today is my baby's 2 week appointment. i can't believe he's 2 weeks already. time flies. soon he'll be graduating from MIT.

would you prefer him going to west point if he had, for example, a scholarship for MIT?

i was doing the math on diapering. The total cost a year for cloth diapering would be around $370, while disposable would be around $1250. We would save $880. But since I'll have to do half half, because they can't have cloth at daycare, so it'll be something around $810/year, still, we'll be saving $440. Not bad eh? Plus we're helping the environment we should get a tax deduction for that.

ugh Nessa, don't even remind me. I'd almost say we spent more on diapers and wipes. Add to that the cost for babyfood and equipment and we could have easily bought a mercedes suv.

@autum: Ben does that too! Kelly is right, it goes in stages, he stopped doing that for a while and has just started doing it again. If it is just pee (most times) I just let him crawl around naked for a while and give him a break. distraction only works sometimes. I give him his diaper cream or let him play with a wipe. He also does that when I try to dress him.

@Kelly: awww enjoy the cuddly stage. Ben is always hanging on my leg or hugging me so hard that his fingernails dig in my skin. haha. The easter bunny got him a swing too! He loves it! He is still a little scared of the slide. I have to hold him when he goes down, which feels great on my back.

I've fallen behind on the posts, and it will take me a while to catch up, but I've enjoyed reading what I've skimmed through. Nessa, I'm especially interested in how the cloth diapers are working out for you so far. I have 24 washed and ready, and I've been practicing folding them, but my sister still thinks I'm nuts. I'll probably be using them half the time also once I go back to work. How many do you have now, and how often do you wash diapers?

@Caybee: Check out youtube for different folding styles. I used to twist Allie's diapers in the middle because it was too big on her in the beginning (like here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23Q5hOAYryQ) . Now I do the 'newspaper' fold on both kids (

), they both fit the same diapers (I'm using prefolds). Also I have some fitted diapers that I made myself. THey are trimmer on the body but they seem to shrink. I have to figure out something new there. I think I have about 60 diapers (flat, prefold, All in ONes and fitteds) and around 20 covers (for both kids though). For one, if you want do to it only when you are home, you should be fine with about 25 -30 diapers and 5 or so good covers (Thirsties are supposedly really good or dappi vinyl covers, they are cheap too but not very cute). I wash every 3 days and have around 20 diapers to wash then.

About ointment and powder. I'm not using any as long as they don't have a rash. Sometimes I don't even wipe butts when the diaper was only wet. Urine is sterile and if I don't have a wipe on hand, I just slap on another diaper.

back from the pediat. Ben is doing amazing. In 4 days he went from 19 to 21 inches, and he gained 7 oz. Since they're supposed to gain between 0.5-1oz a day, he gained an average of 1.75 during the last 4 days.

OMG...Hana has such a fascination with the ceiling fan. She will stare at it, laugh, and coo. I keep telling her to let mama know when it starts talking to her because mama will get her some help.

Hana is also being sooooooooooooo talkative today -- nonstop cooing for more than 2 hours right now! Zak is sleeping a lot. So...he must be going through another growth spurt.
