@autum: OMG I totally confused Declan with Kavi.... haha, he is so cute!! That tatoo is so cool. I can't believe how much hair he has!

@Jamie: congratulations!

ok finally I can say I see some light at the end of the tunnel with Ben's sleeping.... We went to the pool all afternoon yesterday and he must have been so tired, he passed out at 5:30, the minute we walked through the door. He slept until 8 ( I woke him up to give him a bath and dinner), but he didn't want to eat and I thought, great its going to be a long night. Went to bed at 11pm again and slept til 3:30am!! Then in our bed until 6 am. That's the best night he had in the past 8 months. I'm ecstatic.

Thanks Jenn about the picture!!! I have to ask you, because I have read other threads about food and know you are a foodie .... are you avoiding certain things during the pregnancy? I love sushi and bleu cheese (not together!) and avoided them during pregnancy. I also really like eggs benedict for Sunday brunch and had it once, then realized, oops, hollandaise, not good for a preggo. I might have been super psycho rigid about food though, because I also avoided all dyes (and they are in EVERYTHING!!!).

@ Stef - Oh girl, you messed me up because I have been going through past posts trying to find the cute pic of Kavi!!!

Hopefully Ben's sleeping continues to be good. Declan has hit a rough patch again. He is teething again and has been waking up every 3 hours. Usually, I have gotten up, comforted him and gotten him back to sleep. This is one of the only things hubby and I disagree on parenting wise. Hubby is more of a supporter of the Ferber method and I am an advocate of Dr. Sears. Last night, we decided to let hubby try his method. So, Declan cried all night long. Hubby would get up and comfort him, but wouldn't bring him in bed with us. I was out of my mind, so I actually went and slept in the guest bedroom because I could not stand to hear Declan cry. Not sure what tonight brings. I want hubby to feel like his opinions matter too, but I don't know if I can handle another crying night. Argh!

@ Autumnchik: Poor you! Hubbie is on my side with Dr. Sears luckily. I can't stand to hear Jona cry either. Every instinct cries out loud to comfort him... I hate when he cries in hubbie's arms cause he tries to feed him food....

BTW Jona likes Italian breadsticks. Maybe cause they make a sound when he bites them... He munches on them a little and maybe eats 10 crumbs or so. Better than nothing! I bought him all the snack boxes from Annie's (in bunny shape) and he plays with it. At least he started to touch food and not cry if we offer it to him.

@autum: aww sorry you had a rough night. He is waking up because his teeth cause him discomfort, what kind of message is he getting when his cries are being ignored? We tried it once because certain relatives insisted on the old-school method of cry-it-out. Ben screamed all night and fell asleep for 5 minutes at 6am sitting up with his face against the bedrails. poor thing. After that hubby changed his opinion. Thank God. He is getting up 50% of the time at night which helps a lot. Have you tried tylenol?

@Anna: yay for the food. Got to put all these new teeth to work!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the nice comments. :) I have a question though. I've had morning sickness one day since finding out I'm pregnant. The last couple of days I've felt fine with minor back aches, headaches, fatigue, and tenderness. I've been really anxious about not having morning sickness the last couple of days. I went for an ultrasound yesterday and found out I'm actually only 4 weeks and 2 days pregnant (first doctor made a slight miscalculation based on my period). Has anyone experienced not have alot of morning sickness? Some of what I've read leads me to believe I just may not be far along enough to have full blown morning sickness.

Thanks,

Jamie

Jamie, I had no morning sickness. I threw up only once and got a bit nauseous in the morning right after taking my prenatal vitamins. then i switched to night and the nausea went away.

I didn't have much morning-sickness either. I felt a little nauseous from time to time but usually it was only related to certain foods (I could not see or smell coffee the first months and I am still throwing up in my mouth when I go by the chips aisle at the store and look at chex mix. gag.) I think its a little too early for you to know if you have it, but there are quite a few ways to cope with it. Good luck with your pregnancy, I hope it's as easy as mine was. I had very little discomfort throughout the 9 months.

Just butting in here with a question if you all don't mind...

I plan on having children soon, in a year or so...but something is worrying me in the back of my mind. For the past year or so, I have not been regular in my cycles...I have gone to the gyno and she tells me that its not a big deal, its just the stress and constant changes in my sleep habits that may have brought the irregularity on and that I should not be worried about this factor playing a negative role in conceiving. I have missed 2 cycles in a row this year, and missing 1 or getting late every other month or so has become a routine. I wanted to know if this is something I should be worrying about or should I get a second opinion from another doctor? I have never conceived before and cycles have been normal till of late. I was on bc (pills) for about 6 months, but that was over 3 years ago, and my cycles were normal after I got off of that and were normal until about a year ago. Maybe I am just paranoid but it would be great if someone could offer me some good advice. Both my SO and I really wish to conceive this year or the next and I don't even want to think about it not being a possibility because of something like this.

I had the same reaction to coffee...and also with sausages. My mom would make them for breakfast and I could not leave my room until they were done eating.

Jame: no I did not have morning sickness either.

@marm: i wouldn't worry about it. I think it depends on the circumstance. I used to have very irregular period when i was young, sometimes I'd miss a period, sometimes I'd have 2 in a month. Then i started on the pill and it got better. For the past few years when I didn't need the pill anymore, it was really regular, always 30 days.

@MARM: are you the foreign spouse? Did your cycle change after you moved to the US? The first year of living here, I skipped like 7 cycles, and some of my AuPair friends back then had the same situation. Haha, we all thought we were pregnant or had cancer and really worried, but it is just the body adjusting to the new country. Don't worry too much, I think even when you skip a cycle you can get pregnant.

My morning sickness didn't hit until about 6- 7 weeks, and lasted until 13 weeks. When it does hit, it's not fun!!!. If you do get it (some women don't!) try drinking lots of iced cold water :star:

Saludos,

Caro

I agree with Chnst. When I did the Aupairyear, I didn't really have any cycle for the first 6 months and I thought the same and checked your timeline but it looks like you aren't even in the US yet.

Thanks everyone for your hopeful advice

I am actually the USC in the USA (female), my fiance (male) is the one that will come to the USA. My periods were regular after I got off the pills three years ago, but just recently this year, they have been quite random, missing one cycle or it being late is kind of becoming the norm so far this year, and I have missed two late last year, so I was getting worried. I am 22 yrs old (I know, young and LOTS of time to have kids, but I can't help worrying). But ideally, is it "try for 1 year and then see the doc" ? What is eating away at my mind is the horrible thought that maybe there might be something wrong that I can take care of now instead of it being too late once we start trying to conceive. But the doc did ultrasounds, etc and told me everything was just fine, no problems. So I guess it is not unheard of for women who don't get regular periods to conceive easily?
