I-751 and divorce...

I filed my I-751 in July 08, I went to the biometrics appointment and got that out of the way.

The thing is....

My husband and myself have been going through a really rough time. We are very close to splitting up. The thing is, I do not want to go back to England! What do I do? Do I need to file anything if I get divorced? Can I continue on my own without a sponsor? What happens if I move out of state? I am still waiting for my 10 year green card, I have not heard anything since my biometrics appointment and I had to go and get an extension on my expired greencard as it is.

Depending on if you plan on seeking a divorce prior to the approval you may need to file an amended I-751 to waive the requirement for 'joint' relationship status. I would make an Infopass appointment at your local office (if it isnt too far away) and speak to an immigration officer about your situation. You may need to do nothing. Hope things work out for the best.

We have sort of come to the agreement that we will try and work things out between us until the greencard arrives. If, when it gets here, we are still at each others throats and wishing impending doom on each other, we will go our separate ways. So basically, nothing will happen until I have the greencard, but I need to know what happens once I have the greencard....if we divorce, do I have to file anything?

Once you have the greencard?? nothing will happen but i believe if you move out you have to file AR-11 or if the OP moves out, he needs to file the I-865 for change of address.. you can remain a GC holder for as long as you want or you can file n400 when you wanted to but this time it'll be for the 5yrs eligibility not the 3-3-3 rule.
