I am really sick of the Wiggles! I acutally didn't used to mind them too much, until my mother bought Declan a Wiggles guitar. She had already bought the Wiggles drum a while ago. Anyway, he loves his guitar, but all he does is press the button that plays "Wake up Jeff" ... OVER AND OVER. Apparently, it is his favorite song, but sometimes he is pressing it so much, it is : wake up .. wake wake wake wake up Jeff wake up wake wake wake ....

Drives me nutty.

My two LOVE things that make noise. I bought them this one "chew" toy (sounds like I am talking about our puppies or something) that looks like a mini-piano. It plays three different classical music tunes. The worst part...as they are chewing on it, it will change songs. I just keep thinking as it is playing, that probably my sister will find something real interesting to get them for the holidays. It is barely beginning for us. I feel for you.

@ Anna, yes, I have a couple snappies, and they work well. Rayan is a wiggler, and he doesn't like it when I'm putting the prefold on him, but once he's dressed, he calms down. I'm extra careful with the snappy, though, because I'm afraid he'll flail around and snag himself. We had our first leak tonight. He'd had a LOT to drink, and I may have left some of the diaper outside of the cover, but the leak wasn't terrible. It was a little strange getting used to obviously wet diapers because disposables don't feel wet, but it's not bad, and since he takes only breastmilk, the messy ones aren't bad either. I also hang the covers to dry. The AOIs are Bumgenius. They're very cute, but I haven't even tried them yet because the others are working so well.

I do wonder about one thing. It seems he may have some hip dysplasia (he'll have an ultrasound on Friday to be sure), and I can't help but wonder if the thicker cloth diapers could be doing something to his hips. I wouldn't think so, but I guess I worry about everything. I twist them for now -- they seem to fit him best that way.

@ Nessa, very glad to hear your milk production is back up!

Since I can't edit, looks like the cloth diapers are probably not to blame. In fact, I read that in some countries, the treatment of choice is several cloth diapers worn at once.

See my granddaughter diapers have a picture of Barney on it, think it's him, that Flintstone, I think, character. Really didn't pay the much attention, was more concerned about getting a shower from her than looking at cartoon characters. I do remember getting showers, but boys are worse than that then girls. Really can't get excited about a cartoon character on a diaper and we certainly don't save those.

Kids are also using Target brand formula, was trained to put in two level scoops per 4 ounces of water for that. She loves it, growing fast and as energy that is unbelievable, so must be okay. Not accustomed to plastic bottles and the nipples are different too, have to make sure the hole now on the side is down. Babysat with her yesterday, wife was at work, we spend two hours running all over the house, she got a sour look on her face. Figured it was time for a bottle, fixed one up, held her on my rocking recliner, killed off that bottle in seconds, then we both passed out. Woke up an hour later, still in my arms, had to use the restroom, carefully laid her down in her crib, she instantly wakes up and we are back at it again.

I don't think I could do this full time, it's a lot of fun, but tiring. We laugh like crazy, but when she gets hungry, tired, or needs a fresh diaper, she starts to cry, so I look at her eye to eye, and say, WHAT! Get that smile again and go through the routine. She's precious.

@caybee: no the cloth diapers are definitely not to blame, I think I posted it yesterday, but if you put 2 diapers on him (either cloth or disposable) it spreads his legs further, and keeps the hip joints in place. Hip dysplasia is a very common thing, I think there is even ultrasound screening for that in Germany for every newborn. It is very easy to treat.

You can tell if you turn him on his tummy and one of his legs appears shorter than the other.

@tnh: that sounds like a good deal for the formula. Formula ingredients are regulated by the FDA, so the only difference between Kirkland and Nestle is probably the price. Some formulas are fortified with DHA, I think even the generic brands make that now, I think these are a little more expensive but closer to breastmilk.

@autum: OMG I think the wiggles are hideous. I watched it with some kids I used to take care of and vowed that there will never be a wiggle DVD in our house.

@ Stef - I didn't even know who the Wiggles were until my mom bought him the drum. It played a song that wasn't too bad (5 little joeys) and Declan and I would dance to it. But them my mom keeps buying him Wiggles things and now he is hooked. Wiggles are crack for babies.

@ caybee: I feel ya for the "wriggleness"... The AOIs are a lot easier. Bumgenius is the market leader. I have "knoch offs" made by a mama in WV. I agree the breastmilk poopy diapers are harmless, they don't even stink really ;) DH always forgets to stick the prefold sides into the cover which lead to a couple leaks, but now he learned :)

I agree with everything Stef said. My sister and I had sons at the same time and she went in for a hip ultrasound and told me to convince the ped here to do it too. But they don't routinely do it and needless to say, military clinics only do the bare minimum.

My mom said back in the GDR they had to do the cloth diapers a certain way in the beginning to prevent hip dysplasia. It must have looked awkward but it was their way of preventing it (I guess routine ultrasounds weren't feasible in communism)... So don't worry for your little one, it's easily treatable :)

I just skimmed through 7 pages of posts. We have been home 2 weeks tomorrow and as of 10 days ago Henry is weighing in at 14lbs 15oz and measures 26" He is STILL teething and it looks like all 4 are coming in together painfully slow! Poor baby.

My sister was here and left today which is why I haven't been on much. Henry is taking rice cereal now and sleeping 10hours a night. I actually got to go out with the 'girls' last week to see Julie/Julia and for dinner at Bravo!

Hubs bought me a new netbook so I can travel lighter, gran is very sick so there is a chance Hen and I will have to make the trip back to England on our own before the year is out.

I second the Hyland's Teething Tabs, they help him so much in the evening. We are still EBF and AF showed up while we were away and it was evil..I forget how tiring it is.

No, sadly I have seen the videos on Youtube. What is really bad and embarassing, is that sometimes I find myself singing their songs!!! Sometimes, too, if Declan is fussing in the car, he will quiet down if I sing a Wiggles song.

Yup...all the generic formulas you find now pretty much have DHA and AHA in them. The twins formula consumption seems to be dropping a little since they are eating solids 3 times a day. They can both down 1.5 canisters of stage 2 baby food. I even have them eating foods with granola, rice, etc within! Zak loves eating the Gerber Puffs and Hana is still working on it. They are growing up soooooooo fast. Once they get accustomed more to textures (my huge challenge with the both of them), table foods here we come!
