In my opinion, I think you better call the USCIS to verify before you send anything to them . Sometimes it takes longer for USCIS in giving out receipt notice to applicants but normally it takes a week to get the NOA1... and you should call your lawyer again about it. Try to look online also if the lawyer you hire who is member of an association. There are scammers. Beware. Good luck!

If you are going thru a lawyer chances are You won't get the NOA, the lawyer will. Keep bugging the lawyer until he coughs it up. And then fire it. In writing. You don't need a lawyer unless your foreign spouse has a criminal record of some sort, and even then, people have done it without a lawyer.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!
