@ chnst: I know what you mean... I do get excited sometimes about another child... When I go to the basement and put away clothes that don't fit anymore I open the storage box with Jona's preemie/newborn clothes and get all excited again... When I sewed some diapers, I made some newborn ones too.... Baby fever attacks you out of nowhere, even if you haven't slept all night :D

@ Nessa: When we moved into the house we bought a wet vac (you can rent them too at Safeway, Lowes, Home Depot). Instead of the chemical cocktail known as carpet cleaner we bought a bottle of 7th Generation detergent (we chose lavender scent) and used that. When DH cleaned a basement carpet with the Bissell cleaner that came along he noticed it works not as good as 7th Generation! So I'd recommend that. The carpet gets clean, smells good and is completely harmless for baby. We don't wear shoes in the house to preserve everything anyways. We have slippers for in-house use.

The tiles and hardwood floors are cleaned with the Shark Steam Mop. No chemicals necessary, yet super clean floors (it even sanitizes cause it is so hot).

@ Nessa, I'd be upset too. Rayan just found his thumb last night, and I was happy -- he can't put his paci back in his mouth yet, and I want him to be able to self-soothe, especially at night. Never knew until he was born how comfortable even total strangers are with given unsolicited advice. One of hubby's friends was over for dinner the other night and insinuated we should get rid of the cats even though they're getting along fine with the baby.

Work called me yesterday with a couple of transcriptions to do on my own time, and I did a short one yesterday while nursing Rayan with his Boppy on my lap. He seems to be a comfort nurser, so he will sometimes stay latched on or at least want to cuddle afterward for an hour or two at a stretch, and I want to allow him that when I can. The multitasking worked out just fine. When I return to work, it will be part-time (hubby will be with him while I'm gone), and I'm hoping for enough work to do from home to make up the difference. It's good to know I can do some of that while still giving Rayan the attention he needs.

I clean the carpet regularly anyways so no difference with Henry here. We have a Bissell cleaner and love it. We use the pet formula because we have cats.

Siblings, I have 3 1 is 16 months younger the next one is 8yrs younger and the youngest is 16yrs younger. From experience it was nice to have someone to grow up with but she was also an absolute witch and we don't talk, ironically I get along with the younger two and talk to them weekly. We are goign to have one more, DH wants one right now and I'm not ready yet. I want to spend more time with Henry and enjoy him. So maybe n 2 years or so.

@ Stef and Anna, I missed your input on the cloth diapers for hip dysplasia until now. Thanks for the information. I'll see what I can find about folding them differently. I don't know if I can get two on him at this point because he's already almost outgrown the covers, but I've ordered more of those. Oh, we did try one of the Bumgenius diapers yesterday, and he didn't struggle at all :) Hubby thought it was VERY nice as well. Rayan had his ultrasound today, and the tech said his measurements look good, but I'll have to wait a couple of days to get some real information.

@ Stef - I know, I am so embarassed about the Wiggles!!!

About siblings, hubby and I had originally planned on trying when Declan was 1 year. Now, with him being unemployed, financially, it is not the right time. We do want siblings fairly close in age though. We are thinking about waiting until next May, when Declan is 2 and then trying. Ron starts college on Monday, first doing prereqs and then hopefully getting into the nursing program. So if we can time a new baby close to when he graduates, that would be nice.

Nessa - about the crawling ... well we never wear shoes in the house anyways. When Declan started crawling, we vacuumed and cleaned the carpets and then maintain things by frequent vacuuming.

Girls!!!

I'm back after a few days....

Yesterday was my B-day and it was so special to have my baby with me, I had a great day. Hubby took me out for dinner to a peruvian restaurant and some drinks (I know, I know) and when we came back my wonderful in-laws (I'm being sarcastic) were here waiting for us to come home plus my MIL was babysitting for us. My hubby got upset 'cause his sister was here and her and her daughter are just recuperating from a cold and both were around Sofia. .Sofia got her ears pierced yesterday too, it's funny 'cause when I mentioned it at my in laws (before) my MIL ask my husband in front of me what did he think about it, like asking if he approved it or not, OMG she is a nice lady but she can be so annoying sometimes, she thinks thta every woman is like her? that I need to ask for permission to my husband for everything I want to do??. Well Sofia looks beautiful I will be posting some pictures soon :star: .

Silvio is being home for the past two weeks and all what I have to say is I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE CLASSES START!!! hahahaha seriously, I'm so used to be with the baby and have my own routine and now he is here and I feel that he is on top of me all the time, sometimes I send him to visit his parents 'cause I can't do things when he is here. Don't take me wrong, I love my hubby but he can be a pain in the @ss. He is going back to work in one more week!!!!

Sofia is doing great, she is eating : cereal (Barley),banana, peaches, pear, sweet potatoe and carrots, I'm introducing them one by one. Today I gave her peaches for the first time and I saw that her cheeks turn a little red ,like bumps on her face, excuse my ignorance but does that mean that she is allergic to that?. To the new mommies, how many times a day do you feed your babies food? I'm doing it just once a day, should I do it twice?. My little girl is growing so fast, she is going to be 6 motnhs next month, Wow!! I keep putting away more and more clothes for the "next baby".

Siblings, not yet, we are enjoying Sofia so much and is going to sound stupid but I wonder how can you love another baby as much as you love your first one?? how can you share that love?? we are so in love with her,it's just amazing, and she is such a great happy baby we are very happy, ok I need a Klennex now...

Nessa@ Sofia will be crawling soon, we don't wear shoes in the house and I'm sure I will be cleaning the floor all the time just in case. I hate when people tell me waht is ok and what is wrong about my baby, my MIL is annoying me big time, she keeps giving me unnecesary advice but not directly to me but to my hubby, making comments about the food I give to my baby, why did I start so early, and that bothers me even more.

Caro@ I felt my belly really low when I was 33 week, Sofia was a premie remember? and I felt those horrible BH contractions while I was going to work a few times, horrible, horrible.

Well girls gotta go

Hugs

love the pic, vi. she's so cute .

how can you love another baby as much as you love your first one??

i ask myself the same question. if i ever got pregnant again, there r so many things i dont imagine me doing, like reading the baby book weekly to know whats going on with the baby, going crazy on the shopping, etc, heck, if it were a girl id dress her on ben's blue clothes just so i dont have to spend more money. i'd be a terrible parent. i guess the excitement goes away. but what do i know, never been there.

@Nessa: no, I wouldn't give him sugar. Don't get him used to sweet food too early, for so many reasons (childhood obesity, dental cavities, blood sugar etc etc) Most babies love just plain avocado. He gets enough glucose from fruits and breastmilk/formula.

He will get a taste for sweet things soon enough. Ben loves candy/ice cream/ cookies, it is so hard to keep him away from it, and only let him have it every once in a while or at his grandparents'. :)

@Vi: I would start with 1 feeding/day, maybe lunch. If she seems hungry at dinner give her some food for dinner, but technically you don't have to feed her 3 meals from day one as long as she is happy and growing. It took 3 months until Ben was eating 3 meals a day.

what a cute picture, I love her hair!
