I got a flight on United out of (Omaha, Denver, LA to BKK) for $1054 total...cheapest I could find, I hope to be able to upgrade seat.

I have stayed at Park Plaza (loved it) and at Pullman (also very good) but I am looking for something a little less expensive.

Also, what part of town do you recommend for more sight seeing??? I would like to find under $50/night or so.

Thanks

not a K-1 issue... moving to regional forum

My Fiancee's mom owns a bunch of condos and she rents them for 1700-2200 baht a night depending on which one you rent. They are located close to BTS and within walking distance of plenty of food and bars. If you are interested send me a PM with dates, and I can see if she has one available. The place has a nice swimming pool, sauna, fitness, and 24 hour security, and is an upscale condo. Much better then a hotel. Plus she can give you some tips on where you should go. She was a tour guide for many years.

A few months ago I stayed at the FurmaXclusive (booked through Expedia) WOW, WOW, WOW. This was a for real 4-1/2 star hotel on Asoke about a 2 minute walk from the subway 3 minutes from the skytrain. I stayed in the smallest room and it was awesome. Rooftop sauna, workout room, bar (with daily free happy hour and 2 small pools. The service was the best I had ever had in any hotel! There is also a great British pub and one of the best steak houses in Bangkok right around the corner. Its in Sukhumvit around Soi 20 I think. I just checked online for my next trip and they have a special. Stay 2 nights and get the third for free. Also if you book through expedia you get a $50 pre paid credit card. Thats 6 nights for $48.63 a night. YOU WONT BEAT THIS DEAL.

I also stayed at the Navalia river resort. Its was nice as well and is in the backpacker area of Bangkok. Nothing wrong with it just a more laid back feel.

If you want to take an inexpensive trip look up Krabi Thailand. Its in the south on the ocean but much smaller and more laid back then Phuket. Hotel on beach $40 a day. Motorcycle rental $4 a day, private longtail boat tour $60 a day.

Don't miss the ping pong ball show.

If you don't know about it, just hop in any taxi and say "To the ping pong ball show, good sir." He'll know what you're talking about.

When I went there, I saw Santa Claus with 2 teenage chicks, and they looked far from impressed about being taken to the ping pong ball show by Santa.
