Yaads- you're almost there hun :star: do u know what you're having?

Ihave FB if anyone is interested...

I want to ask...does being sad and crying affect the baby?

it depends. I just took a developmental psych class and learned that human development starts with conception and the mothers' emotional status in the pre-natal period can influence development. Stress, depression and anxiety can affect the fetus' growth and personality, also may lead to preterm births. Since many pregnant women go through emotional rollercoaster rides from time to time, it is ok to be sad and cry, more than usual. However, if you feel frequently depressed, talk to your ob/gyn! They can help you.

I remember crying a lot when I watched TV.

I agree. I used to watch baby/wedding story and I would be balling at the end. I am still emotional in the sense that motherhood has made me sensitive to certain things. I get really emotional when I see a sweet gesture or if Eman does something i.e. when he tells me he loves me. Being a mom had helped me see beauty in the small things in life.

Very interesting. Thanks for the info

I cry at the silliest things...commercials on tv, ads on the radio...I am a mess sometimes! Blame it on the hormones. I think though if it is for extended periods of time and you can't "shake it" it could be more of a depression thing than just the excess hormones and I would talk to your doc.

Thanks! Ben is such a cutie :luv:

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing okay. I'm excited because my mom and my uncle are coming to visit this weekend. I think we are going to a Summerfest that one of the small towns is hosting .... there is a parade and a sampling of food from local restaurants. What are your weekend plans?

I want to ask...does being sad and crying affect the baby?

I read a study a few years back about this issue. Basically, what it said is that the response to hormones, including "sad" hormones and "happy" hormones (such as endorphins) depends on two things: the amount of hormones present in the blood stream and the amount of receptors for that hormone because hormone +receptor= response. While the baby is in the womb, he or she is developing those receptors. If the mom is sad, the hormones flowing through her blood stream reach the baby and stimulates him or her as well, who in response will develop a higher number or receptors for those hormones. If the mom is happy, it will stimulate a larger number of receptors for "happy" hormones in the baby. If the mom is depressed during the pregnancy, the baby will be more likely to suffer depression in adult life. That is why if you are feeling depressed, specially during pregnancy, you should seek counseling/ support.

Hope this helps :)

Saludos,

Caro
