Staashi@ Girl, cheer up! I grew up with formula and I'm completely fine, no allergies, no asthma, perfect!. I'm breasfeeding and using formula too, my husband wanted me to breastfeed 100% but after a few weeks he realized that is imposible. Good luck and don't feel bad.

Last night I slept just 45 minutes, OMG, I'm so tired. Today I went to my first chek up after the delivery,I was surprised the doc didn't check down there, she told me that I can go back to the gym and star spending more time with hubby (you know what I mean).

@Nessa: completely agree with keltic. zinc works wonders. and also try to "air" his bottom out whenever you can. more frequent diaper changes esp. when you cloth diaper and if it doesn't get any better try disposables (sensitive) until it gets better. oh, and try to avoid using powder if you're using it because his skin can't breath underneath it and it takes longer to heal.

@nikita: Buy whenever you want to. I bought the first clothes when I was around six or seven months. Most of his clothes were given to us, but the coming home outfit and some other cute things I liked I bought. Just try to buy clothes that will be appropriate for the season when he/she will be born. Right now there are so many summer clothes, but if your baby will be born in the winter you want long-sleeves. The first 10 months I used onesies+pants, because I find little shirts unpractical. They ride up on a little baby. Now that he is so big he starts wearing 2 pieces.

ok got to wrap some gifts for the birthday boy. I can't believe he is a year old already... :star:

Ladies, I thank you all so much for your support - it means a lot and it helps a lot, too. It has been a bummer, but I'm actually thinking about writing a story about this whole experience. Everyone talks about the positive side of breastfeeding, but you hardly ever hear the horror stories about how things don't work out. My husband and family are totally behind me on this as they have seen how hard it has been since the beginning. I will say that at the end of the day, not being able to breastfeed doesn't make you any less of a mother or a woman - it is just the way things are.

Much love to you all!

@ Caro: mine moved a lot n he's a nice quiet baby when hes not hungry.

@staashi: i agree it doesn't make u less of a mother. not everybody can bf and formula nowadays are made to substitute our milk n it's almost as good as our milk. being bf, although is the natural to go and it has only benefits, don't guarantee the child will be any healthier than formula fed babies. like laura gave an example, she was extremely healthy, etc, i was breastfed n had a lot of allergies, bronchitis, rhinitis, asthma etc when i was a kid.

Nessa, hipoglós is an ointment that contains zinc, for instance, I am sure you can find in any drugstore similar ones.

Examples:

- Johnson's Diaper Rash Cream with Zinc Oxide 3 oz (85 g)

- A&d medicated diaper rash cream with zinc oxide/aloe, 4 oz

- Desitin Diaper Rash Creamy Ointment with Aloe & Vitamin E, Fresh Scent - 2 Oz

- Balmex Diaper Rash Cream with Aloe & Vitamin E, 4 oz

All of these contain zinc, Nessa, and are all similar in formula do our very well known hipoglós. In case you go out looking for other creams the ingredients for hipoglós are: retinol (vitamin A); Colecalciferol (vitamin D) and zinc.

It's actually saying not to use talcum powder 'cus it can cause more friction and irritate the baby skin more. Try and leave him without his diaper as long as possible so his skin can breath. Change the diaper often. Try using only water when cleaning bathing him, and not soap on his bottom.

Also, if his skin has a severe rash you might wanna look into using some cream with clotrimazole, econazole, etoconazole or miconazole, to treat any fungus/bacteria that might already be affecting the area.

@ Chrissy - When I move (and trust me, I've moved a lot!!!) ... I pick a room at a time and pack the items in that. It makes it more manageable for me. I start with rooms that have less stuff I would actually need (like the guest bedroom, etc.). I try to leave essential items for last. Good luck! I can't imagine being pregnant and moving!!!

Happy birthday Ben!!!
