Can you work with only EAD... and no social??

im asking this because several people already told me i can work on the meantime my ss number is being mailed out...

i really need a job.. cuz im going crazy!!

If you have your EAD and are waiting for your SSN to be mailed to you (you have already applied), yes, you can start to work. You may run into problems though as the employer needs your SSN in order to make the necessary deductions from your wages for taxes and Social benefits. You may not get paid until after you have received your SSN and given it to your employer. As well, an employer may want to see your SS card and number before they will let you start to work.

If you applied and are just waiting for SSN to arrive in the mail, not just that you can work, but you can get paid too. I received my first paycheck without SSN. From what I heard, all they have to do is use all zeros instead of your SSN and then file taxes once they get it.

as far as applying online...

like target or best buy..

you are required to provide a ss number in order for them to process the application...

what happens then?
