sorry lol :P i can't even use preggo brain as an excuse anymore. can i blame the pain meds?

so i asked for them to take the baby for a while so i could nap for a couple hours and now he's back and there's a pacifier in his crib :ranting:

I would be just as upset as you...pacifiers are a BIG NO NO as far as I am concerned. I don't know for sure why it is upsetting for you, but for me, it is just wrong to "plug" a child/baby to keep him/her quiet...not to mention the very likely hood of the baby having buck teeth and stomach gas because of the pacifiers...

That's frustrating Nessa about the pacifier. Talk to them again and remind them of your wishes. After all, it is YOUR baby, not the nurses!

I said this in the other post ... but seriously, Ben is one of the cutest newborns ever!!! I can't wait to see more pics.

Congrats on the breastfeeding. Have you bought a pump for home too? The hospital pumps are the best, but the Medela double electric pump is just about as awesome.

i told the nurse, i dont want him getting a pacifier this early, in the future yes.

i bought a medela pump dual, expensive, but working full time it's wworth the money. the hospital ones for rent would wind up being too expensive in a long run (i intend to bf at least 1 year if everything works out the way i hope) i hope i can pump enough milk for him, i dont want to have to buy him formula, but if i do, oh well.

Nessa, I would be upset too about the paci. I was dead set on the 'no paci' rule with Adam but his need to suck was so strong that I asked for one the day after he was born. We never had any nipple confusion and he looooved his paci, still does two years later. He wasn't a comfort nurser and I don't think of it as to 'plug up' your child. As long as baby tolerates it there's probably nothing wrong with it. Allie on the other hand never took a paci. We tried but she kept spitting it out. She also is no comfort nurser but she prefers her thumb instead of a paci. Whatever works.

Congratulations on the diaper change..sounds adventurous

i've been sleeping less than 4 hours total a day. they say enjoy now that u're in the hospital, but everything here sucks, the pain, the sleep position, the lights, the noise, the fact that even if he goes to the nursery so i can sleep, he'll be back in less than 3 hours, so that'll give me 2 hours tops to actually sleep. and i'm kind of paranoid with letting him out of my sight, i want him here all the time.

Henry sucks REALLY hard, especially on my one breast *cringe* we only let him have a paci at night to help get him back to sleep better after a mid-night feed. As for the crying, yes they do at diaper changes, get a wipe warmer and make the diaper change as fast as you can. When Henry gets upset at a diaper change he pees! DH changed his diaper the first week we were home and got peed on THREE times!

My hospital too gave zaid a paci without asking me first, I was not against it so it was never an issue but they did just take it upon themselves, I asked them to give him one coated in sugar water for his circumcision which they did. Sometimes during the first 3 months ALL I WANTED was for zaid to take a paci bc he was such a crabby baby but he hated it. If it wasnt food he didnt want it. Its funny bc he found one of his old pacis the other day and had no idea what it was, so he started to chew on it!! lol.

I also couldn't wait to get home from the hospital. I hated the bed, the IV machine(Had it a long time b/c of getting antibiotics after the c/s!!), and hardly slept at all while at the hospital those couple days. I was only there 2 nights though, but 3 full days. Sujeet did a lot of stuff for me while in the hospital and when we got home he had to do a lot too, as well as other family members. So I knew I'd still have help if I went home to where I was comfortable. The thing about letting them pamper you at the hospital didn't really work for me either hehe, I just wanted to go home. But Kavi was with us almost always in the room unless they took him for a test. I didn't change a diaper until we were at home though, after a day or so hehe, it hurt to bend a little like that for me to reach to change it. I also didn't take a shower until home too, I just did not have the energy for it while in the hospital. Just make sure when you get home Charles helps a lot.

I called Sujeet "Superman" for a long time following Kavi's birth because without him doing a bunch of things to help I don't know what I would have done.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)
