@ NEssa: Hm I thought the minipill was the only option that is safe while breastfeeding?

http://women.emedtv.com/yaz/yaz-and-breastfeeding.html

It appears Yaz is not recommended for breastfeeding moms. Nessa talk to your doc to change your contraceptive; there are pills that are way safer for breastfeeding moms that don't interfere with your supply. You can relactate, it is possible, women do it a lot. Also domiperone is a wonderful drug that helped many moms to build up a good supply.

Kellymom is a great resource that lists pills that are compatible with breastfeeding:

http://kellymom.com/health/meds/birthcontrol.html#conclusion

What about a Paragard IUD? I'm on the Mirena and I (L) it, but I think you can't be breastfeeding on it - Paraguard yes...it doesn't have any hormones. I love the IUD - it is soooooooo nice to not have to remember taking anything!:dance::dance:

sorry if this is TMI, but i had my tubes tied when i had my c-section and i was told my periods would be off for a while, i had like a day of dark brown spotting a couple of weeks ago, first sign of bleeding since i had molly, since then noting, anyone know if this is normal with having a tubal?

I can tell you my experience since I had a tubal when I had my c-section. I had the babies in January and didn't get my first cycle until April (and that is with purely formula feeding). The first cycle was so light that I don't even know if I would call it that. Then...28 days later it returned as normal and has been that way since. So...give it a little more time.

This may seem like a strange question, but I'm thinking about the logistics of taking the baby somewhere when I'm alone and have several things to carry. I live in a second-floor apartment. Obviously, I'll be loading the baby in the car last and unloading him first, but this will mean putting him in his bassinet while I'm loading or unloading groceries or gear. I guess that's what people do, just put the baby in the crib while loading or unloading? Just feels strange to be outside the apartment when the baby's alone inside, but there's no other obvious way to handle it, and it would only be for a couple of minutes at a time.

Caybee -

We live on the second floor of our condo building, around the back from the parking lot. It has taken much creativity on our parts to devise a system that works. I have brought the babies up before, strapped into their infant car seat, and left them for the two minutes it takes for me to run back to the car and fetch the other stuff. Most of the time, I save the big shopping for when Daddy is home and he can either watch the babies or carry the babies up for me. I am wondering how it will work when we buy the convertible seats this weekend. I think we need to buy two baby carriers for each of us to have so we can carry one baby on our chest and the other in our arms. It is Florida and still 90 degrees during the day. You can't take one baby to the car and leave them there while getting the other. You can't leave the car running or it and your baby will most likely be gone.

Nessa, when I had all the trouble with breastfeeding, I was searching for answers everywhere. I actually did an email consult with a doc in Canada who is known for his work with breastfeeding. He recommended domperidone. I asked my doc here and he was willing to prescribe it, said I would be able to get it at a compounding pharmacy, but he wanted me to try Reglan first. So if you can find a compounding pharmacy, you may be able to get domperidone if you want to try.

Caybee-I have twins as well and I always have to take them to daycare by myself. My husband goes to work before the daycare opens. I don't have a choice but to leave one baby in the house as I put the other in the car. I also don't have a choice to leave them both in the house as I load/unload the car. Although, when I get to the daycare I do not leave them in the car. I take one out, set him on the sidewalk, then get the other baby out, set him on the sidewalk, then get the bags out of the car. I then knock on the door at the daycare and they send someone out to help me. Otherwise, one of the babies would be left in the car there as well. It's just impossible for me to carry them both at the same time in their car seats or in baby carriers. The only difference between us is that I live in a very small town. My house is on a secluded driveway that is only family so I don't really have to worry about leaving them alone for those few minutes it takes me to get them both in and out. If I were you I would unload the baby, put him in the house, then go back and get the stuff left in the car. I would say there is a very small chance of anything happening to him during that brief time. I wish I had other options and didn't have to do it the way I do but, you know, we do what we have to do.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

Hello

Caybee, congratulations on that beatiful little baby, he is precious and I am glad to hear breastfeeding is going well, and happy belated happy birthday to Allie and Jona, well we are doing good but I would like to ask you if any of you have any expreience with baby reflux...according to our doctor Matthew has reflux since he still refuses to eat our pediatrician told us that he relates pain with food and that's why he refuses the bottle , the only way he would eat is when is about to fall asleep or when he wakes up from a nap or asleep , so I always have to have a bottle ready to feed him, and the whole feeding situation is very stressful since I always have to make sure he takes enough naps so he would eat, and we can't go out becuase he won't eat unless he is in his crib half asleep, but the problem is that he doesn't have any of the other synptoms, he doesn't cry much, only when he is tired, he doesn't arch his back, he sleeps well at night, he doesn't spit up much, he is a happy baby but juts won't eat.

He is gaining weight well because I feed him every opportunity i have (half asleep or asleep), but we are concerned he's been taking Zantac for abouyt a month but it hasn't made much difference in a few days we have an appoinment at the hospital for some test to where they will see what happens in his stomach when he eats, the problem will be to get him to eat!!!

I just wanted to see if anynone has expreience with something like that

I get to go...baby is crying

Thanks

One of my twins has reflux. He's on prevacid and it works great. Plus, we put rice cereal in all his bottles which seemed to help even more than the prevacid. He used to scream after each feeding and now it doesn't bother him at all. You may want to check on the prevacid to see if that would help better than the zantac. You may want to ask about the rice cereal as well. Also, we put Trace asleep on an elevated pad so his head is above the rest of his body. That seems to help a lot as well. Good luck!!

Thanks booty for your quick response

Well Matthew doesn't cry after he is done eating since he is pretty much asleep by the time he finishes his bottle he just keeps sleeping, he doesn't mind sleeping on his back, he just refuses to eat...we have switched formulas thinking maybe he just didn't like how it taste, but no, nothing changed, I guess we just have to get that test, and rule out reflux or start him in other medicine, I guess our doctor mention the medicine you are giving your little one but he says he doesn't want to give him anything stronger until we know is really reflux since he doesn't have any other symptoms only refusing to eat when he is awake.

A compounding pharmacy is where a pharmacist actually makes your meds for you, like an apothecary. He will mix some special blends of ingredients to get the exact prescription for your situation. You'll probably have to look one up in the phonebook or your doc should know one in the area. I actually had to have an apothecary make me a remedy for a condition I had when I was pregnant.

Thanks Staashi .... I didn't see Nessa's question until just now :)

Well, Declan had a F/U appt. at the doctor. His ears are fine now. The doctor said, since the inhaler did not seem to make a difference, he probably does not have asthma. Still doesn't explain the raspy breathing. Argh!

I gave notice at Declan's daycare. He is switching daycares in 2 weeks. I am so mixed about this. At his current daycare, the director is a witch and is instituting a new policy where kids have to be there by 8:30. Does not work with our schedule. The new daycare director is a lot more flexible. Declan really took to her and hugged and kissed her. I think it will be a good program, I am just a bit sad because he has been at the other daycare for a year and likes the teachers.
