MONTREAL EMBASSY

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I made some changes in the Embassy info page for Montreal. I changed the wait time from packet 3 going back to interview date, it was 1-2 months, on my letter it states that they are currently booking appointments 4-6 months from the date the packet is returned. When I get my packet 4 with interview date back I will see where it falls in the timeline to let others know. Also, the form DS-160 that you have to fill out online, required you to upload an approved photo. It tells you when you upload if its suitable or not, you can continue without one, which I had to do because it wouldn't accept the one I had. It has a confirmation page at the end that you print as well as a copy of the whole form. It says to bring the confirmation page along with a picture for all stages of the process. Just for your info guys.

Yup, the letter I received also says 4-6 months, I figured it always had said that, and they just book then realistically between 2-4 months. I think they do that to cover their you know whats.

That's good news about the DS160, they let me continue without a photo, but when I got to the end I still had no choice but to upload one or else it was incomplete. So maybe they were having too many issues with it and changed their guidelines, which is much better!

Thanks for the heads up!

That is interesting cause the first time I tried on Friday it wouldn't let me complete without the picture, so while I was trying to upload one it booted me out, and then it said it would be down for maintenance and back up Saturday night. Then last night when I went on it let me go all the way through, it wouldn't accept my photo, and it had an option to continue without photo. So it must have been something they were having issues with. I am hoping for the 2-4 months for the interview....we can keep our fingers crossed together!

I was wondering if someone can answer this question(it may be a dumb one, but I don't really understand the flow charts -- brain is slow sometimes)...

How long is the K-1 visa taking from start to finish....receiving the visa?

P.s. Sorry for hi-jacking the thread, but I didn't want to make a whole new one.

Thanks

Depends on the service centre and how fast petitions are going through them, and then it depends on what Consulate you go through, Vancouver or Montreal.

We filed in May through Vermont, and interview in Montreal - took a little over 10 months to get my Visa in hand.

You can try emailing them, but I didn't have any luck with that. You will get at least 2-3 weeks notice though... I've never seen less than that.

I have a feeling mine will take around 10 months as well. And I was the same, Vermont/Montreal. I think it can be as quick as 7 months if you go through Vancouver and as long as 1 year if you get an RFE along the way. I also think it depends on what time of year you file. I filed right before the summer and there was a major slowdown I'm guesing from staff vacations. Then when I sent my packet 3 to Montreal it was Christmas holidays, so I'm sure they were short staffed again....

My personal goal was to get it within 1 year. This has really helped because I'm in no rush to move until June, so I'm not really anxious at all about my interview or getting there.
