But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Beating a pillow works wonders - you have to really get into it tho and yes its very embarrassing at first cos u feel like a lemon but its very cathartic.

Excercise and mediatation (even if its deep breathing) they work REALLY well.

Stay off everything thats a stimulant like caffeine (tea coffee soda) - try herbal teas like camomile if you can stomach them ( I couldn't but I have weird tastebuds, lol) If you can get it, oil of lavender is GREAT put on the comforter at night (NOT directly on your skin or close to it) and also in the bath - its very calming.

There's lots of great suggestions in these posts, many of which I have used myself. :) I also find picking a room in the house and thoroughly cleaning it helps a lot. Or going to lie down with one of those relaxing classical music-with-nature sounds CD (my personal favourite is one with ocean sounds).

for me, when I could feel a panic attack coming on, I have to remove myself physically from the situation to go and calm down. if that isn't possible, I try to calm down with some deep breathing.

hugs to you girly, and please take care of yourself. :)

The single thing that has made the most difference to me is learning how to meditate and watch my mind at play with all of the stories I tell myself and needless worry. It can actually be amusing at times.

This is a very good thing to do... meditation!

If getting drunk or stoned regularly is out of the question :innocent: then I would take long walks. The crisp cold air will clear your head, get you away from your MIL and probably give you a chance to get the creativity flowing.

Long hot baths are great too. Exercise.

And if all that fails, as my HS girlfriend advised me all those years ago, try soap operas and chocolate.

Lotsa hugs!

Oh, honey. I missed this one.

As has been said, you are only one person with two hands. You can't do everything at once. As much as Ben needs you, he has to realise that you're under a lot of stress right now and help you deal with some of it. He's a USC, he must have filed his taxes before. He can help you a lot there. Also, leave work at work. It is hard, particularly with a new job, but there's only so much you can do and they're not paying you to worry on your own time. Rather than worry about art you have to get done, take some time to do it for you. Paint out that frustration, girlie! The driving will come, and that's not something you can do on your own. You're reliant on other people for a vehicle right now, so all you can do is go with the flow on that one.

One thing that really helps me is time-blocking. I make up an hour-by-hour calender and block in the big stuff first, then the little stuff and also make sure I block some time to do what I want to do - be that spend time with Chris, read my book, get an early night.... And then I make everyone aware of it. By doing that, no one can accuse you of not doing the things which need to be done, but you don't have to worry about them in your down-time because you know that they are scheduled and will be finished when they need to be.

Good luck sweetheart, you have my number.

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

I've used tons of anti-stress techniques, most of them listed on this thread. It all depends on what works for you. Even just sitting here talking about your stress might do the trick!

I have a neighbor who's a born again Christian, and she's always getting herself into jams & stuff. But when I talk to her, she always says 'I am too blessed to be stressed' and things always have a way of working out for her. I've adopted this technique from her, and what it's done is forced me to focus on the big picture & focus on the positives instead of the negatives.

What you focus on, expands. I truly believe that.

And I did try this technique when a month ago I lost a whale of a deal that was going to bring me about $11,000! And it all just crumbled within a few hours, after at least a month of work. I kept repeating that 'I am too blessed to be stressed' mantra, and before long, I was smiling, and thanking God for all the blessings in my life. I was still upset, but ya know what? sh!t happens, and there aint nothin that worrying would do to change that. So ya just gotta get on with it, ya know?

Hope that helps! Good luck!

I go to the mountains, sit by the river and just listen to it. The sound of water, be it a river or ocean has got to be one of the most calming sounds imaginable.

Hang in there.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Do you have an MP3 player??

So far the only thing that has successfully made me literally forget for moments at a time about the whole stress visa process is listening to Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew. They are really funny and insightful. I have lots of MP3s to share of them and their nightly guests talking about everything under the stars.
