hi

i am a uk citizen and my wife (us citizen) filed the I-130 in september last year, two days ago i recieved a confirmation email, that says it has been approved.

what is the next step we need to take? do we just wait for a medical / interview letter?, or do we need to send more forms?

i thought we just needed to do the I-130 but i have a feeling we made a mistake and that we need to do another form

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

:)

Hi Demilemon!

Wellcome do VJ!!

If you filled the I130 and had it approved, you should follow the CR1 steps.

And don't forget to celebrate. A lot of people here are waiting for this moment for a long time.

It's true, You're going to have some work now.

The best thing is read the guides of the CR1 visa available here .

Click on guides...up there and good luck!

Which Service Center? california, right?

Yes!!!

As you have the I130 approved, just forget about the K3. Don't fill anything else now. It'll take a couple of months more to be process than K3 usually does, but you don't have to deal with USCI again. SO much better.

MY husband filled in july and we are still waiting in Vermont. :(

hi was reading the guides

and just after filling the I-130 my wife came to lilve in the uk with me, she got her 2 year visa very easily.

so could we then do direct consular filing?

would that make things easier

are we allowed to do the CR1 if she now lives outside of the us?

:(

CR1 is a visa and is for the alien not the USC... The USC files a petition (I-130) which has already been done.

Since you already filed and are approved it is not benneficial to do DCF as you would need to cancel the current only to refile and pay the fees again

YMMV

I-129F and K3 visa is no longer an option for you because your I-130 is already approved. Just look for the steps that come after the I-130 is approved. (after NOA2)

Congratulations!

When we first went through this process I was so green as well. When we got our approved I had no idea that we had many more steps to follow.

What status is your I-129f? Personally I think it is better to go for the CR1 visa, but that is easier said than done if it means waiting an additional few months.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

hi guys

so i take it its best to wait then and go down the CR1 route, as my I-130 is already approved and the K-3 option is no longer availible.

that seems to make sense, and ive been readinG the guides all day so im getting a much better idea of the process.

and as long as my wife's moving to the uk too live wont some how invalidate the I-130 she sent before leaving the US, i think we should be fine

i honestly did'nt think there was so much more to do!

thanks for helping me out!

No restriction on the USC's residence as it relates to the I-130 filing. What you might face are questions regarding US domicile and financial support ability when it comes time to submit the I-864....

YMMV
