Can i travel before my Green Card interview?

Recently, I got married to an American citizen.

I have applied for AOS,Employment authorisation and AP on 11/07/08.

Received AP on 01/26/09.

Should receive employment authorisation and green card interview date ,soon.

My dilemma is that I need to go to India for some personal reason,and need to know if I can re-schedule the Green card interview date and if i can choose the month i can attend?

Please help me.

it is not a good idea to re-schedule an AOS interview... avoid if possible

Most people who have tried to reschedule their interview appointment have ended up getting a letter telling them their application for AOS has been denied and their EAD and AP have been revoked.

You would be better to delay your trip to India until you have your greencard in hand.

And the time to find out that your AP was revoked is certainly not when you are presenting yourself at the POE trying to use it....

There is another option which could possibly work here: jagurdev files an I-824 (caution: adds another $340 to the petition cost) to transfer the interview to a Consulate (or the Embassy in Delhi) in India, and then travel to India staying there till the interview date (meaning trip may be a lot longer than jagurdev originally wanted).

Forgot to mention that on 21st Jan,I had seen a message on my portfolio stating that " They have ordered production of a New Card"

and now that message is not there any more,cannot understand what that meant?

Please help me.
