@ Caro, I hope he will turn for you. It is definitely not too late.

I went for induction Friday 5:30 am. Had little progress all day but epidural made it easy. Epi became much less effective when they turned me on my side to lower my BP. They redosed. Late Friday night I was suddenly at 10 cm, up from 4 or 5 two hours earlier, but he would not descend. Pushed for some time but doctor saw no progress and felt he was just too big and might get stuck and make c-section more difficult, so we switched tactics, and Rayan Driss was born by c-section at 12:19 am Saturday weighing 9 pounds 3.3 ounces. We are so in love with him. I feel good, can't sleep but getting around with little pain. We can stay until tomorrow but may go home today.

oh wow, big baby. congratulations

Congrats Caybee!!! Can't wait to see pics of Rayan :)

Yay Enzo! Getting so big!!!

Declan had his 15 month checkup today. I forget the actual numbers, but I remember he was in the 32 % for weight and 98 % for height and head was 80 %. That was the good part of the visit. The bad part was learning that he has mild asthma and now has an inhaler to be used as needed. Honestly, though, I kind of suspected this. Since early on (I can't remember if birth or since his surgery), hubby and I noticed a raspy sort of breathing at times, but whenever we took him to the doctor, his lungs were clear and they didn't hear it. Then, a doctor said he had trachea malacia. However, his regular pediatrician disagreed. When we saw the ENT last month, he said he did not have trachea malacia. Today, Declan finally did the raspy breathing in the doctor's office. He also has another ear infection

We were supposed to wait and see the ENT in October, but I am calling tomorrow to see if this changes things and he needs to be seen sooner. I'm sure having mild asthma is no big deal, but I am feeling really stressed now. I know it is because anything medically wrong hits me harder because of all the other stuff he has been through and I am still a bit of a paranoid mommy. Please please please someone give me reassuring words so I cam bring myself back to reality and not stress!!! Thanks :)

I am sorry to hear about the asthma. Jaylyn has an inhaler but has to use it when she is near pets because shes allergic. I don't know anything really about baby asthma. I understand your stress. We just had a 15 month appointment and ugh more problems that I don't see.

((((((((((((((((((((((((Carol Anne & Rayan)))))))))))))))))))))))))) Congrats! I'm so glad you're doing well. Stay in the hospital one more day and let them take care of you. Why go home sooner?!? - you'll have your fun in no time. He really was a big baby...but good for you that you got to know what labor feels like and hey - c-section is not so bad.

Lots of love to you three!

On the other hand - Enzo had his 4 month check up today. He now weighs 15lbs 7.5 oz and is a whopping 26 inches long. OMG!!!:blink::blink: He has grown 5.5 inches since he was born - and three of those were in the last month. The doc was amazed. He also got his vaccines today - dear Lord, I hate that. I think I cried more than he did. My little angel. :crying:

That is great a strong healthy boy. :)

good idea. Note to self, pack Baby einstein dvd's. Unfortunately Ben doesn't like watching TV much, he can't even sit still to eat a cookie, but it may be worth a try.

This is fabolus idea. Never thought about it too much but we are planning a trip to Jamaica this Christmas. Jaylyn loves Sesame Street cookie monster her favorite and Yo gabba gabba

Hope you enjoyed your rest, Vi!

@ Nessa, I just realized the link I posted doesn't go directly to his hospital announcement but to a list of parents. We are Caroll Anne and Jamal on August 8.

Before discharge, they had us watch a SIDS video that said not to use a sleep positioner, but Rayan balls up and rolls to his side to sleep, and it looks like he could roll on over, so I'm using the positioner to keep him on his back, at least until it feels normal to him. He doesn't seem to mind, and I can't see a suffocation risk since it can't go anywhere near his face. ETA: Or should I leave it so he can roll to the side in case he spits up?

He still sleeps so much, and I've just been leaving him in the car seat in his stroller much of the time and just rolling him around with me while I do housework so I can see him at all times, rather than leaving him in his bassinet. Does this sound okay? The only drawback I can see is the car seat doesn't allow him to stretch his limbs out all the way, so when one of is on the sofa, we'll either cuddle him or put him on his back next to us so he can stretch. I'm also wondering if the seated position can contribute to his constipation? I don't want to just put him on a blanket on the floor yet as I walk around because the cats are still trying to figure him out. But I should be able to get down on the floor with him today, so maybe I can find some age-appropriate exercises to keep things moving.

He's smacking his lips. Can't believe it's already time to nurse him again this morning!

Caroll Anne, Enzo loved to sleep on his side - now he's all belly but the side was his favorite. If you can, I'd let him sleep on his side if he's comfortable that way. Don't worry, you'll be fine. Remember, he likes the fetal position right now because that was his position for so long...he'll start to stretch out soon. :)

Yeah, my sister says I gave birth to a toddler  He has a serious face when his eyes are open, and the perspective with those shoes stuck out in front makes him look even bigger. But if I posted a pic with him in frog pose or on the changing table with his cord stump, he'd look his age :) I'll find something more representative for the siggy.

@ Staashi, I guess all the stuff about keeping him on his back has me paranoid, but I'll try to give him the freedom to sleep as he chooses, when I'm awake and watching him anyway. I did put him down on a blanket for a good while today so he could stretch out, and he enjoyed it, finally gave us a messy diaper too, after 2 1/2 days. Nobody ever told me I'd be happy to see a messy diaper, or that my own kid's poo would not stink  Or that I would not care if I got peed on. Or that holding him would kill c-section pain better than oxycodone. He managed to leak twice today somehow, once on hubby and once on me, and this evening, we had our first changing table fountain, but he got himself instead of me. I was laughing so hard, and he was just shocked and then upset. His next nursing session lasted 40 minutes (they're usually around 20) until I finally just cuddled him since I think he was just nursing for comfort at that point. Again, I never thought I'd think of anyone's urination as something special to remember  Postpartum hormones must do some really freaky things to your brain. I guess it's that oxytocin.

i'd place Ben on the sleep positioner on his side. I think it's the safest position. nowadays he doesnt use the positioner so i put him on his back and he rolls to his side every now and then.

Same brand?

I heard about the false alarms, I think I still rather wake up for a false alarm than the alternative
