I wouldn't add sugar, salt or anything else. Babies' taste buds aren't spoiled by too much sugar and salt as ours. They like the foods just the way they are.

Jona eats about 1-2 yobaby per day, some fruit and baby crackers from Annie's or Wholefoods Cheerios. Sometimes all he eats is one yobaby. We only offer him food if he gets hungry, we don't have a schedule. Babies and toddlers have such tiny stomachs, they can't make do with 3 meals a day like adults. So we always make crackers and breadsticks (homemade) available on a snack platter to him along with a sippy cup of water or unsweetened organic chamomile tea.

We take off our shoes when we enter the apartment also -- hubby's habit which I picked up. I have a carpet shampooer, but it's not as good as the ones you can rent. We probably won't be living here by the time Rayan is crawling, but once he starts, I'll rent a good machine, and after that, I'll be vacuuming frequently and probably shampooing monthly.

While I was pregnant, I was already thinking about a sibling for Rayan, but realistically, at my age, lightning is unlikely to strike twice, and since finances aren't great these days, hubby feels we should use our resources to make Rayan's life as good as we can rather than having two and struggling and maybe not having enough for what they need sometimes. I can see his point, but I still think about it :) I wouldn't have traded my sisters for a more comfortable life, and I know both my parents, only children, would have liked to have siblings. I enjoyed being pregnant, I love being a mom, and my mom told me that even though you can't imagine having more love in your heart than you do for your firstborn, when the next one comes, the love is there too. So we'll be on b/c, but if a time comes when hubby wants to put that aside and I'm sure he's thought it through, I'll be ready to try for another and see what happens. We won't do fertility treatments though.

hubby steam cleaned the carpets when Ben started to crawl. It made a difference. Luckily we have very nice neighbors who let us borrow their cleaner. I am vacuuming and mopping pretty much every day, the urge to have a sterile ship comes with motherhood as an instinct I guess. I have never been such a neat freak until we had a baby. I am not wearing shoes at home but hubby does sometimes, when I don't look and people who visit.... Thank God he is walking now.

Girls!!!

I'm back after a few days....

Yesterday was my B-day and it was so special to have my baby with me, I had a great day. Hubby took me out for dinner to a peruvian restaurant and some drinks (I know, I know) and when we came back my wonderful in-laws (I'm being sarcastic) were here waiting for us to come home plus my MIL was babysitting for us. My hubby got upset 'cause his sister was here and her and her daughter are just recuperating from a cold and both were around Sofia. .Sofia got her ears pierced yesterday too, it's funny 'cause when I mentioned it at my in laws (before) my MIL ask my husband in front of me what did he think about it, like asking if he approved it or not, OMG she is a nice lady but she can be so annoying sometimes, she thinks thta every woman is like her? that I need to ask for permission to my husband for everything I want to do??. Well Sofia looks beautiful I will be posting some pictures soon :star: .

Silvio is being home for the past two weeks and all what I have to say is I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE CLASSES START!!! hahahaha seriously, I'm so used to be with the baby and have my own routine and now he is here and I feel that he is on top of me all the time, sometimes I send him to visit his parents 'cause I can't do things when he is here. Don't take me wrong, I love my hubby but he can be a pain in the @ss. He is going back to work in one more week!!!!

Sofia is doing great, she is eating : cereal (Barley),banana, peaches, pear, sweet potatoe and carrots, I'm introducing them one by one. Today I gave her peaches for the first time and I saw that her cheeks turn a little red ,like bumps on her face, excuse my ignorance but does that mean that she is allergic to that?. To the new mommies, how many times a day do you feed your babies food? I'm doing it just once a day, should I do it twice?. My little girl is growing so fast, she is going to be 6 motnhs next month, Wow!! I keep putting away more and more clothes for the "next baby".

Siblings, not yet, we are enjoying Sofia so much and is going to sound stupid but I wonder how can you love another baby as much as you love your first one?? how can you share that love?? we are so in love with her,it's just amazing, and she is such a great happy baby we are very happy, ok I need a Klennex now...

Nessa@ Sofia will be crawling soon, we don't wear shoes in the house and I'm sure I will be cleaning the floor all the time just in case. I hate when people tell me waht is ok and what is wrong about my baby, my MIL is annoying me big time, she keeps giving me unnecesary advice but not directly to me but to my hubby, making comments about the food I give to my baby, why did I start so early, and that bothers me even more.

Caro@ I felt my belly really low when I was 33 week, Sofia was a premie remember? and I felt those horrible BH contractions while I was going to work a few times, horrible, horrible.

Well girls gotta go

Hugs

Happy belated birthday Vi! :star:

I remember Sofia was a preemie, she was born at 34 weeks, right? so she dropped one week before you went into labor?

Saludos,

Caro

Hey Mommas, I'm writing from Vancouver Airport. Thank god for free WIFI here. We got into an airplane early from Victoria and have a 4 hour layover here...argh. It's only about two more hours to go then we're out here off to SEattle and in for the long 5 hr flight back home to TX. Vicoria was fun but a money pit. OMG... everything is so expensive. How do Canadians survive? I'm glad we had a car to get out of the touristy area. Those four days were fun but we miss our babies. I haven't heard their voices in four days so I can't wait to go back home.

My boobies have adjusted. I haven't pumped at all today while the very first day I pumped 5oz within afew minutes and I also had to hand express at the airport (ack..that was fun). I hope Allie still wants to nurse and I will start drinking tons of nursing tea tomorrow to start getting my milk back on track. We'll see how that goes.

I didn't read the previous pages. Just wanted to say YAY @Nessa for sticking with the booby feeds. Congrats for getting your supply back up.

That's it so far..gonna surf the internet a little more

PS @Anna: Thank you for your email. I think I'll get me some nubunz for Allie.

PPS: I'm currently reading "The healthiest Kid in the Neighborhood" by Dr. Sears. I can only recommend it. I think we live pretty healthy right now but there's always room for improvement.

Yeah, I know I probably shouldn't worry as I usually don't have supply issues. The first two days I HAD to pump or hand express as I was having letdowns all the time but then it kinda stopped. I'm sure I'll be fine. I'll let y'all know how it goes as soon as I have my baby back :luv:

Good morning

My lower back and hips are killing me. Woke up at 3 am, it hurt so bad I took a tylenol and got into a warm bath. That helped and I was able to go back to sleep, but again this morning it hurts so bad, like my joints are being pulled apart. ugh. God, grant me patience to endure the last few weeks

Saludos,

Caro

@ Caro, thankfully, I never had the back pain, but the hip joint pain was awful. You may already be doing this, but it helped me a lot to sleep with one or two pillows between my knees and thighs. I also did some stretches sitting on the floor with the soles of my feet together and pulled close to my body, then leaning forward, and that gave me some relief. Swimming felt wonderful as well. I guess it's different for everyone. I hope you find some stretches or positions that relieve both your back and hip joints. Rest and baby yourself as much as you can.

@ Caro: oh hang in there! I had a lot of back pain that turned out to be the early stages of labor (and then continued to have back labor). Warm water always helps! Soak yourself silly in bubble baths ;) (my fave is lavender oil bath, calming, soothing)! Be careful with Tylenol there. This is exactly what I did (for heartburn though) the last 10 days of being preggo. I popped one every day and it hurt my liver (not permanently, but at that time it did). My live enzymes were elevated like crazy so the ob claimed I must have HELLP syndrome (my family physician begs to differ! my MD sister too - she's like just one look at your labs would confirm that you did not suffer from HELLP or any form of pre-e). Sorry for the long text, I just wanted to caution you about it. If you take a couple more and have a check up any time soon, have them check your liver enzymes.

@ Evi: I hope Allie is still interested, though I am pretty sure :) BTW I stuff the night-time Nubunz with an infant prefold and two of their soakers... He just pees so much.

@ Eveline, glad you enjoyed your trip, and I hope the rest of it was easy. I don't know if it was the nursing tea or just a normal fluctuation, but I drank one cup when my supply seemed to be dwindling, and the next day my supply was back and then some. I'm going to look for the Dr. Sears book. Rayan has a clean slate for now, but we want to start him out right.

We must be having a growth spurt again. Rayan's been wearing looser outfits for a few days while I let a load of his laundry build up, but I just put a regular Gerber 0-3 onesie on him, and it's really almost too tight at three weeks old. Before he was born, I found a cute Halloween onesie in a second-hand store, size 0-3, and thought the timing would be perfect for him to wear it in October, but there's no way. I guess I'll get out the sewing machine and dress him like a pumpkin.

@Caro Hang in there girl! I dealt with ligament pain from 24 weeks on. I think it was around 30 weeks that I would literally cry for 2 minutes before getting into the shower and another 2 minutes before getting out because of the range of motion that was required to lift my leg over the tub's edge. I think a lot of those stretching pains put the pain of after the birth in perspective. I actually felt pretty good after the c-section. I can't wait to see pics of your little baby when he arrives!

@Carol Anne I miss the cute little boy's outfits. It seems like once they hit 12 months in size, they decide that every boy is going to be a baseball player. I am in search of a good Eid outfit for Zak. It is hard to find clothes that fit him real well. He is in between 12 and 18 months because of his length. He is not very heavy, though, so a lot of clothes will slide off him. I probably need to go to Gymboree. Their clothes are not quite as baggy as other stores. Hana already has her Eid dress and shoes. I can't wait to put her in it!

AFU: We had a fun weekend of playing! The babies are getting to be so much fun. I played with a ball with Zak for half an hour yesterday. Hana always comes scooting over to me and goes "mamamama". Of course, I then pick her up. Going to work tomorrow is going to bite the big one.
