We have an Evenflo Aura Travel system and we can't complain, Sofia loves her stroller and I do too. We are lucky we are getting the car seats from my sister in law so we are saving some $ on that.

Caro@ I remember the las 100 days! Wow, it seems like yesterday. Rest, rest, rest...

Today I visited the closest day care to my house (curiosity), it looks pretty good, what do you think about the price??? $965 a month, from 8am-6pm Mon-Fri.

Gotta go girls, Sofia is taking a nap with daddy..

Wow! Where do you live?

Bright Horizons near our house is $1900/month for the same hours.

Wow that is expensive and so long every day. I am so glad I can stay at home as long as I want to. I am so sorry for you girls to have to go through this! I know it is breaking my sister's heart to start day care for my nephew next month when he turns 1. But at least she only has to do it Mon-Fri from 9am to 2pm (German mommy protection laws are extensive!).

Oh my Jona rolls and crawls in his sleep now... He nearly knocked over the co-sleeper gate thingie you attach to the bed so the babies cannot fall out of bed. For now he is in his crib which is parked at my side of the bed... He was on all fours last night when he woke up! I couldn't believe it!

We are settling into our house and met some neighbors. Lots of kids around here! :)

I know, it's breaking my heart already, and he's not even born yet!

I'm hoping that we can arrange something part time. Wadi's mom will be coming to stay with us (if all goes well with the visa process) for the 3 months after I go back to work, so we won't have to put him in daycare until 6 months old. At that point, I'm hoping that we can just do partial days. Wadi doesn't start work until 10:30 or 11, and I could arrange my schedule so that I could be out of work at 4. Or we might even try to work it so that we only need MWF care, or something like that. I have enough things to worry about now though, so I'll wait a bit to start worrying about that!

Just came back from the dermatologist, she checked the moles, told me they looked good!

The one that I was most worried about she gave me the option to remove it if I wanted to, even though she said she was not worried about it. I told her to go ahead and remove it for my peace of mind, and they will analyze it, but I should be good. yay!

I'm trying, I'm trying :)

When Justin was at his old job, he worked about 1 mile away from my work, and close to home. He would go into work at 11, and I work 8-5 so he would drop off the baby at the beginning of the day, and I would pick him up from day care. Now that he changed jobs he works further away, and will be doing 9-6, so I don't know. He will have the option to work from home part of the time, but he still has to settle in the position to see how much and how often, what he can do/ can't do while taking care of the baby - If he has a conference call, probably not the best idea to have an infant screaming in the background, but reporting and that kind of thing he could do. Once we get a better idea of his rhythm at work, we'll figure out our options - maybe ask for part time, maybe ask to do M-Th & Sat instead of M-F so he only has to go to day care M-TH. When Sebastian has to start day care I'll be a walking sobbing wreck.

Saludos,

Caro

Oh Gosh...I don't even want to think about daycare. I guess we gonna start whenever Allie turns 2 or so. I'd like to go back to work but I'm also enjoying having my babies around me and see them develop and learn new things. It's so nice to actually see them do those things and not have a teacher tell me what they learned today. Daycare here for two kids would be around 1400/month. I guess I'd be working for daycare only and have not much left to support the family....

a month???

@Vi: that's a good price for NYC! We live in Westchester and fulltime daycare costs around $1900 a month for one child and there are so many additional costs for infants/toddlers/ certain activities/food/insurance etc. It's outrageous.

The campus where I go to school in upstate NY (north of Albany) has a daycare and it's the best place we have looked at so far- they only charge $40 a day. I couldn't believe the difference!! Plus I can go and visit him in between classes.

yes, that is a month - it's based on income at the base, we happen to fall into the highest income bracket

Texas??? I think you either have to get somebody that you have known forever or really have to sit down, pick out nannies and then interview them PLUS have them work one day so you can see how they interact with the kids.

and that's the highest $ they charge on base. newborns, infants are the most expensive, plus we're in the highest income level. if u make less than 28k u pay less than $200 a month.
