I don't know how I do it. I am not looking forward to school and getting up at 5.30am starting tomorrow. Trust me we have tried everything. He will scream in his room until he gets tired and sleep for a few minutes and then continue screaming, that has not worked.

We tried the pack'n play in our room but he does sleep a little better in his crib and we figured out that the sooner we get to him the easier it is to get him back to sleep. We asked the doctor but all we ever hear is that it is just a phase, we should just let him cry and it will go away. same as for the constipation.

He is very constipated again and I think this may be a reason for his poor sleep. But after hearing the same sh** for over 1 year from the doctors I wonder if he will ever get better.

We had an appointment with his GI doctor this week and when the nurse weighed and measured him I saw a letter to our pedi attached to his chart written by the GI doctor saying that "the parents are not complying with the laxative recommendations" We had discussed at our last visit that 6 adult strength laxatives/day is too much and it didn't help, plus it costs us more than $100 a week. So we agreed to use less, since his constipation got a little better temporarily anyways. now she writes that we are not complying with the therapy!! But she never mentions anything to us! All we ever hear is that "he is a normal child, it will go away on its own, there is no need for any kind of diagnostic blah blah. see you again in 3 months. " It's like they think we only go there for fun because he is such a happy kid (when he is not pushing his bowels out of his rectum trying to poop)

I am so tired of this. I guess our only option is to find a different doctor.

Step - I feel so sorry for you. I don't know how you function day to day. I feel so blessed that Ayman goes to bed a 8:30pm and sleeps 'til 7-7:30am, and he takes a 3-4 hour nap everyday. I'm sure Ben's constipation has a lot to do with his restlessness. Poor little guy, i'm sure he's feeling very uncomfortable. I would find new Dr's if I were you. If you're not getting the care and answers you need, it's pointless. You deserve to have a Dr that will listen and work with you to find a solution to the problem, not chalk it up to a phase BS. I understand kids have phases, but this is clearly NOT a phase. Something could be seriously wrong and no one cares to find out. I hope you can find someone to get to the root of all these problems.

@ Stef: I agree with the others...I think his sleeping issues probably have a lot to do with his GI issues. Reading of this reminds me of the show mystery diagnosis where people had to go to physician after physician until one finally listened to them and cared enough to figure it out. It kind of reminds me of this situation. I know I have read in the past of all the things you have tried. I really suggest getting a second, third, and fourth opinion.

@Nessa: I love the latest pic of Ben! How is he doing today?

@Carrie: He takes that long of a nap everyday? Holy moly! My two maybe nap two hours combined during the day. Then again...they go to bed anywhere between 7 and 7:30 pm and now seem to want to wake up at 8 am.

Hello Mommies!

I'm 39 weeks today and hoping Sebas decides to introduce himself soon

Chnst: I'm sorry to hear Ben is still having constipation problems! To deal with pregnancy constipation issues I have an activia yougurt with a spoonful of benefiber a day - it really helped me. I wonder if you can ask your doctor if you can try the same with Ben.

About sleeping, we would get a glass of warm milk with honey when we were little - that's the only trick I know

Nessa: Hope Ben feels better soon

Saludos,

Caro

Yep, he only takes one nap a day that varies anywhere between 2-1/2 to 4 hours long, depending if we have to go somewhere. I just put him in the crib with his paci and a blanket, turn the small fan on for noise control, turn out the light and shut the door. I have to make it short and sweet, the longer I take the harder it is to get him to sleep. He gets very hyper when he's overtired. Same thing at night, except he usually gets a bath, milk and then bed.

Caro - Hoping Sebas arrives soon! Good luck and congrats, you're near the end.

Well, we bought Zaid a potty chair today. He has been going on the big potty before baths everyday and he loves it so I figure we will keep it in the bathroom and it will be there when he is ready. It really was depressing buying it. Its so hard to believe my baby isnt a baby :( Not only that but he is in 24 month clothing now so after this size he is no longer in "month" clothing, 2t will be next :( Enjoy it mamas to all the little ones. It goes by waaaayy too fast. I know he is only 16 months old but I SWEAR i feel like I just had him yesterday

Allie's been wearing 2T clothing too...mostly shirts though.

@Chnst: I am so sorry that Ben is still not doing better. You have talked about it a lot and I know that you tried about everything out there, even going all 'herbal' on him with no success. I would just say you go and find him another doctor to get another opinion. A child who doesn't poop and needs laxatives that won't work is not a healthy child. He might grow right and might seem happy but there's definitely something NOT right (but you know that already, othewise you wouldn't run to the GI every few months). There's a mom in another forum whos teenage daughter kept complaining about headaches. Her doc told her she was a drama queen for over a year. When they went to have her eyes checked the optometrist found that there was something wrong and told her mom to have a scan done immediately. Four days later she was in surgery to have a softball sized and a golfball sized tumor removed from her head...It is insane. That poor girl, the poor family. Mayabe if the doctor had taken her seriously it would have ended way less severe.

I'm not trying to scare you, just wanted to let you know that doctors don't always know everything and so many say that what they haven't seen by themselves just doesn't exist. Some don't do their homework and just do their job, without any passion. Good luck to you. I hope your little man will get better soon.

On another note, my MIL went home to Argentina on Sunday - I has a big SAD!!!! :( Enzo is now going to my mom's for his days but it is tough to have to get him going in the morning when we had it so good when my MIL was here. <big time sigh>

09/09/09 what a fun date to have a baby  . Hope all goes well Caro.

@All: I love the new pictures of your babies and my...how Ben has grown, Nessa. What a cute little man.

We had a minor breakthrough yesterday. Adam pooped - as usual - in his pants but he wasn't wearing underwear so the little ####### he pooped fell right on the kitchen tiles  . I took his pants off and told him to sit on the potty where he pooped for about 10 Minutes and didn't want to come off of it  . He was proud of himself and we gave a big cheer. I hope that maybe from now on he'll poo in the potty a little more and not so much in his underwear anymore.

Glad he wasn't standing in the living room. :dead:

Gg...hey we've had THAT before too. Allie is very good in pooping while I get her a new diaper. She's diaper free for two minutes and I have a ####### on the carpet. Gross. I have a pet and kid stain remover spray and eventually we'll have to steamclean our carpet.
