Zaid slept in a bassinet, then a pack n play in our room til he was a year old. We transitioned him to his crib after his birthday and he did just fine. He loves his bed now. The peace of mind was great when he was little. I dont think I could leave my newborn in their own room. Not saying there is anything wrong with it, im just a worry wort lol.

We took Zaid for new shoes today. I swear this kid doesnt know how good he has it. Sof and I joked about the hand me downs we had as kids. We got Zaid a pair of Nikes for 40$ and a pair of Brown stride rites for 50$ I cant help but buy him the best. I know in a month or two they will be too small but, I just cant stop myself lol.

Not that this is relevant to babys but I wanted to say I got my promotion last week and was extended an offer Friday for a branch about 20 mins from my house. I of course excepted. I start at the new location September 1st. I am so excited to finally be THE BOSS!! lol. Hopefully now that I will make my own schedule it will allow me more time with Zaid and hubby this fall, especially with me starting 2 classes for school next week.

Congrats on the job Zaidsmommy!

We won't be cosleeping. I'll have Sebas in our room on the pack and play during day time naps, and on his crib at night. I think it will work better for us to take turns at night tending to the baby so we can both get some rest.

Thanks for the responses about the asthma. It's just frustrating because hubby and I have been telling the pediatricians(actually Declan has seen all 3 at the office) about this raspy breathing he makes at times. They all kept telling me his lungs sounded great, it wasn't asthma, etc. I was a little concerned about asthma, because I have read that there is a correlation between having a diaphragmatic hernia and asthma. But all of the docs cound never find anything. Then, one of the pediatricians suggested it was trachea malacia and he would outgrow it. However, an ENT he saw recently said it was not that. I just want to make sure Declan gets the right treatment. Hubby and I both feel that the inhaler doesn't help at all. We see the doctor again next week. He's not struggling to breathe or anything, just has a raspy sound.

Caro - I love your nursery! So cute :)

Congrats Kel!!!!

About sleeping: we kept Declan in our room, first in his pack n play, then in his crib, for the first year. It gave me such peace of mind to be able to wake up and check on him right away.

About the pinkeye. I think I would not have gone to a birthday party when another kid has pinkeye. I totally undrestand that some guests cancelled on us. Some moms have to go to work, they can't afford taking their kids out of daycare for days because my son had pinkeye and they got infected from him. I don't mind. At least the pressure was off of me to be there for everybody at the same time. We had a great party, lots of cake and fun.

Caro@ que lindo, so cute, I love Snoopy, how are you feeling? any contractions?

Evi@ I saw the pictures of Allie on fb, She is adorable, what happened to the b-day hat? she didn't like it?

I had a crazy -dissapointing weekend, yesterday I was suppoused to go for dinner with a good mommy-friend and when I asked my Mother in law if she could babysit for me she said that sorry but she is not allowed to babysit if I'm going out with somebody else but my husband, so she can bbsit just if I'm going to the gym or out with hubby, can you believe that @##$%%%??? I'm so upset with my in laws, they both think that because I have a baby I'm not allow to go out and leave my baby, hello, I'm just going out for dinner not even partying but no, is not a good idea to them, they are so close minded. When I told my mom about that she got so mad, seriously they are too much. Silvio (hubby) still doesn't feel ready to stay with the baby by himself, don't ask me why (I still don't get it) and this week we were suppoused to go out for dinner and a movie and we were going to ask my MIL if she could watch Sofia for us but we heard that she is expecting for us to invite her to come with us :angry::angry:

Then I contacted my job to talk to them about my situation and they want me to go back to work part time they even asked me wich hours were more convenient to me and I told them 8am-12pm they said ok the only problem is that we need somebody to take Sofia to my sister in law (the babysitter),so we asked my MIL and of course she said no, is too much of an incovenience, right, she needs to be on facebook 24/7 so to help us just for a little bit is too much for her. . Ok I better stop with this but please tell me if I'm not right about being upset?

Have a good night girls...

@Eveline: Sorry about the pink eye...it is one of those things that spreads wicked fast! I'm glad you still had a good time at the party

@Vi: MILs, I feel your pain :ranting:

I think you should help Silvio become more comfortable with babysitting - when you go to the gym is a perfect opportunity. When I go back to school after Sebas arrives (4 more courses to go till I get my associates, aagghh!) Justin will babysit by himself for 2 hours, twice a week

I think it will still be a while for us before Sebas arrives - I've had what I think are braxton hicks (my belly tightens but it's not painful or anything), but he hasn't dropped yet, he's still up against my lungs making it really difficult for me to breath :help: First things first we need to try to get him to turn from OP to OA.

Saludos,

Caro

Kavi had his 18 months checkup today(even tho he turned 18 months a couple weeks ago!) and two shots. He cried a lot from just being examined by the Dr. I think his memory is better and he remembers being unhappy last time so he cried early. hehe. But he is ok now.

I didn't plan for Kavi to sleep in our room for very long and didn't plan to cosleep...but things don't always go as planned. lol. :P He has slept in many different places but rarely his crib and having a crib was mostly a big waste for us. He was fine at one time w/ his bassinet. Not his crib, I seriously think it's the bars and I don't blame him haha. We are soon going to have him just sleep in his toddler bed(crib becomes one) because he is a pro at getting out of a big bed from sleeping on one so often. We have been practicing. I also blame some of the lack of consistency on my family visiting a lot over the past year. They moved away which was hard for me and them, and they come to visit often and sleep in Kavi's room which has kinda ruined any patterns. Oh well, I know he'll be fine overall. :)

In one hour and three minutes my little babygirl will be ONE year old...at 11:03am.

Happy Birthday Mamacita.

Belated happy birthday Allie!!!:)

@Vi: I would be upset too.... Especially when you know that your mom would probably do anything to be able to watch her and your MIL doesn't want to. Grandmothers should want to help out and spend time with the baby but unfortunatelzy it isn't always the case. I find it a little strange that your husband is uncomfortable watching Sofia for a few hours, don't know ,but maybe a cultural thing? I guess his mother raised him pretty conservative, the wife has to tend to the children non-stop.... can you talk to him? Tell him that you need some time for yourself too, just for your own sanity. If all else fails, can you take Sofia with you or find another babysitter? Sorry, I understand that must be frustrating...

@autum: does it sound raspy when he is inhaling or exhaling or both? Is it constant or only at certain times? What kind of medication is he using? does he hyperventilate? >50 breaths/minute? maybe they can switch it and it will help, definitely try to give them as many details as possible about his breathing pattern. good luck.

Happy belated birthday, Allie!

Caro, wow, you're getting so close now!

For the first week, I think I slept three hours out of 24 each day, and a couple of days ago, I realized I was afraid to go to sleep at all, especially when I was home alone -- I'm another one obsessed with watching him breathe. But after I realized what was going on, I did manage to get a few hours back to back. The one thing that scares me is I keep falling asleep while nursing him, especially in the middle of the night. I sit on the sofa with the boppy and usually put him in the football hold, so there's really no way he can roll off, but it's still very unsettling to wake up after an hour or so and realize we've both been asleep. I've also pulled him from the cosleeper into our bed a couple of times to try to nurse him on my side and fallen asleep that way. That scared me. I hope as my own sleeping patterns improve that I can either stay awake more easily or find a way to nurse him while he stays in the cosleeper -- once the incision heals completely, that may be easier.

Yesterday, I had what I was afraid was a pretty significant bleed from the incision site, after having very little pain and no signs of infection. I have no medical training and have never had surgery, so I didn't realize this was just old fluid draining and perfectly normal. But I was home alone and became very aware of the what-ifs that I'd never thought about before. Now there's a paper on the fridge with Rayan's pediatrician's number, feeding instructions, location of premixed formula, etc., and I'm going to get spare keys made for my sister and parents just in case.
