Hi Folks,

Canadian living in the US...Our baby girl is coming in August! I want the baby to have dual citizenship. Anybody know what I have to do back in Canada to get the paperwork started on this process? I imagine it would be similar to other countries so as a guideline anybody tell me what they had to do in their home country?

Thanks for taking the time..appreciate it. :help:

Best,

Kev

Have you googled yet?

try this

and

This

Just google it! Works every time,.

Ok where was the baby born.. if it was born in the Canada and you want proof of US Citizenship, you have to get a Consular Report of Birth Abroad at the US Consulate.

If the baby is born in the US you have to apply for a Certificate of Canadian CItizenship, you have to fill out an Application for the Canadian Citizenship Cert and file it at your local Canadian consulate.

Hi there,

first of all congrats and best wishes for the pregnancy/baby! (F)

I just had a boy in march here in the US and all I had to do was to register his birth to the Italian Consulate, send them my Italian passport also so they could add him to it and he is automatically an Italian citizen as well. All I needed to provide in order to register his birth to my homecountry was his long form birth certificate and fill out the proper form that's on their website. This is how it works for Italy, not sure it is the same for Canada, I know I found all the info on the Italian Consulate website, maybe you can check the Canadian one or maybe someone else will be more helpful.

Hope it helped anyway. :star:
