Hi All,

Do you know how the road test in RI works? What does the examiner ask you to do and how long does it usually take? Does parallel parking use a real car or just cones or something else? Do they ask you to go on the highway? Appreciate any experience you share with me.

drl

 The RI road test is so funny. You go to the parking lot on the Pawtucket/Central Falls line, the examiner gets in y our car with his clipboard, and you drive around the block. They never take you on the highway or make you parallel park.

May 7,2007-USCIS received I-129f
July 24,2007-NOA1 was received
April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well, they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit, nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !

June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again, still no decision on his case!
June 22,2010-WAIVER APPROVED at 5:00pm
July 19,2010-VISA IN MANUELITO'S HAND at 3:15pm!
July 25,2010-Manuelito arrives at 9:35pm at Logan Intn'l Airport,Boston,MA

Hi panamania79, thank you for your info. I live in Providence also, and so happy to see someone from the same city, haha. When did you go through the road test, it seems easy to pass, right?

:dance::dance: Hello fellow Rhode Islander ! I did my road test in 1985 (ancient history) in back of the main post office. If you go to the Pawtucket DMV you will have to go to a parking lot located at the beginning of Dexter Street in Central Falls. The examiner will take you around the block once and then give you the paper so you can get your license. It is super easy to pass !

Beware of the highways in Rhode Island! My son was driving erratically there last week on a weekend night, as his GPS was telling him to turn around. An officer stopped him and asked him if he had been drinking. He said "No, it's my GPS." He didn't receive a ticket and I don't know if he asked for directions or not.

Claudeth is still afraid driving around in a parking lot. Of course the Dodge is rather large so does take some getting used to.
