my doctor didn't tell me to fast. i ate normally the day before and didn't have breakfast before doing the test (which was at 9am, so no biggy)

some say that if u have sugar before the test it can affect the results.

My mom got me started on diapers too. I started out with flats and just regular vinyl covers and kinda worked my way to All in Ones or at least fitteds with diaper covers. Lots of Mommas here are using cloth and there are TONS of sites out there that sell stuff. I didn't know what to buy and was about to order off of ebay yesterday (much cheaper) and then I found that site with those cute covers and I just HAD to have them  . Honestly, with all that stuff out there, I don't even know if I saved money on diapers in the end. I guess so, since we're buying store brand diapers and use cloth but I spent so much money on covers already...it probably adds up to 300 bucks by now.

You all inspired me to really read up on cloth today. That's what my mom used on all three of us, and I always said I'd like to try them, especially at home, but I didn't realize how far they'd advanced with the cute covers and clips and all. I think we could actually manage it, at least at home, and maybe even at daycare if we have to go that route, if they'll accept the all-in-ones. Everything I read about $75 to $100 a month for disposables really got my attention! I guess you'd need a heavier plastic cover for swimming?

ETA: Heard the baby's heartbeat on Doppler for the first time today, 160 bpm :) They're still trying to decide if the baby's a week older than they thought, but they're probably going to change my due date at the next visit after they've put their heads together, which means I'm probably at 15 weeks 2 days now. The time seems to be flying (maybe because I'm not yet uncomfortable).

i'll use mostly at home. after i get back to work he'll take the disposable to daycare and i'll be using disposable on weekends only, because i really don't feel like doing laundry every night after work.

Did they give you something orange to drink?

Hmm, yeah, the laundry load is one thing I wonder about. The site I was reading said the cloth ones need to be washed through two or three cycles.

I just bought a $90 baby memory book (sheesh, don't tell charles)

bluesilkwithbrownribbonwb405x503.jpg

Covered in fabulous blue raw silk, and trimmed with a brown grosgrain ribbon.

Nessa, that is beautiful! My mom went a little hogwild the other day in the Hallmark store and bought us two baby books - one is a scrapbook and one is an actual baby book. They are adorable and I want her to do all the writing (as she has beautiful handwriting!).

My mom got me started on diapers too. I started out with flats and just regular vinyl covers and kinda worked my way to All in Ones or at least fitteds with diaper covers. Lots of Mommas here are using cloth and there are TONS of sites out there that sell stuff. I want to do cloth diapers, too. I went to a cloth diaper info class - it was very cool. Will probably do the nights and weekend thing...but baby will be in disposables when he's out and about.

I don't do cloth exclusively. there are days when it's just easier to put on disposables. With both kids in cloth, I wash diapers about every two days. When it was only Adam I'd wash every 3-4 days. I do one cold rinse to get the main poo and pee out and then wash on the whitest whites cycle which has a cold rinse in the end...that's it. For stains I hang them up in the sun whenever I can but in the winter I just throw them in the dryer. Adam's 'dirty' diapers I wash out in the toilet first and then throw everything in the pail, wet as it is. Allie's poo diapers I just throw in the pail right away, can't really rinse that mess out  .

Cloth is more work, especially when you are getting adjusted to being a new mommy etc. I started with Adam after about 4 weeks and with Allie it took me a little longer. I think I started her on cloth after 2 months or so.

Tracy, I'm sorry about your friend (F) .

We spent the whole long weekend in nesting mood, getting rid of alot of stuff that we don't need anymore, Sil surprised me too, he was very helpful. I want to set the crib and start washing the baby clothes too. I don't know about the cloth diapers, I don't think we will go for them.

Nessa the book is super cute, good choice! I've been filling mine since I got it, my U/S and pictures are there and I'm making one for my parents too.

Is it Friday yet????? OMG I'm so tired....

Hugs

THIS SUMMER  . As soon as the weather gets better (which should be in a few weeks) I'll put Adam in his Elmo underpants and go for it. If we have to stay home all day, I don't care but he'll be out of diapers by the end of this year (I hope  ). He says POO POOOO all day but then never goes. Plus he can keep poo poo in until he has a diaper on. I've noticed it a couple of times, he just won't go on the potty but as soon as a diaper is on, he's gone hiding somewhere poopooing...argh.

How many of the pregnant ladies have had there glucose test? and how did it go? i have mine this afternoon

My wife took the test a few weeks ago. Her sugar level was too high so she had to take the 3 hour test, but she passed that one. We also found out she is Anemic, so she has to take iron.

Hm I didn't eat before the sugar test to make sure. My sister in Germany was told to not eat before it, and was given the exact same amount of glucose as they give here. So I didn't eat as the doc suggested as it prolly affects the levels. I passed just fine. I just didn't want to take a risk to have to take the long test which stinks!!!!

Diapers: the next baby will be in cloth. Right now it is sorta too late to change, I wouldn't save any money at this point I think. I would love to use a diaper service (lazy me), but there is none around here.
