Hello mommies,

Regarding vaccinations - We'll be following the recommended vaccination calendar

Sebas is going through the first growth spurt - He fed every hour last night...I'm sleepy! zzzzzzzzzzz

Caro: Very cute pics. Just keep feeding your little man. Allie's going through something too...she feeds like crazy at night.

@Anna: Who makes the MMR vaccination and will it be the same company making the single shots later on?

I just called Merck and was told that they have prioritized the combo vax over the separate vaxes and they are currently not producing any single MMR shots. However, she said there are plans to start producing MMR single shots again but apparently not before another two years. Bummer.

I think we are not going to do flu/swine flu shots this year as well. I actually have never had the flu, nor has sofyan. I know it is recommended for the young and old but I dont know how I feel about it with Zaid

Carrie, Zaid also had a MMR at 15 months and did fine. Thankfully. God ill be glad when the shots become less and less frequent soooo much to worry about

@ Evi: Mmh Dr. Sears made an announcment as did Merck like 3 months ago they would resume production... Maybe they changed their minds again. Anyways, single shots are available in Germany if it won't be here which is a thing you could try. Hubbie and I are maybe interested in the measles shot around age 3, the others ones we aren't.

I definitely would attend a chickenpox party with my kids. SIL just did. I guess my personal comfort level age is when Jona starts talking so he can tell me where it itches :D I never had CP even though exposed several times, which is why immigration made me getting the vaccine, guess what, I have no titers, nada, zit. Since I have been exposed as a kid and teenie I'm starting to wonder if there is more to immunity than titers, since I never got it despite sharing soda bottles, spoons etc with the infected. But if I get it when Jona has it, fine, finally getting it over with (just like Miranda on Sex and the City ;) ).

Argh your talking about blood draws makes me dread tomorrow. We'll recheck Jona's CBC and do a lead and mercury test. He did fine last time, they have a really good tserge who is amazing with finding veins. She also accepts breastfeeding while doing the draw which helps so much.

@ Caro: very cute pictures :)

Scratch the MMR at 15 months Carrie, Zaid actually had his at 12 months. All this talk of vaccines made me wanna call my ped. I found out Zaid is WAAY caught up and only need a DTAP and Prevnar at 18 months (which we scheduled for Oct 28th! Is my baby really gonna be 18 months old?!?) and he will be done for a long time. I think im gonna hold off on HepA. Anyone have any thoughts on HepA?

The Dr wanted to give Ayman the MMR at his 12 mo checkup as well, but I wanted to wait. He didn't get the HepA at the 15mo checkup because they didn't have it, but it's required for school/daycare, as is the varicella vaccine.

Ben is taking whatever shot the doctor says so. If it wasbn;t for the internet i would never know that people don't give shots for this and that reason. I'm more for the pros than for the cons of shots.

man, i was checking the growth chart and Ben is weighing what he's supposed to be weighing at 8 months old. I can't bel;ieve how big he's getting. Soon i'll be charged of neglect because he's too big lol

Cloth diaper rant - i bought bumgenius one-size 3.0 that advertises they fit 7-35 lbs. They're getting so tight now and i've been washing exactly how they told me it should be washed and even with the detergent they told me is acceptable. #######? i bought because it should fit until he's 36 months, and he's not even 6 and it's getting too tight.

@ Nessa: I have heard from many moms with "chunkier" babes that BUmgenius gets too tight too quickly. Jona wouldn't fit in those. We mostly had prefolds til recently, I added some Nubunz to our collection and they do fit the chunky monkeys too. They definitely run bigger than Bumgenius. Prefolds aren't as convenient, but fit better overall than AOIs/pocket diapers...

yeah but a difference of 18 lbs is just too much. I just weighed his diaper and it's 10 oz. the woman only took 3 oz from his weigh (with clothes). so he's actually 7 lbs 9 oz. which is still a lot more than normal.

I'll be getting all the recommended vacs for the baby, I think, with the exception of Hep B. I just don't see the need to get an infant vaccinated against a predominantly sexually-transmitted disease right away with all of the other ones he's going to need to get that are more important IMO.
