When he says succeed, presumably what he means is 'implemented'. If he means succeed he's clearly nuts. If the programs of a 'left wing' agenda are successful what does it matter what ideological perspective it might marginally represent? If a program of care (dependancy, call it what you will) meant that a man of 93 didn't freeze to death over unpaid bills, would that be a bad thing?

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I guess that's what you get from trashy media. Freedom of the press is a wonderful thing.

Talking of did you hear the NPR program regarding the 'openness' of the current government regarding media? Interesting stuff. There is a concern that while the new president's love of modern media is going to transform the way the people can view government spending (government transparency through the interwebz), he is continuing to spurn traditional media outlets and somewhat manipulate it. I didn't know for example, that the second oath swearing was so secretive with no photography allowed. I find that a little alarming.

I haven't seen that story - but if true it does give pause for thought.

In an ideal world the Fourth Estate should provide oversight of government, but I think that this is an idealised goal that failed long ago when corporate interests got involved. As evidenced by things like Global Warming, it seems these days that the news media spreads ignorance more than it does enlightenment; and that this is exacerbated by new media technologies that allow anyone to "create" news.

I think this is the story, I was listening on my way home so I didn't catch it all, but yeah, it's something that should be in the public consciousness.

Worth monitoring how it pans out, for sure.

Looks like news media hasn't done much to exacerbate anything. The polls have been pretty steady in a majority worrying about global warming. Just doing my part to spread enlightenment over ignorance.

"While 61% of Americans say the effects of global warming have already begun, just a little more than a third say they worry about it a great deal, a percentage that is roughly the same as the one Gallup measured 19 years ago."

 This is what my 10 year old does, assumes that the narrative that is going on in his head is obvious to the person reading what he writes.

You just like to disagree for the sake of it, don't you?

There's numerous other examples we can discuss.
