I care! I don't have babies yet, but I always read the baby thread because I want a baby so much! I hope you guys don't mind that I post on here sometimes!!

But I care! I hope that she feels better soon! (F) I hope she gets better soon and that her appointment goes well! Good luck tonight!!

Ditto, but can't afford to get preggers yet and hubby also wants us to be stable and to have more alone time before starting our family as well.

aaww we went through something similar before we decided to just go for it (well, Justin said we could "stop preventing"...I started charting  )

Now that we are pregnant, things just seem to work out. Babies always bring a financial blessing with them :)

Saludos,

Caro

I had my monthly check up today and baby is doing well so far thank God. I love feeling him move; I love knowing he's alive and well in there lol I'm confused with which month I'm in now...Does the fifth month end on 22nd or 21st week?

Chemaateh- where can I learn baby signing?

Ev- Hope Allie gets well soon. poor little thing she's a cutie :luv:

Staashi- I am so emotional whenever I see any baby cry...I imagine when it's mine I will be bowling lol

allie is still not crawling. She's wanting to but she can't yet. She just falls over and then scoots around backwards on her belly. She is mobile though but she just can't get where she wants to go  .

@Anna: About the comparing. I know you are not supposed to compare but I do it too. I just do it in my head though. Adam was pretty quick with everything, sitting up at 6 months, crawling at 7.5 months, cruising at 9 months. Allie on the other hand just doesn't seem to be so quick with it and first I thought something was wrong with her but I guess she's just taking her time.

I compare between my two kids all the time but its a little harder because my son is so much older and I just dont remember every little thing (its funny, when they are small you cant imagine ever forgetting any of it but sad to say, you do)... anyway, my 2 are so different in every way including developmentally, but I have heard its fairly common for the boys to be a little quicker than the girls as far as physical things, and the girls a little quicker with things like communication. Its been my experience - my son walked a good 3 months younger than Amirah but her talking and verbal skills are way ahead than he was at this age.

anyway, I hope Allie feels better soon. I am with you, if you suspect its going to end up with tubes I would look into it sooner rather than later too.

i found the classes at a community college near where i live. the first one was parents only, the second one you brought your baby to, at around 9 months. you might try looking there. it was under the 'continuing education' section, like along with the craft classes, cooking classes that kind of thing. they aren't for credit or anything.

@ Evi - Hoping Allie feels better. I think it is a good idea to see a specialist. We took Declan back to the doctor yesterday and his ears look fine now. However, I pushed for a referral to an ENT because I know the wait time around here is lengthy. We have an appt. in early July (which is better than what I thought). I didn't want to wait for him to have another infection and then have to be referred.

The doctor said he doesn't think Declan had an allergic reaction to the augmentin, but may have had an "inflammatory response" ... not sure what the difference is exactly. He thinks that if he was tested, he would not show an allergy per se, but thinks we should still avoid amoxycillin or penicillin drugs.

We just started Declan on fluoride. The doctor does not want to prescribe the vitamin plus fluoride drops. He is not a big believer in vitamins for babies as long as they eat a balanced diet. I have done some reading on this topic and I agree with him. So, he prescribed the fluoride only drops a month ago, and our regular pharmacy said ti was on back order and did not know when it would come in. They said the manufacturer had a huge back log. I have been periodically checking and nada. So yesterday, I told that to the doctor and he said it was ridiculous and sent a script to another pharmacy. It was filled right then! I feel like such a bonehead for letting it go a month and just assuming no one could get it.

Hope all the babies are good. Staashi, I think the first shots are the most traumatic for the moms, but it does get a little better, well you just get used to it :)

7 weeks and i just started bleeding again. It never stopped. It went from heavy flow to brownish, then around 3 weeks heavy flow again, then brownish, now 7 weeks and getting heavy again? Can that mean I had a period at 3 weeks and now I'm having another one?

@ NEssa: Just like me. Try to take it easier, it keeps bleeding if you do too much (exhaust yourself). Try to take it easy. But also call your provider. They wanted me to come in and sure enough the stitches had closed the wrong way and it kept bleeding, they had to fix it (wasn't as bad as it sounds). Though you had a c-section so I think it's the wound the placenta left behind and that just keeps bleeding if you do too much. Still, I'd call them. I finally stopped bleeding 8.5 weeks postpartum! While you're at it, have them check your iron levels - I was a little anemic after the ordeal and took iron for about 6 weeks before it stabilized.

@ Evi: Poor Allie. You've been through this with Adam, so I think Allie prolly needs the tubes too. My sister had ear infections galore as a baby and toddler and I don't think they did tubes in the DDR. They removed her sinus polyps though eventually and then it got way better. Apparently if they grow too big, the tend to catch infections which transmit into the ear. While you're at the specialist I'd have them take a look at the polyps too, just in case. Good luck and get well poor Allie!

I was crying horribly when they took blood from Jona for the jaundice (bilirubin) levels. They ####### the foot which he didn't mind, but then they milk the foot and push it really hard and he cried extremely throughout the pocedure. It was horrifying. My sister thought it was weird that they didn't draw the blood from the arm though (she is a MD). It is less a hassle apparently and easier. Next time I will insist! Cause it was horror! Though the lumbar puncture was even worse.... I don't know how shots will compare, when he is 12-18 months we will do a tetanus shot, but that goes in the arm, which is less painful than the leg (I know, I had a Pitocin shot in my leg after delivery to stop the bleeding, OMG I personally thought it hurt more than baby's head emerging!). DH will come along to hold our hands.

@Bilirubin level checks: that pisses me off that they check that capillary in the heel. The last few months that I lived in Germany I worked in maternity units and I had to fight so hard to stop that in that hospital. They are now one of the first "pain free" hospitals in Germany. The "milking" takes so long that in 50% of the cases the blood will clog anyways by the time you have enough for the lab. Second, the hard pushing causes false statements because it breaks some bood particles. The only benefit to that is faster results (if processed by a blood gas analysis) and doesn't have to be done by a doctor. Drawing it from a vein is much less painful and absolutely accurate, especially when the baby has high bilirubin levels. When Ben was born they ran a bilitest too and I tried to insist they draw it from a vein but they said their lab doesn't process that.

@Evi: hey I care too! :) hope Allie feels better soon, I'd push for the tubes too. I think I read somewhere that some children who have experienced frequent ear infections might talk later. Maybe that's why Adam just started to talk. I hope she is better soon!

@autum: I would think that too if the pharmacist tells me that it's on back order.... In case you ever run out or can't get a refill- they sell fluoride fortified nursery water at the grocery store/babies r us. I'm not sure how much fluoride is in there though since it's a prescription requirement in the US. My mom sent me a years supply of fluoride+vitamin D tablets from Germany. They cost almost nothing over there and are prescription free. I disolve them in Ben's drink.

we went back to the doctor today, and they want to run some tests regarding asthma when his virus infection is cleared up. I hope it's not asthma. He is doing a lot better since we have the nebulizer. We are now told to give him benadryl before bed. I am a little nervous about that. Anyone here have used benadryl on a 1-year old? I've only seen the benadryl for 2 or 4 year old kids.

His constipation is still the same. I've been waiting for weeks now for a call back from the GI doctor.

I gave my son benadryl very young also for the same thing - illness induced asthma. I never noticed any bad side effects at all, and in fact he slept better (no surprise there :P)

Adam got Benadryl once for the drug reaction. Actually totally stupid when I think about it now. The reaciton would have cleared up just by itself but we listened to what the doc said and gave him the Benadryl. No side effects but he slept good.

I asked at MDC about the ear ifections and some there siad that the infections might be a result of a milk allergy.
