I am going through that now x 2! Since they have figured out how to roll and to perform arches while laying on their backs, they think it is play time when I am changing them. Zak will lift his back repeatedly up and down, turn sideways, and basically do anything to be a wiggle worm. The phrase "Mommy says NO" has been said an awful lot this week. Hana is not quite as bad, but she still loves to turn and look at the wipe warmer or play with the wood on the backside of the changing table. My husband has kind of had the summer off because I am home all the time. So when he went to change one of them during the weekend, he came out and said, "OMG they have surely changed since the beginning of June. How do you get them dressed?" :star: I am just waiting for Zak to piece together how to take off his diaper. He already plays with the strips when you put it on.

@ Anna - Declan hit that phase at about 9-10 months I think and it was a NIGHTMARE!!! He still goes through phases where he wiggles and gets up and screams. For us, NOTHING worked, and I tried distracting him any way I could. He just wanted to be active and play. So what I learned was how to change his diaper while he was standing up. He could tolerate that more than if he was lying down. Good luck!

@ Stef - Your trip sounds wonderful! Have a good time with hubby. We are definitely heading to Canada in a few weeks too, for a long weekend. My mom is coming up to visit for my hubby's birthday, and she wants to go to the Granby Zoo (since we talked about what a great time Declan had, she wants to see his reactions too). So we will do that and then probably some other sightseeing. I heart Montreal so much ..... and I am pretty sure that is where Declan was conceived!!! Is it going to be the 3 of you or just you and hubby?

@Anna: had the same problem, the only thing that would distract him, was to give him a "forbidden" object, like my wallet, carkeys, or letting him "help" by holding the diaper cream. It does help to make funny faces or totally exagerate everything you say. "eeeeeeeewwwwwwwww Benny has stinkieeeeeeee" hahaha, that makes him laugh and hold still for a while (and sometimes reach right into his mess).

@autum: we are taking Ben and two friends. I can't wait!! I've never been to Canada. Any tipps??? I'm excited. Where excactly is that zoo that you've been talking about? Enjpy your weekend!

OMG Ben is soooo cute and he looks like his daddy I think :). He got so big.

We're going to Canada too in August. Only the hubster and me for four days. He just booked the trip without telling me about it. It's probably better to do that because I kept talking him out of everything but he really wanted to go just with me.

I'm gonna try the forbidden object thing. Cause we made faces, tried putting on diapers while crawling (what a pain, plus I'm scared to hurt him with the Snappi while crawling)... Talking etc doesn't cut it nowadays....

He has been working on several molars for weeks now. He slept for an hour at the most, last two nights 30 minutes. He then decided to get up at 6 am. Et voila, here I am totally tired while he crawls all over the place and chases the cat. I just hope those molars cut through soon....

Ben was waking up in 45 minute intervals last night..... But I see 3 teeth coming in. It just takes forever.

@Evi: yay for Canada! Is your MIL taking the kids?

Dylan is 28 months and the final tooth came through a while ago but the pressure of it pushing down is still driving him nuts...so we are still not done

Caybee, I posted an article about fetal positioning a while back, let me know if you want me to post it again. There's a lot of things you can do to help that baby get in the best position. Or PM me if you want me to send it to you :)

Saludos,

Caro

Caro, thank you. I'll look back through the archives when I get home, and if I come up empty, I'll ask you for that list. I read an article today that suggested a lot of hands-and-knees stuff, and my kitchen floor could certainly use some up-close-and-personal attention. The cats would love being eye-to-eye with me as well. I wonder if they make Babylegs big enough to go over my knees :P

I can't see him "rolling" up high anymore now -- that was fun while it lasted -- but I feel a lot of flutters down low, like he's flapping his arms around on both sides. If I had to make a guess, I'd say he'll come out to be about a pound less than whatever their final measurement turns out to be because I'm not nearly as uncomfortable as I'd expect to be, though the pelvic twinges are getting old real fast and I'm up to two pillows between my knees and four under my head. Before my husband left, he was using two pillows and I was using four, and now he says there will be none for him when he gets home.

Jenn, you remain in my thoughts daily. Hope Wadi remembered the cookies!

@ Stef - Here is a link to that zoo.

http://www.zoodegranby.com/en/visite_nouveautes.htm

It is 50 minutes south of Montreal according to a website I saw.

When I was in Montreal a couple of summers ago, I loved taking a jetboat ride through the Lachine Rapids. Not baby friendly though. I haven't been to Montreal since I had a baby, so I am not sure of kid friendly activities. Touring Old Montreal and the Notre Dame Basilica is always nice, as well as the art museums and of course, having a glass of wine at a sidewalk cafe! I'll be interested in hearing about kid friendly things you guys do. Hubby has relatives in Niagara Falls, so we have toyed with the idea of taking a trip there later in the summer.

@ Eveline - Where in Canada are you going?

I LOVE Canada!!!

We're going to Victoria. I had to look it up to see where it was hehe. I have never even looked into going to Canada.

About the babysitting: Well, DH planned it but didn't ask my MIL if she could watch the kids. I called her today and she won't be there the exact same days that we are in Canada. So I have no idea what to do now. My other option would be a girl that lives around here but she starts school again on August 28th so we would need somebody for an extra two days...I don't know. We'll see. I guess DH hasn't figured out that we just cannot be as spontaneous anymore
