Timeline

Well, it has been said that your personal timeline depends on your individual case AND your local field office. I couldn't find Garden City in our timeline section, but some local offices have processing times of 6 months or more. So I guess you're still good to go and don't have reason to worry yet (even though I understand how nervewrecking the wait can be). Maybe you should check here for the processing times of your local office:

And maybe other members can give you advise what else you could do. Maybe an infopass appointment or maybe a phone number you can call.

Good luck!

I filed at VSC - Local office Garden City - NY on SEPT 25 but I have not received

an interview date by mail yet: is that normal??

On your NOA1, it would have quoted an "estimated number of days". Until that number of days has passed, you will very unlikely receive any further information either by phone or at an infopass appointment. How many days were quoted?

N400 at California SC, Field office- Los Angeles

Sep 12, 2007 - Priority date

Nov 9,2007 - check cashed

Jan 10, 2008 - fingerprints appointment (letter lost due to mailing address receipted incorrectly)

Feb 7, 2008 - fingerprints done (took about 10 min - as a walk-in)

Sept 8, 2008 - Interview date (letter received Jul 18) - rescheduled at my request

Jan 6, 2009 - Interview date
