him occupied, to distract from the pain. He doesn't want to eat anything but Annie's bunnies and nursing... And of course, he wakes up every hour currently cause of the pain :(

How do you do this with two kids? I'm starting to think I will never be able to do that...

My nephew is colicky. Homepathics help a little, but today she's seeing an osteopath and on Friday a chiro, both recommendations per her midwife. Jaron nurses every 90 minutes (and hey, he's beaten Jona weight-wise, he's 8 weeks and weighs whopping 6kg!), and sleeps maybe for 30 minutes. He is somewhat happy in the Ergo carrier, but it is just really hard on my sister, and I can only imagine how hard. I'm sure though the chiro can help. Jaron was a vacuum-extraction, I have friends who had their kids adjusted by a chiro after stressful births and the whole world changed. I'm hoping they will be able to help my sister and nephew!!!
