Hi VJ's

Help!!! Can somebody please tell me if I can use child support as additional income? I'm a bit short for the poverty guideline for 125% for family of 3..Im a little off by a couple of hundred bucks , but if I will be able to add child support I received for my daughter It will be more than enough to cover what we need for the poverty limit. I have a co-sponsor line up but its probably not an option for us , coz for some that I read here, In Philippines they dont usually accept co-sponsor. So is there anybody who can give me some advice on this, and what exactly do I need to do, Add it to my 1040 when I file my tax or just add it to my I-134 as income..Please advice :help:

Court ordered child support can be counted. It's best to docuement the amount the Cour ordered.

Thanks for your fast reply..I do have a court ordered child support...but what is the best way for me to add it as income? Can I or should I add it to my 1040 when I filed for my tax this year or just simply add on my I-134 my 2008 income plus total child support I got for 2008. and is the stub of the child support payment enought to show as proof?...Please help!

Child support (but not alimony) is not taxable "income" (in the governments eyes it is not "income" it is sharing expense with money already taxed when the father made the money, child support is also not tax deductable, except that one of you can claim the child as a dependent).

For the I-134 it IS considered income, provided it is court ordered. Yes the payment stubs are sufficient along with a copy of the court order. For the I-134 you should state for "current annual" income the sum of your job and the child support, combined. List the employer and job title and add an addendum stating the amounts made from each. Make sure you use a separate page for each separate answer, put the names of the petitioner and beneficiary at the top and state that it is an answer to question #------ You should be fine.
