Caro - get that Archangel image up there - when we have a statue of him, I put a little glass of water for his horse. :P

Nessa - Enzo hasn't had a diaper rash yet, but we use cornstarch on him with every diaper change. It is wonderful - keeps him dry and fresh. :)

Nessa, you need hipoglós. It sucks to get it out of the fingers but all these years I swear by that stuff for all my rashes, mosquito bites, etc. It's what my mom used on us as well.

Staashi's cornstarch idea is great too, plus it's cheaper than baby powder and doesn't have any scent.

I think cornstarch is perfectly safe. Last I heard baby powder and hypoglos were still a must and still worked just fine. There's a new paste different than hypoglos that my best friend used, it was pink, can;t remember the name now but either way butt paste and powder seem fine by my book.

Word! :P

But, faced with Hypoglos absence, a friend of mine swears by Dr Smith's diaper ointment, and already threatened she will not let me use anything else :)

I'm not a big fan of the powder because they told us in nursing school it doesn't let the skin breath and some parents shake the bottle so hard, the tiny particles get into babys' lungs, which can cause asthma and other respiratory diseases. Some of my friends swear by it, but I just don't see why putting anything on a perfect baby butt. If there's a rash I agree with tnh, I love Burts Bees diaper cream, it smells really good. I haven't dealt with diaper rash yet, but anything containing zinc is good for irritated skin.

@Caro: oooh what a cute belly! Is that the 19 week shot?? I looked like that like 3 minutes after I took the pregnancy test.

zaid had one slight slight rash at about 10 months old and we used burts bees and it was gone in a day. We do not use anything daily, i just make sure his diaper is changed often and he is bathed everyday and so far so good. no rashes.

zaids swingset went up today and he is in love with the slide, its about 12 feet long but he lays on his back and goes down lol. The tree fort and all the other features will probably be beter next summer when he is a bit bigger but im just excited to have the baby swing on it, he loves to swing.

zaid is going thru this cuddle stage. I dont think he has fallen asleep in one of our arms since he was 4 months old, he did not like the idea of rocking or cuddling so we kinda got use to it. well, much to my surprise i now have a cuddler, and i am EATING it up..

Aww Kelly, that is awesome! Enjoy the cuddles :) Declan has become extra huggy and kissy lately too and I adore it!!!

@ Caro - Awww, such a cute preggo belly :)

Okay, ladies, need advice again. Declan is such an active little boy, which is wonderful, except for when I need to change his diaper. He absolutely hates lying on his back and squirms and rolls around and crawls away, unless I hold him firmly and then he screams and cries. I have tried distracting him with toys or making funny faces. That worked initially, but now, it seems like all he wants to do is be on the go and staying still for a diaper change is not in his game plan. I don't mind so much when it is just a pee diaper. I've figured out how to chase him and diaper him at the same time. It is the poop ones that are the trouble. HELP!!!

I know, Enzo will be one month this Friday - OMG!!!

Caro - que panzita!!!!

Cornstarch is perfectly safe for a baby - it is Talc which is in baby powder that is not. I love cornstarch as it leaves Enzo's skin so soft and dry - especially his little sac. :P As I hated to see it all red and such.

Off Topic - Hipoglos is unreal. 3 years ago my husband was closing the car window and didn't realize that my hand was holding onto the door/window area. When he closed the window it took off my pinky nail - the pain was unreal. We had a 3 hour drive home from Jacksonville to Tallahassee and I could only put some cold compresses on it. When we got home, our neighbor from Argentina gave us a bottle of hipoglos powder and Gustavo sprinkled it on my pinky. I think he only did it once or twice. Five days later the pinky (sans nail, of course) was completely healed - 3 months later I had my nail back.
