Caybee - I am glad things went well for your NT scan. We are almost the same amount of weeks and I don't think my doc has me scheduled for an NT...in fact I don't even know what an NT scan is

NT is a Nuchal Translucency ultrasound scan which is performed at approx 11-13 weeks to test for fetal abnormality. It is usually accompanied with a blood test to improve the detection of down syndrome.

ROC Journey:-

05.11.2012 -- mail I-751 packet

05.14.2012 -- Packet arrived @ VSC

xx.xx.2012 -- Check Cashed

They often offer the NT scan to expectant mothers over 35 years of age since the risk of abnormalities begins to increase at that age, though I read that some doctors are beginning to recommend it to younger women.

Carol Anne - how cool that the U/S went well. That's awesome that you had that great interaction with the baby. I had an US on Friday and it was awesome! The tech was so cool and she took some amazing pics of the baby - I could see his face clearly and he even has my nose...it is rather distinct and sloping...kinda like a rounded version of Bob Hope's. He opened his eyes and was looking around. All in all, it was great to just kind of hang with him for a little while where we could see everything.

Nessa@ Great article!! I'm planning to print it and share it with hubby

I just came back from my Doctor's appointment, everything is well, the baby is facing down and in 1 month I have to go for a sonogram. This weekend we are going to visit the hospital too, I'm very excited :star: I want to be a mommy now.

This past weekend I had horrible pain in my back so I went to the gym just once, hubby was really surprised, he knows how addicted I am to the gym... now I feel guilty but I didn't have the energy so I better stayed home.

I'm posting a pic from yesterday, my mom sent me this cool skinny jeans from Peru, they fit great!.

Have a good night!

Vi - You look adorable :)

Nessa - I remember how anxious I was for my baby to arrive, especially in the last 60 days or so. It'll be here before you know it :)

I had the nuchal tube test done, I was 33 years old. My doctor gave it to me as an option, left it up to me if I wanted to do it (I had to go to a hospital about an hour away as the local hospital didn't offer it). I'm glad I did it, as I know that I would have been anxious if I didn't.

I had a follow-up visit/exam with my ob-gyn the other day. He said that, when I get pregnant again, he will send my husband and me to Dartmouth for genetic counseling and to meet with a maternal fetal medicine specialist, just to be on the safe side due to Declan having the diaphragmatic hernia. I've been starting to think about maybe going for genetic counseling BEFORE trying to get pregnant again. Has anyone here experienced genetic counseling beforehand?

The OB practice I go to has all their patients get an NT scan. I think it really depends on the practice and what your health insurance will cover.

Nawal: The pics of your twins are great! I love the outfit your daughter is wearing.

Yay to Carol Anne for getting to see her baby today!

It's hard to believe how old some of your babies are getting! Then again...my two will be a month old on Wednesday!!!!

Glad things went well Caybee :)

Declan had his 9 month checkup today and is doing great. He is definitely my tall skinny boy .... 30 1/2 inches (97th percentile), but only almost 19 pounds, which places him in the 20th percentile for weight. The doctor is not concerned though, as he eats a lot and is developmentally doing well. He is probably just genetically predisposed to being tall and skinny (wish I was!!!).

Tomorrow Kavi has his 1 year check up. I don't think he is going to weigh more than 23 lbs hehe. Last month he weighed 22lbs. He is also tall and thinner, which you already know. :P I wasn't a very chubby baby either and I am tall compared to the rest of my female relatives. So he could get the tallness from me or some other relatives, while a lot of the family is short too! It'll be interesting to see.

Congrats on the milestones, little guys! :)

Thanks!:)

yay for genetically predisposed to being tall and skinny

Yay for my boy! I just wish I was genetically predisposed too :(

I wish I was predisposed for the skinny part. I was skinny as a little kid, but now...bahhaaha. :P I am trying to lose weight though for almost a year, well since my 6 week post partum appt. And I have lost about 28 lbs since that time. Have to work harder though. :( Bla!

I am not so tall, but compared to my immediate family I am.

That's amazing that you could recognize the facial features. And open eyes, wow! My mom told me yesterday that I didn't seem "real" to her until she saw me for the first time when I was born. She said I'm getting all these chances to see the baby, and when the baby is born, I will say, "I've known you for a long time." :) When I showed my husband the pics after the appointment yesterday, he was still sleepy and couldn't focus, but when I showed them to him last night, he was amazed by the hand. He has been hesitant to express much emotion yet because he worries, I think, but last night after seeing the pictures, he hugged me and said, "I'm falling in love with the baby." I'm so glad we live in a time where the fathers can do some bonding before birth as well.

She's facing down, wow, she's starting to get ready :) What an exciting time! Enjoy the hospital visit.

How many visitors are usually allowed in the delivery room? I had only thought about having my husband there, but my sister talks like they're going to pack the room with people. I'm not sure that's allowed -- or that I want an audience.

You would have to ask in the hospital how many people are allowed during delivery or you write it in your birth plan who you want there. I had my husband, my doula and my MIL there, that was enough. Everybody else was either waiting in the waiting area or came by after Allie was born.

Everything was fine at Kavi's year old check up. :) He just weighs 22 lb 13 oz. The Dr said he is right in the middle for weight, above avg for height, and of course his head is above average but we don't have to worry about that anymore. :P

Yey for a healthy Kavi. Don't worry about the big head. Allie's head is small or at least thats what is seems like to me. She just now - at 6 months - fits hats size 0-3 months  . It will all even out as they get older or maybe he just has an extra big brain for extra-smartness later on in life  .

Yep! Or he needed just a little extra canvas for those big, beautiful eyes. Glad he had a good checkup!
