We have been going a little crazy here with a fussy, teething baby. Zakaria won't chew on anything put his hand, whimpers most of the day, wants to be held 24/7, and won't take a nap. I tried Hyland's Teething Tablets today. They are a homeopathic teething aid. OMG...he took a 2 hour nap this afternoon after his first dose! I woke him up from his nap so he would sleep tonight (and to give him a bath, read to him, and give him his final bottle of the night). I will admit, I tried a tablet first because I wanted to make sure they would dissolve as I was told. When they meet saliva, they turn to a semi-sweet paste. Zak didn't mind it.

I had that same issue myself two and a half weeks ago...it was the . from hell. I kept wondering why it was like this but I just figured it was my body resetting itself. But I will also say that when I was pumping and I had been bleeding still, if I would pump longer and with more pressure it seemed like I bled heavier - bizarre.

in my log the prenatal vitamins are included, so it's counting food intake plus vitamin supplement

here's an article that shows the amount necessary

@Nessa: I started bleeding at around 7 weeks after giving birth to Adam too. It had almost gotten down and we 'did laundry' and right after that I started bleeding heavily again. I underestimated it too and the doc told me to take it easy, no heavy lifting, plenty of rest etc. I was all alone with my husband working a lot and no family near.

@Chnst: How did last night go? Any side effects? I heard that some kids go ballistic from Benadry and hype up after taking it.

@Sleeping Through: Allie slept from 930-3am and then again until 9am. WOW. She wouldn't go down last night and kept crying whenever I put her to bed. I played with her and wanted to take her to bed again and she started crying when we went up the stairs. I took her back downstairs thinking that she MIGHT be hungry (she had been nursing all day and the night before). I fed her two servings of squash, mixed with applesauce. It was alot and she LOVED it...her mouth was constantly going open again. After that I put her down and I didn't hear a peep from her again. Poor thing..she must have been starving. Usually she eats dinner with us but yesterday we ate out and I didn't want her to eat ####### food (it's ok for me though :)) so of course she was hungry.

When you express milk, you activate certain hormones that influence a few systems in your body, including the uterus- that's why nursing mothers feel heavier contractions when the uterus goes back to its normal size postpartum. So the more you pump- the more hormones circulate through your body. Nursing mothers can have heavier bleedings than mothers who bottlefeed their infants, but for a shorter duration. Bleeding is normal up to 6- 8 weeks postpartum.

@Eveline: His routine is all messed up since he was sick. He took a nap until 8 pm, then ate dinner, took a bath, read books until 10pm, I gave him Benadryl, and he got drowsy, but did not want to go to sleep. He finally passed out at 11pm and slept until 12:20am. so no improvement there. He woke us up at 7 am after getting up 5 times during the night. I don't know how this kid thrives on so little sleep. I am exhausted. 2 of his upper teeth are coming in, which really bothers him. I am going to get some teething tablets today. I didn't want to give him tylenol or motrin on top of the benadryl. His breathing was a lot better though, even the congestion in his nose was all gone. so after all the Benadryl was a success.

I'm glad Allie slept good, I'm glad she's eating well, that's a sign that she is doing better!

About contractions while breastfeeding. With Adam I didn't really feel them but with Allie..holy cow..it felt like I was in labor all over again. I've heard it is normal for 2nd time moms to feel the contractions even more and boy is it true. I'm glad it stopped after a week or so but that sure wasn't fun.

ETA: Chnst: I'm so sorry Ben's not sleeping good. It is very draining on the parent because you have to be alert all day long and then can't rest at night. I bet you are exhausted. I hope for you that you can get some help every now and then and pretty soon you'll get a whole night sleep.

@ NEssa: I would call just in case. Btw my prenatal had 36mg iron, yet I became anemic. Calcium inhibits iron digestion and so I couldn't use all the iron in the prenatal (it is a 4 per day). They just tested me cause of the bleeding and found the low levels, so I wouldn't exclude it.

@ Evi: Wow Allie. I hope Jona will express interest in solids soon, cause I have a feeling his body is getting ready. We are nursing every 2 hours now, even at night. Now that he crawls he needs more calories I guess. The extreme nursing made me loose so much extra weight at this point. We keep offering, but never force food on him. BTW I was so lucky that he slept 2 hour stretches last night, I couldn't even remember what it feels like to sleep 2 hours in a row!

yeah that is so true. It is even worse with the 3rd child (I hope I don't scare you now, haha). When I worked in maternity I watched how women who just had their second or third baby saved their painkillers just for the first few nursing sessions, because it is a lot more painful with each subsequent child. I didn't feel it much with Ben either.

ugh I can't wait. MIL and FIL were here taking over one night on the weekend. It was the first night in a long time I slept (or not, because I kept waking up out of habit). But it was like someone holding a huge candybar in front of your face but you can only sniff it. I can't wait until it gets better so I can catch up. I swear driving tired is worse than driving drunk, tunnel vision and all. I have to say that I am lucky to have hubby who helps me whenever he can and lets me sleep in in the morning before he goes to work. And Ben is very lucky that he is so cute, I dont know if I could put up with his shenanigans if he wasn't. :P

@Anna: try offering him something sweet (banana puree/apple sauce) from your finger instead of a spoon, maybe he likes that. good luck.
