Yeah cruising is fun. Allie is cute when she tries to sit down, it's a piece of work though. She stands on the table then leans back a little bit and squats...the she changes her mind and gets back up and does that for another two or three times until eventually she gets to squat low enough to just let go of her deathgrip on the table :luv::lol: . So cute.

Girls

I just realized that Sofia is loosing her hair, I found her hair in her boopy pillow, her clothes and her crib, is is normal? she was born with alot of hair and I have been watching my poor daughter loosing it not in crazy amounts but still is kind of freaky. She has a Drs. appointment on Friday, I guess I should wait to see him. Another thing is that again, since last week everytime I'm breastfeeding she poops, is like if the milk goes through her,she is pooping about 7 times a day ad sometimes it has a greenish color, normal??

Vi: Both things that are happening to Sofia are totally normal. Adam would poop ALL THE TIME..and everytime I fed him. I heard it rumbling in his belly and out it came...argh. I changed diapers a lot when he was that little. Also both my kids had old man hair. Allie was born with more hair than Adam but lost a bunch up top after birth to grow new hair. It's normal, it has to do with the hormones that she got from you during pregnancy and birth and now it's all worn off so she loses hair just like you lose your hair. It will grow back.

@Vi: Ben had green poop. Do you have a lot of milk? The green poop is a result of an imbalance of foremilk and hindmilk in her diet. Let her just nurse on one side until she "empties" it instead of switching to the other side too soon. It's ok if she just nurses on one side at one feeding, then the other side next as long as it doesn't cause you discomfort. Foremilk is the more watery substance that she drinks first, then the milk substance changes to more fatty milk. That's why she poops more frequently and green. It is common in mothers who have an abundant milk supply because the babies are usually full before they even get to the "hindmilk".

Hairloss is normal too, like Eveline said either hormonal or mostly on the back of the head because most infants spend most of their time on their backs nowadays with SIDS prevention etc.

Of course I don't have babies yet, but I can tell you what happened with me! I was born with black hair (and brown eyes). After all my hair feel out (at the same time as Sofia's it seems), my hair grew back in blond, then as I got older gradually changed to red-ish blond, red, brownish red, then brown (and that's where it stayed). When I was about 8 months old, my eyes turned blue and now I have some of the most blue eyes that you'll see.

I'm sure that each baby is different though and maybe her hair will stay the same color, maybe not! :)

you're welcome! Hope her hair grows back pretty and soon!

@Caro: why don't you flush some tums down with the tea? I remember living on tums, they were an essential part of every meal and I could NOT DARE to leave the house without them. I don't think I ever had real heartburn until I got pregnant.

Heartburn, the last 10 days of pregnancy. Tums, Nexum, dairy, sleeping upright, nothing helped for me at all.... I thought I had a stomach ulcer or something. Especially since I had never experienced heartburn before! Nasty!

@Evi: Woohoo for Allie! :) Does it count that JOna cruises in the crib? He pulls himself up and moves all the way along it while I put laundry away or get ready... So cute...

@ Vi: All normal. LIke previous posters said, green poop usually means too much foremilk. I never nursed Jona on 2 sides so far. He only ever eats from one side and is perfectly full.... Google La Leche League if you need more answers or strategies for the issue!

I had a HUGE jar of Tums. Between being on bedrest (and reclined) and having twins pushing on my tummy, I got A LOT of heartburn. The worst part, when I got it bad at night it would trigger an asthma attack! I found that cutting back on the truly acidic foods helped as well. (Towards the end I said good bye to tomato products and OJ because they made me miserable). Tums were wonderful and did help a lot.

@ Vi, glad you are reassured about the hair loss. My husband has told me it's traditional in Morocco to shave the baby's head one time early on to thicken the hair, but I swear I'm going to hide those clippers from him  I had lots of loose curls until my first haircut, and then my hair grew out wavy/straight. My husband had loose curls as a baby also. If this little guy gets them, I want him to keep them as long as he can!

Tums was my friend even before the pregnancy, but I didn't have much additional heartburn until the last week or so. Now I wake up two or three times during the night to take Tums and hit the restroom (I wasn't waking up for that before either, thank goodness). I don't drink any kind of juice now anyway because of the GD, but I have to have my 'maters!

I've only just started sleeping with a pillow between my knees because of the pelvic joint pain, and it makes a world of difference when I'm trying to sleep. Still hurts when getting up after sitting at my desk for a while, though. I have half a mind to tie my knees together at work.

I'm the USC.

Growing problems, granddaughter was chasing her cats and fell down two steps, unhurt, but it's time for a gate to be installed. She wasn't crawling yesterday, she is today. Since my son lives in a bi-level, the cats need access to their kitty area, but can't give that access to my granddaughter. So that is an engineering challenge I will have to solve tonight. But was just on the phone with my son to choose the right kind of gate.

We are getting into the child proofing their home stage, can't leave all those fancy dust collectors as I call them laying around.

Wife and I found a gift for her, a Fisher-Price Stroll-Along-Walker, our baby as we like to call her likes to walk and hangs on to our two fingers, this way she can use the walker as an aid, but we will be with her until she becomes competent. Photo on the box, shows a matching doll, LOL, while all the stores I went to sell the stroller, none had that doll, but finally found one, can't have a stroller without a doll to push it in. Read many positive reviews on this stroller, we feel it's a good idea for the child to get exercise by pushing one, rather than sitting and getting pushed.

But I am also very legal minded, have the box and the receipt, up to our kids to decide whether this toy is right for their baby or not. Kids sure grow fast.

i've been practicing walking with ayah around the house and outside with walking wings. she's getting more steady on her feet, and more balanced. she has a lot of fun with them too, i can tell she feels so proud of herself when she takes steps.

i'm having a hard time keeping her in her crib though. i have the mattress as low as it will go, and she keeps climbing up the crib rails and scaring me because it looks like she is going to tumble right out. she acts more like a monkey than a baby sometimes.

I had to check out the walking wings, as I'd never heard of those before. Looks like they could save the baby from quite a few bumps, especially outside where surfaces are harder and rougher.

I was wondering about baby leashes, or safety harnesses, whatever you want to call them. I know my mom had them for us, and this was before car seats and booster seats and even before seat belts in the back were mandatory for kids, so she also attached those things to the back seat of the car so we wouldn't go flying into the front seat if there was a sudden stop. They were just black harnesses with long straps of something like seat belt material attached to the back. When I mentioned them to my mom the other day, she told me a lot of people are horrified by the idea of them. Well, maybe *ahem* years ago they were :D Some of the ones I've seen lately look like monkey backpacks with long tails, and I think they're cute. They'd give the child a little more freedom than holding their hand would, but they wouldn't be able to take off suddenly and run into something or into the path of something. That's just my opinion anyway. Is there a stigma attached to them these days that I just haven't picked up on?
