Poor Sofia (and poor Vi!). I hope you got the Orajel, that she's feeling better, and that you've both gotten some rest.

@ chnst That makes the most sense. I'll put any papers they give me into a file folder and then worry about the baby book when there's time. I think part of the freak-out yesterday was because we hadn't yet written a birth plan and also because we're putting my husband's ROC packet together to mail on the 7th, so I've felt a lot of pressure to get paperwork done. But the birth plan is written, and all of the other crucial stuff should be in order by tomorrow evening. Then I'll just handle the nonessentials as time and energy permit

I'm the USC.

@ Vi: Give Hylands teething tablets a try before trying Orajel, it's pretty strong stuff. Can you see teeth budding at all? Good luck!

@ Evi: Oh I remember that... But Ms. Allie wasn't as eager as Jona to make an appearance... I could tell from like week 24 that Jona would be early, that's when my preterm labor started and the obgyns didn't take it seriously til 32 weeks. I spent a night at L&D with terbutaline shots and then the ob finally believed me. He didn't wanna run a nonstress-test on me... ANyways, for my next pregnancy, my sister gave me fenoterol, the German and safer version of terbutaline (which isn't even FDA approved for stopping labor). If I run in the same problem, I will take the equivalent dose of fenoterol instead of terbutaline... And beyond 35/36 weeks. She took it til 39 weeks and her DS was born 40+2, a wonderful gestation I think. No jaundice there!!!

Hmmm baby books... I am too lazy for that. I started a photo album with the "birth certificate" from the hospital, it's like a little paper with footprints and stats and the midwife's signature. But that's as far as I have ever gotten... I just don't find the time to work on it.

I need prayers for my sister. She's at the hospital being induced right now. They had a hard time detecting fetal heartbeat this morning and it is very low. She can't have an epidural because of the heparin shots, and therefore they don't want to do a c-section. They are trying to deliver the baby naturally right now. weight was estimated at 4500g. In case the baby dies/or gets worse they are going to do general anesthesia and do a emergency c-section. She is devastated and scared to death, the way they explained it and had her sign the consent forms for the worst case scenario. I hope all goes well..... :( I so wish I was there right now....

this waiting is annoying, I didn't hear anything for a while, so hopefully it is good news, thank God I am soo busy today. Last I heard, they gave her oxygen and some heart drugs to keep Clara's little heart pumping and she had moderate contractions. I will keep you posted.

Keep us posted Steffi.... So far it sounds ok... Just the Heparin is quite a concern in case of a section. Why did she have to take it? Your poor sister and niece. :(

@ Vi: Sometimes you cannot see the teeth yet... So I would try the Hyland pills, worst that happens is that they don't work. She might have other issues... Did you try new foods or cereals on her? That can constipate or make them gassy and then they cannot sleep... Also, at 4 months Jona had some sort of sleep regression which is normal. It lasted for about 2 weeks and he went back to 3 hour sleep stretches. Until the teeth came... Eversince, it's been erratic. He's in quite some pain. We do see corners though of the upper two premolars now and the lower ones are quite close too (we see the white shining through the gums). So we hope it will be better once those teeth come out.

I would just take it easy with Sophia, no stimulation even when she is up. No talking, no ligthts or just very very low lights. Maybe you can read while she's sitting on the couch with you. That's what I did when Adam woke up at night. She might be teething and I second the Teething Tablets. My kids both took to them wonderfully.

@Stef: OMG...I'm nervous for you. I understand trying to avoid a c/s and I'm all about it (you know how I feel about it) but in your sisters case....I really think they've waited too long with the induction and now are putting mom and baby in danger. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys. Good luck. Hang in there little Carla

I'm definitely getting those tablets today, thank you girls.

I haven't tried the cereal again, i'll wait a few weeks, Sofia is not ready for cereal and I don't want to force it. BTW ,yesterday I got the famous Dr.Sears book froom the library,so interesting.

When she wakes up at night we don't turn any light on, or change the diaper, nothing, I just hold her and rock her but last night this girl was talking non stop and just wanted to be hold and walked. She is taking a nap right now.
