My son is a toe sucker...I don't know which is worse, toe sucker or finger sucker. Even when I'm feeding him, he takes a bite then proceeds to put his feet in his mouth.

@Carolyn: dead ladybug? haha! sounds like something Ben would put in his mouth!

Target has cute (and cheap!) new diapers--anyone try them yet? I appreciate that they don't have goofy looking cartoon characters plastered on them (they have tasteful blue and green big dots). Ilyas has been having lots of diaper blow-outs lately with his size 2 Huggies, so I'm hoping that these do the trick!

Berber Mama,

Must be something about those Moroccan babies...my son is a toe sucker, too! And he crawls, so his toes aren't always so clean. Oh well, I guess it will build immunity (kinda like that dead ladybug I found in his mouth yesterday--yikes!).

That's too funny. I asked my MIL if hubby was a toe sucker, she said no. He crawls too, so I have to wash his feet and hands several times a day. I also have to wash his feet before I feed him.

I am hesitant with the store brand diapers. They never seem to hold up and he always pees out of the top of them. I have been resorting to buying Pampers and paying extra. Maybe I will give the Target brand a try.

@Berber Mama: Have you tried to point his 'tee-tee' downward. Maybe it is pointing up and so he pees out of the diaper since it doesn't have as much padding at the front as it does toward the back. In some diapers I have to point Adam's parts down because the same thing happened.

I had a normal delivery, 1 nights stay and epidural. The hospital billed the insurance company $6k for me, $1500 for Henry, $3k for OB. What we owe is just $400 to the hospital, we already prepaid the OB. My girlfriend who delivered 13 days before me they have to pay $3k to meet their annual out-of-pocket *cringe* I am counting our blessings.

As for diapers with a boy make sure you point his pee-pe down, the ruffles are out and the diaper is on tight enough around the waist. We've not had any issues with Pampers Swaddlers or Huggies Gentle Care. We're using the Huggies Snug and Dry right now, we still have a stockpile of diapers from my diaper shower. We're good untill we get into size 4's!

The only store brand ive tried is walmarts white cloud brand, which someone recommended, and i thought they were terrible. stiff and didnt hold much pee. We stick to huggies. Just the regular white pack. The supremes always leaked on me. So far we have had pretty good luck.

Hmmm, I had never thought about that. I just always thought that it was the cheap diapers because I don't remember him ever peeing out of Huggies or Pampers. I will try that though. Thanks!

I hate White Cloud and I hate Parents Choice. I would rather pay more money than have to use more diapers, which is what you end up doing with the cheap brands. I used Luv's when he was first born and they were okay. That is as low as I will go in the Diaper marks until I can find a store brand that will hold up. I'm up for trying the Target brand though.

i didn't know that. that's why he keeps peeing on the top of the diaper, it's always wet around his waist. It's cloth diaper, so it's way more messy n the entire thing gets wet.

How do i know when he has a rash? the skin around his butt is a bit redish lately. i applied butt paste, just in case.

I'm not sure that my son has big enough "parts" to point it downward (sometimes it even looks like an "innie")!

Nessa--my son has never had a diaper rash (thank goodness), just a little red on the bottom at times. I've found that 1-2 applications of Boudreaux's butt paste does the trick. I think I have only used the paste about 5 times. I bet it's because most disposable diapers keep babies pretty dry. I imagine that you might have more irritation with cloth diapers (though cloth is probably much healthier).

About the Target diapers: so far so good! They are nice and soft and don't stink like some of the others. Plus, no blowouts with his typical morning dirty diaper. Too bad I've still got about 50 Huggies left...maybe I'll pass them on to my sister who is about to have a baby next week!

Is it me or is WALMART taking the White Cloud Diapers out of their sortiment? I always buy those and we never had any problems with it. I use them as overnight diapers and we hardly ever have leaks.

I hate the A& D ointment. I like something with zinc oxide. I know when I was going through wound care it is what helped me with my irritated skin from the drainage. It instantly relieved the irritation. So, I can only imagine how much better it makes their bottom feel. I usually just slather it on the two of them before bedtime (since overnight is the longest time they stay in any one diaper). Hana has sensitive skin and it really helps. I personally like Burt's Bees Diaper Creme. It is thick and smells wonderful.
