thanks everybody. he's ebf now. he'll start on the formula next week, it'll more breast milk than formula, though. my boss told me today that i should try to feed him formula this weekend a couple times, instead of waiting and let people at daycare do it. what do u guys think?

@chuchita: i couldn't imagine using something tight to my belly after a cs. that must've hurt.

@anna: i hope you feel better soon. i didn't want to offend you, i guess unless we go through something like that it's hard to ubderstand - i'm talking about being too thin and not in a healthy way. the only thing i can tell u guys is to eat high cal food that's not loaded with bad fat. fruits like avocado that has good fat, mangoes, for example. or go ahead and have some cheesecake and pizza for me :P great that Jona ate the whole container :)

it sounds weird, but it actually helps. and isn't uncomfortable. it kind of acts like a splint for your abdomen, and made moving around after surgery a little easier and less painful.

I wish I would have known about that binder thing. I was in a lot of pain after the c/s with Adam. Oh well...

@Anna: The pics are very cute. It looks cold there though. I thought we were in Germany around the same time in April and it was wonderful warm weather at my parents (and our parents don't live that far apart).

I wore two girdles for a month - a half waist underwear one and a body suit thingie that came up to just beneath my breasts. They kept me bound up and it was great to keep me compressed so to speak. Helped to get everything back in place.

i've been wearing a girdle bodysuit like u said, but only to go out. in the house i'm always too hot to wear anything, so i'm always on my bra and panties, plus that girdle is not comfortable at all.

Okay, I have a question and I think you ladies are the best people to answer it!

I took my last birth control pill 4 days ago! We're not ready to try for babies yet, but I have several reasons for wanting to go ahead and stop the pill. 1. that was the last pill I had from the states 2. I've been on the pill for 9 years and so I think it's time to give my body a break 3. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in Dec 2007 and even though it's all gone now, I still have to go to the doctor every 4 months to make sure it hasn't come back. If it does come back then the doctors would need to do another surgery and if that didn't work I'd need to get my cervix taken out and therefore wont be able to have kids. Anyway, point is, I'd like to be ready to conceive whenever I need to and not have to wait for the BC to get our of my system (as I hear it can take a while to get pregnant directly after you stop taking your pills...but clearly not always as we've been blessed with little Enzo here! :)) Del and I are still going to use condoms as protection between now and when we get to the states around April 2010, assuming every thing goes to plan.

So, my question: what's the best site to start tracking my cycle? I'm not interested in tracking my fertility/cycle so that I can get pregnant now, but I'd like to start tracking so that I have a better idea of what my body is doing. I haven't had a "natural" period since I was 15!! As all of my periods since then have been regulated by birth control pills.

So I figured I'd start now even though I know that my cycle might be messed up for a couple months after getting off the bc. Anyway, I started bleeding today, so I'm on Day 1 of my cycle I guess. I just wondered if anyone had any particular tips or a site that they like over the others that they could point me in the direction of.

Thanks! :)

@ Marina I used Fertility Friend for the 11 months we were TTC. The free membership covered all of the essentials, it was easy to use, and every once in a while, they would throw in a free trial of all the features of the VIP membership, which were fun to see but not necessary for a good chart. Good luck!

I've been looking at nursing bras and tops and trying to figure out the best way to do this. To be honest, I'd never even heard of nursing tops until three or four months ago. Strange how some things suddenly become relevant. Before I got pregnant, I wore a lot of loose-fitting tops anyway, and I've been able to stay with some of them through the pregnancy. Today I found some nursing undershirts here and thought that might be one way to go. I could get different colors to coordinate with the tops I already have without buying a lot of specialized tops. And if the nursing didn't work out, they'd still be usable for layering. Does that sound reasonable, or do any of you nursing moms have some tips about clothing?

My sister got the little guy some BabyLegs after a friend raved to her about them. Her friend likes them because she can have her son's legs covered and change his diaper quickly and easily, and they protect his knees when he crawls. Oh, I just looked back, and it looks like Jona may be wearing some in his ticker pic, and Eveline has recommended them also :) I'm eager to see how they work out.

@Chrissy: i had that but i didn't see the doctor. i knew i was overwhelmed. i would've gone if i had any ppd sympthoms, which wasn't the case. I'm not saying you shouldn't go, you should definitely go if you're worried.

@caybee: i can't tell, because i don't nurse in public, so there's no reaon for me to buy a nursing top. The only time i had to nurse was at the obgyn and a few times at his pediatrician. it was me in a room alone with him, so i just lifted my top, lowered my regular bra and that was it.

I do have nursing bra to wear at home, 2 of them.

@vi: i just noticed the dimples, so cute, and OMG she's so big :o

@Chrissy: awww, I'm glad you're going to see your doc! Hope you feel better soon! (F)

@marinaDel: good luck with your plans. I don't have any tipps, I think I'd just do it the old fashioned way- paper and pencil as long as you're not really trying to conceive. You can easily get obsessed with that and worry about other people's experiences.

@caybee: YES for the babylegs!!! Don't know how we would've survived the winter without them. I even put them on his arms sometimes. They are definitely worth the expense and so cute. I don't like the nursing tops much either. I kind of avoided nursing in public, I usually went to a rest/family room or a bedroom when we were at someones' house. I used a big burp-cloth on airplane rides.
