Declan is finally doing better, thanks everyone for asking :) The bloodwork showed an elevated white count, so he was obviously fighting off something, but the doc was not sure what. He thought that it may have been a reaction to the Augmentin that he had been on for his ear infection and said the dose was too high. That's the one thing I hate about the doctor's practice ... there are 3 there. Declan has a regular pediatrician, but sometimes he has to see another doc if his regular one isn't available ... and they all contradict each other! Argh!!!

He seemed to do better at first once he was off the Augmentin, but then he threw up projectile vomit and was miserable again. He is doing better now and finally playing like his old self. We have a follow up appt. on Monday and I will be able to go this time (hubby had to take him before because I couldn't miss work) .... and I have lots of questions to ask.

glad Declan is doing better. Hearing all this and all the bad experiences I had myself makes me contemplate getting my own medical degree. How are you supposed to trust a doctor with your child when they miscalculate dosages and contradict each other...

@Autumn: Glad to see that Declan is doing better. Poor little man. Sick Babies are not fun to have around.

@Chnst: I love your new pics. I looked through your album on FB yesterday and I must say...Ben looks like your husband  .

We're outside in the backyard. Adam is blowing bubbles, Allie is blowing raspberries and pulling Marty's tail (Marty is our black lab). We have German children's music (Rolf Zuckowsky [sp??]) playing and it is just wonderful out here :luv: . Eric is at work (where else) and so I have to make the best out of our daddy free weeks.

it's gonna be almost 90 degrees here. if i go to the mall with ben on his stroller wearing just a short sleeveless onesie will he be ok? i still debate what to dress him when we're outside. i don't want him to be cold or hot.

@Nessa: A onesie and a thin blanket will be completely ok I think. It's 80 degrees here right now and Allie is sitting in her highchair next to me in a diaper and a t-shirt (she's in the shade too).

I'd tuck him in a blanket if you feel like it's getting too cold. When you are cold, baby is most likely freezing too. I also always (in the winter) have an extra Sweater and pair of longies in the car, just in case it is colder than expected.

@Evi: thanks. He only has my eyes, the rest is 100% Chuck. His feet and eyebrows look like a smaller version of hubbys ... sounds like you're having a good day! It's actually really nice here too finally. We may try out the pool for the first time today.

@Nessa: absolutely agree with Evi, a small onesie, maybe socks when you're in the mall where it's airconditioned. I remember I wanted to bundle him up when he was so small and tiny, hat, socks, blankets, pants and all. Rule of thumb is to dress him as much/as little as you dress yourself. I like to layer Ben's clothes. If it's too warm you can always take layers off. In the summer he usually only wears a t-shirt and a diaper or a short-sleeve onesie. Bringing a light blanket everywhere you go is always a good idea because you can wrap it around yourself if you have to nurse him or it can come in handy as a burp cloth.

I have no idea how he did it. I know he sat on the couch next to me last night around 9. I guess I left the couch with the laptop laying on it and he typed a little and hit "Enter"

Allie is finally getting up on all fours and now doing the 'bunny hop' by pulling her legs to her arms...so cute but she doesn't get very far with it :)
