Amirah didnt like the loud noises at all - when those big ones went off with all the numerous pops she flinched at every single pop, she looked a little like a firing squad victim. I tried not to laugh but not too successfully. but she liked all the colors and didnt want to leave, so we stayed and she just sat in my lap.

30 WEEKS! You know you're in the home strech when:

The crib is assembled and the baby room is painted

You start getting checked every 2 weeks

You're waddling everywhere

We are having our baby shower this weekend. I'm really looking forward to it! we had a good number of people rsvp, and we are doing it co-ed so it will be tons of fun. Hope my MIL doesn't drive me nuts like she did for the wedding

@Sheree: Congratulations, and welcome! (ps: Another boy! )

Thanks, everyone, for the tips on the nursing wear. If the pump is quiet enough, I'll be shutting my office door and using it at work. I doubt anyone would walk in, but I was thinking if they did, I could get adjusted more quickly with the right clothing. I may get a couple of the undershirts anyway since they are cheap, and I'll see how it goes. I probably wouldn't nurse with people around -- I'd probably be too shy to do it at a restaurant, for example -- but I'd like the freedom to do it if we're in a fairly isolated place where someone might appear unexpectedly.

I'm going to make a couple of baby slings, probably a Maya and a Moby since I can adjust them to my size, and I've read that they can also make it easy to nurse discreetly. One thing my mom remembers is trying to nurse me in the hospital, but her nightgown didn't open in the front, and my dad thought she was too exposed with visitors coming and going. So I'm also trying to plan for the hospital, though I'm probably overthinking things as usual :) We're about five weeks away from the induction (they're talking a week before due date), my husband is going home for a couple of weeks, and it just seems like everything is going at warp speed now :o When I'm sitting here like this, I don't even feel pregnant unless the little guy kicks me -- they say he's 6 pounds 11 ounces now, but he doesn't feel that big. It's like Christmas coming when it's 80 degrees outside, just a little hard to wrap my head around :D

Caybee, may I ask why are you getting induced?

Saludos,

Caro

woohoo Caro. Soon you'll be holding your baby in your arms :)

Today I'll go back to work :( I'ml debating if I should take my pump to work, what do you guys think? I think the longest I've gone withoug bf that he slept all night was 9 hours. I'll be done bf and getting ready for work at 730 and then i'll only bf at 1930. I have 30 mins break that I'd have to spend in the bathroom pumping and then I'll go back to my desk and I'll swallow the food in 5 min. :dead:

I can pump in 10 min, but then going to the bathroom, sassembling the pump, taking off my blouse, putting the milk in the fridge, going back to my desk...

Good luck Nessa! Hope things go smoothly for you today

I say take the pump - and see how you're feeling. In case you get too full and uncomfortable, you have a solution. Maybe you should ask your boss for an extra break for pumping?

Caro

OMG how many hours does it take for a working mom to get ready for work in the morning?

530 - baby wakes me up and falls back to sleep

530-6

- make coffee (remember to make 6 cups next time, because 3 won't be enough)

- take a shower and try on clothes until i decide on what to wear.

- reinforce my pant's buttons because the pants are too tight and i'm afraid they'll burst.

- starts laundry

- put breastmilk bags in the sink to thaw

6-830:

- change baby

- feed baby. baby takes 15 min in between and want to be fed again.

- have breakfast (anything that doesn't require preparation and that i can eat while breastfeeding, like yogurt)

when he takes his breaks I:

- turn on the oven, season the fish and the potato that I previously set in a portion i'll eat. Chop lettuce cuz i don't have time to make a fresh salad.

- put on contacts and make up (basic concealer, mascara)

- put the clothes in the drier, then put the clothes away

- change baby again

- starts putting together what I have to take with me.

#1: my purse

#2: my gym bag

#3: Ben's bag that I'll have to add the bottles with the milk last thing before i leave

#4: The pump bag

#5: A bag with my lunch, that i'll attach with the pump bag so when I get to work I can carry my purse and the 2 bags inside

- get baby dressed

- get dressed

- put my lunch in the lunch bag

- put the milk in the bottle and the bottles in his bag

- make 3 trips to the car to put everything in it, including the baby (i can't forget him lol)

830-915:

- leave the house. Drive to daycare. Take him in, put bottles in the fridge, give people instructions

- drive to work.

915-923

- take everything in, put in the fridge what needs to go there and the rest in my office

923 : clock in early because i'm such a great employee and then start working

:dead:

Oh wow Nessa. You cna be glad Ben isn't potty trained yet or it's wintertime cause then you take the Snowsuit off again right before starting the car because somebody has to go potty  . Maybe it'll get easier the more often you do it but I totally understand that you have to be 100% on top of everything. When we go somewhere I have to get ready about 2hours in advance in order to have EVERYTHING.

Good luck and yay...for being at work early

I'd say we're about 90% out of diapers. He doesn't need a diaper while awake and outside. When he's sleeping I like to put a diaper on him and he asks for one when he has to poo. There's no way I can get him on the potty. He says "Mama diaper poopoo" and I put that thing on, let him do his business and then he tells me "Mama poopoo washer" and he wants the diaper off. I didn't really have to do anything, he just went to the potty by himself one day and while we had a few accidents in the beginning we are good now and he can even hold it in for a little bit when there's no potty around right away.

@ Nessa: Bring the pump. I don't know which state you are in, but in CA and NY my coworkers who were pumping were provided with a clean room and were allowed to do it every 3 hours without taking an official break. It was either state law or my employers who had those rules for bf'ing mamas.

My sister's due date is coming up soon (August 2nd). She now sees her midwife and no longer her obgyn as he pressed for c-section at 37 weeks for no reason. The midwife knew that guy is notorious for early inductions and many c-sections for no reason (but his convenience). Lots of babies ended up in NICU because of him. She's doing fine and her ob never noticed that she suffers from preterm labor too (like me). The midwife noticed right away... So we'll see when baby will make his appearance!

Wow, Anna, sounds like it might be a good idea for your sister to change OBGYNs after labor! :( My OB is the same one that my mom used for my brothers (not me, I'm too old I guess...) but he has a great reputation and my mom loves him, so I'm just praying he doesn't retire within the next couple years! If he does I don't know what I'll do!

And thanks for the recommendations ladies about the charting methods. That ladycomp seems cool, but expensive! We still plan on using condoms for protection until we are ready to start trying (and it there was a mishap, that'd be okay too), but if we didn't want to use any form of birth control then I'd definitely consider the ladycomp thing.

@Anna: we'll be aunties together! My older sister is due in 2 weeks with her third girl. She's had a terrible pregnancy and has to give herself daily shots of heparin. She has always had issues with varicose veins and this time it was so bad that she might even have to stick herself for the rest of her life. Poor thing. Her ob/gyn is great and they are going to attempt a natural birth. She went 2 weeks past her due date with the other two girls, I really hope that little "Clara" won't take too much longer.

@Caro: yay homestretch!!! If you're like me, the hospital bag is packed already, right? haha. We had a Jack&Jill Babyshower too and it was soooo much fun (except hubby getting a little too drunk later that night). Hope you enjoy it!!

@Nessa: I would take the pump too. Talk to your boss and see if they give you an extra break for pumping, many workplaces even have private rooms for pumping mothers now.

@Evi: congrats on the potty training!

@ Caro - You're far ahead of me with your preparations! :) I'm finally sanding and repainting his dresser. But I hope to be ready enough within the week, with a bag packed and car seat installed, just in case. Today I feel like I gained ten pounds overnight.

Last appointment was the first time they talked about inducing. My OB said it was because of the diabetes and the fact that he is still measuring large for his age. My blood pressure is starting to creep upward also, so they're testing for preeclampsia. Starting tomorrow, I'm going in twice a week for a biophysical profile and a non-stress test. I'm not thrilled about the idea of inducing because I'd rather everything happen at its own pace. But from the beginning and for a long time, he was measuring a week ahead anyway, and it's possible that he was conceived a week earlier than we thought, so I'm not too worried about moving the delivery up by a week. I told my husband that if they do schedule an induction, I want him to take me out for Indian food the night before as I'd prefer to get a jump start from a hot thali rather than Pitocin.

I'm the USC.
