Thanks all! :)

Stina - Love the pics and vids of Kavi ... he is such a cutie.

Declan went back today for his post-surgery follow-up. The doc said he is doing fine, he just wants to see him again in 6 months. Apparently, Declan still has a little "dimple" or "bridge" at the urethra opening, although the doc said it should cause no problems. He also told me the hypospadias and chordee was pretty severe ... which I don't think I fully realized before the surgery. I'm glad it is all done with .... hopefully, no more surgeries for Declan ... 2 in a 6 month time period is enough!

Question about the cakes ... when are babies allowed to eat eggs? I can't remember what I read about avoiding eggs until a certain age.

Thanks :)

Kavi has another surgery follow up appt on Thursday. Yes, Declan has gone through a lot already! :( Hoping it all turns out perfectly, I am sure it will.

Stina - happy birthday to Kavi!!! PS - what part of Florida do you all live in? We're in Tallahassee.

:)

We are near Tampa, an hour north near the west coast. (Spring Hill)

Good luck at your appt Nessa!

Anna...I don't know of any recipes but I know there are probably a lot online. Kavi probably ate one teaspoon worth of cake/frosting since he wasn't into it. I was a little worried ahead of time about all that sugary stuff and if he'd get really hyper, but he hardly had any.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Hm I didn't listen to it, but I'm sure the CDC isn't happy about co-sleeping. :eyesroll: If you practice safe co-sleeping it is fine (see instructions in Dr. Sears' Baby Book). I know so many people who co-sleep and they are just fine.

Like I said, Jona sleeps mostly in his crib, but I do feed him in bed. It would be too much of a nuisance to go to another place. I fall asleep, he does in my arms, and that's fine. I can sleep that way, no big deal. When I wake up again (i like fall asleep for a couple minutes) I usually move him into his crib. When he was younger he spent entire nights in my arms, he wouldn't sleep anywhere else. Poor thing had so much painful gas back then.

@ Stina: Cute pics!

Do you have good recipes for those smash cakes? I'd like to avoid sugar and all the bad stuff in there. I know you can sweaten with stevia and apple sauce instead. Any ideas or links?

Morning, all!

The audio was positive overall, especially about the bassinets that attach to the side of the bed. I've seen a portable one somewhere, and we'll probably go with something like that. I like the idea of just being able to reach over and touch the baby at any time, but our bed is too small for the baby to be in the bed itself with us. Might try it during nap time when hubby isn't home.

Nessa, hope your appointment goes well today.

Glad to hear Declan is doing better.

Round ligament pain -- can someone describe their experience? From time to time, when I roll over, change positions, or sometimes even cough, it feels like a muscle "catches," usually on the right side but sometimes on the left, near where the pelvic bones stick out on the front of the abdomen. First time it happened, I thought it might be a hernia or something -- definitely feels like a muscle pulling or catching -- and I always thought round ligament pain was lower, but I've seen descriptions on line that seem to fit. I'll ask at my next appointment, but just wondered about others' experiences.

I'm the USC.

Caybee - About the bassinet co-sleeper .... if there is any way possible, I would suggest trying to borrow one first before you spend money on it. We were lucky to have a friend loan me one. I thought it would be a perfect idea .... loved the idea of having the baby next to me, but not in the same bed. However, in reality, for me, the cosleeper was too bulky and it made it very difficult for me to get in and out of bed in the middle of the night. We ended up scrapping it and just having the baby sleep in his pack 'n play. Other people love the co-sleepers though, so maybe it will work for you!

Quick question for the mommie with kids. When did your baby sit uo by themselves and start to crawl. Mine's 6 months old today and I got a monthly news letter form a parenting site that said the baby should be starting to crawl and sit up by herself. She's not at either of those mildstones. When did your baby sit up by them selves unassissted and crawl? I'm wondering if I should be worried. Probably not, but this is the 3rd news letter I got about mild stones that mine has yet to do.

Babies don't work by the book so I wouldn't necessarily listen to that. Allie didn't roll over until last week, some kids do that by 3 months. Adam still doesn't talk much, some talk at 12 months etc etc.

Your baby is ready, whenever it is ready. I doubt that Allie will sit by six months and there's not hurry. Some kids don't sit up unassisted until 8 months, some never crawl.

Anyway, Adam sat up at around 6 months and he started crawling by 8 months and cruising around a week after crawling. He walked by 12 months.

exactly - the books are just very very general guides. for example , my son walked at 10 months and my daughter at 14. My son only crawled for like a week or 2 before he was up and about but my daughter crawled for months and months before she bothered to work on the walking...

I do have a little trick I learned from my mom for the sitting up though, line a laundry basket with a nice blanket and put a couple of toys in it then put baby in with her back against the side of the basket, its a perfect size to keep her propped up and my kids held on to the little holes in the sides too. also a walker or bouncer is a good way to help them strengthen those core muscles and still have a lot of support. but dont worry, once they get crawling and walking you will find yourself missing the days when they were still stationary :)
