@Vi: don't worry, a lot of doctors recommend it, some don't. The most important is the vitamin D in the Tri-Vi-Sol. She doesn't necessarily need iron until 6 months but it doesn't hurt her either. If you don't like the iron smell or if she doesn't digest it well, get the vitamin D drops (Carlson) They have them at Wholefoods. I think the other ####### in tri-vi-sol is rubbish if you eat healthy and once you start solids, she will get all the vitamins she needs through the food she eats.

If you feed formula, she will get enough iron, Vit. D and fluoride with the formula. I give Ben Vit D and fluride, because we have well water and it's not fortified with fluoride.

ETA: I just remembered that she is a premature baby, maybe that's why. Most premies in the NICU where I worked required a higher dose of Vit.D (1000 units/day instead of 400) and some needed iron supplements. If in doubt, ask your pediatrician. I doesn't hurt to give it to her if she digests it well.

I wouldn't use Trivasol. It has artificial flavors and so on. If you want a vitamin D supplement, go with Carlsons Vitamin D drops. Nothing but vitamin D and completely odor- and tasteless. Just put one drop daily on your nipple before breastfeeding. Our ped told us to use it daily in winter starting at 4 months, but honestly, I used it maybe 5 times? Jona gets plenty of sun, which eliminates the need for vitamin D drops.

I don't do Tylenol, Motrin is better. Tylenol manufacturers will soon come out with new dosages as it is pretty overdosed currently. I get horrible liver enzyme blood work from it, it really is strong, strong stuff. Never administer it without counseling with a on call nurse or ped (our ped said so and I completely agree)!

Thank you for all your advices girls

We will continue giving her the vitamin, my SIL gave her three kids the same one ad It didn't hurt plus we think that he enjoys it, she makes fynnu faces when we give it to her.

Girl, my mom is leaving me in less than a month and I'm a little concern about it, she have been here for three months and she is a Pro with the baby, not that I'm not involved in my baby's life but I ask her everything, maybe I'm depending too much on her and now that she will go back to Peru I'm a little afraid. Since she is here I 've been able to take naps, run errands, go to the gym,etc etc. What am I suppoused to do the whole day with the baby??? Sorry If I sound stupid.

How many of you stopped working when you had your babies? how do you feel about it?? OMG, OMG, OMG I'm nervous..............

@Vi: I didn't mean to scare you. I remember giving the Tri vi sol with iron to Adam when his bloodwork came back with the result that he was slightly anemic at 12 months. I couldn't tolerate the smell of that stuff...it was disgusting. Moderate morning sickness didn't help. I still can't smell butternut squash because I used to mix the trivisol in the squash before I fed it to him...the smell disgusts me now. I regulated his iron levels with food higher in iron but of course you can't do that with Sofia. Chnst is right, I keep forgetting that she was a preemie, maybe that's why you should give it to her. After all...she gets VitD through the breastmilk as long as you eat right, also a daily dose of sunlight (even on overcast days) helps her body make VitD. I make sure the kids are outside at least 20 min a day.

Sorry again..I didn't mean to scare you.

As for Tylenol/Motrin etc. I have found some suppositories at Walmart for Babies as young as 3 months. I give those to Allie whenever she comes down with a fever. So far I have only used three (two for Adam, one for Allie) but they work great.

@Vi: are you not taking prenatal vitamins anymore? about the stuffy nose, do you have an humidifier? Ben has a stuffy nose as well, but it's not that bad. About your mom leaving, i was told that once we become a mom, we'll know what to do. I was really scared at first, because i was the one that would have to figure out how to take care of the baby, both charles and i are clueless. You'll be fine, not only because you already had a lot of help from your mom, but because you have a support group here. I've learned everything by asking the doctor, reading books and asking people online, on here and on babycenter. Without the internet i'd probably be calling my mom everyday lol.

@chrissy: that's great she's growing great. are u bfing?

@Vi: I know so many mom's who didn't think they would want to stay at home, but when it was time to return to work they freaked out. I know it's scary but I am sure you will figure it out with hubby's help. Is Sofias daycare close to your work? Can you maybe do part-time for a few weeks to adjust? I consider myself lucky to be able to stay at home with Ben, it has drawbacks too. I miss my social life and being around adults. :P

@autum: how is Declan doing? Hope he is better.

@Kelly: hey when are you going to show us a video of Zaid walking? I can't believe it, he is soo big, and so far ahead of Ben in that department.

Nessa@ I still taking the prenatal vitamins, and yes we do have a humidifier, I guess is time to start using it.

Chnst@ My sister in law offered us to take care of the baby for free, she is great with kids and has three kids the only problem is that they keep getting sick all the time and I really mean ALL THE TIME so we don't want that for our little one. Plus everybody keeps telling me that I shouldn't miss my baby's first year (I feel a little guilty about it).I know that I'm the only one who will make the final decision and I have until September to think about it but is so hard. Hubby is a different story, I don't get so much help from his side :angry: so in one hand have my mom who super spoiled me and on the other hand I have almost none help.
