Some Fairly GOOD IMBRA News from My Senators Office!

What I am wondering right now is if they'll also expedite us that were supposed to have been approved soon, if there hadn't been any recalls, 'cus we also were put on hold for over a month. They should work on our petitions fast as well, no?

And I also hope that the RFE will be sent to us as well, not just to the recalled petitions, 'cus that too would be a hard blow, although they do say 10.000 petitions, and there were only 1.100 recalled.

It says it will need to issuse RFEs for more than 10,000 petitions being held. So that means everyone.

Ok so if the document sais March the 6th and my first NOA is dated March the 6th then does that include my case or not?

March 6 is the date IMBRA took effect so your petition was affected. Look at it this way - if you were NOT affected, you should have had your NOA2 by now, right? Post your timeline and maybe we can clarify based on where you filed, etc.

Hi all,

Just wanted to update everyone here, and pay back the love everyone's shown during this difficult ideal.

Someone just called me from my senator's office regarding IMBRA. A supervisor there attended an immigration conference over the weekend, and she informed me that word will be coming out to petitioners within the next 1-2 weeks concerning what we will have to do!! While I wish it happened TODAY, its better news than none.

She said it seems most likely we will need to just answer 3 questions, and submit them to CIS. I also spoke about any possible backlogs, and she said that it appears that the Vermont CIS will be expediting existing recalled petitions, and that there shouldn't be too much of an issue. I'm not holding my breath on any of this....but am happy to hear the news :)

If anyone else has heard this, I apologize for the repeat. For anyone who hasn't- keep the faith- resolution is on the way :)

This is all such GREAT news!!! Thank You

I hope they start mailing them out at the end of this week....doesnt hurt to hope :luv:

I think that since they left us in the dark for over a month, that now that they announced it officialy even though saying they're not ready, they must be. So my guess is RFE's are gonna start popping up everwhere by next week.

Could anyone please explain to me what do you mean by expediting recalled petitions?

Still don´t know what that means.

thanks!

It means that the people that had there petitions recalled after they recieved their NOA2 and so close to being with their loved ones, they will get their case worked on first and formost and then they will work on eveyone else.

I assume they will get back to doing things according to recieved dates.

If i am incorrect someone else please add or correct me.

no doubt, with the file transfer i am expecting that something was lost in the process and I will get RFE'd as well..... but at least there is progress.

Forgive me for asking this but my I-797C, Notice of Action, has the notice date as February 21, 2006. What are the chances of getting this kicked back for the IMBRA law? I received a letter dated April 25, 2006 the within the week the package was in transit to Guangzhou, China.

If they need proof of mine and Xiang's ongoing relationship I have an inch thick of telephone call history to her along with an inch thick of emails to each other! I have also found a way to send her roses from the United States to have them delivered fresh to her in Nanning, China.

I'm thinking that the IMBRA law may be two fold, one because it is now law with petitions started after March 6th and perhaps maybe, just maybe for the U.S. Consulates to get caught up on the backlogged cases. I would gladly donate two months worth of weekends to help the U.S. Consulates get caught up on the visa's.

Thanks,

Keith & Xiang

Well one thing we know for sure is that with USCIS, ANYTHING can happen. They clearly have made many mistakes with this whole issue so it is possible but let's hope the chances are slim to none.

Best of luck
