As for the Bush stimulus - the economy spurred solely by that act? The economy wasn't spurred period.

One encouraging thing is that instead of saying bite me & pass the damn package (like Bush did) Obama is saying to Republicans that he's receptive to their ideas.

Recheck your history. The GOP only controlled both houses in Congress from 2003-2007. Bush couldn't ram through budgets without bipartisan support in the outlying years.

Missing the point, again. The economy not only wasn't boosted by the stimulus package, the economy has been in decline for the past 3 quarters with no imminent signs of sustained recovery. So my question again is, which markets have you been watching? The one's I have been watching are all bears

Madame. The stimulus was that last year about this time when we all got 600 dollars. It didn't seem to boost the economy at all but the price of fuel did go sky high and maybe it helped pay for a few tankfuls.

I guess for at least the next four years, anytime someone disagrees with a move by Obama, it's really because the complaining person has it in for Obama... rather than just disagrees with a lot of his ideas.

In reality its both reasons (disagreeing & being petty). The Republicans and Democrats don't have to like or agree with each other, but unfortunately there are a lot of Republicans (the Rush Limbaugh wannabes) that (in a heartbeat) would chose Obama failing over the nation succeeding.

It did help with that. Unfortunatley it's intended effect was for it to be spent somwhere on consumer good, but the cost of fuel and the economy began tanking at that time. People spent it on necessities or put it away for another day.

These reduced government spending ideas that come from the Right, while merited, will never work, because they could never make it happen. Republican bureaucrats love their big government too much to downsize their defense spending, corporation cuddling subsidsies, and omnipotent governmental agencies.

Reagan, a miserable example of a free-market capitalist, is case-in-point.

The quickest way out of a depression is done through the absense of government. It's quite simple. Government cannot create wealth, they can only depredate on the wealth already created.
