Hey to all who have gone through Juarez...

I really don't like doctors/hospitals/exams. ;) I think you get the point. Luckily it's not me who has to go through the medical exam! But, my fiance has been asking me what they do and I don't really know what to say, especially because I give everything a bad wrap that has to do with doctors. So if anyone has gone and can fill me in, we would both appreciate it!

Thanks.

Don't get too worried about the medical in Juarez! It is a relatively easy process. Basically you go in the morning to one of 2 clinics near the consulate. One is right next door, the other is about a block down the street. We ended up going to the clinic next door, but they sent us down the street because they were backed up.

You go in and check in, then wait to be called. They will do a chest x-ray and blood test, and that is basically all. It did not take long once my fiancee was called in, and she said they were very professional and good.

Good luck!

Hi!

Congratulations on your wedding, I loved the pictures!

Most likely I'm going to have to go through Juarez when I get my approval, and we would like to go as soon as possible. So as soon as we know Juarez sent the package we are downloading the forms and heading there. I read about getting the letter to be able to get into the consulate, but what about the medical exams? do they need the letter too? I was planning to go to the hospital one day in the morning, get the letter that afternoon, and go to the embassy the next day, can I do this or do I need to get in one day earlier to get the letter to be able to have the medical exam done the following day?

Thanks y felicidades de nuevo!

I'm assuming you are both referring to the appointment letter? Since K1 visas don't need an appointment, I was under the impression that you can head to Juarez as soon as they have your stuff from the USCIS/NVC since everything you need to take is online. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

As a K-1, you don't have an "appointment" letter, however you will have a letter that comes with the packet that the consulate sends you saying your case is ready and you can come any time for an appointment. I have read that some people have gone to Juarez before they received this letter and had no problem. I'm not sure how that worked with the medical, and honestly I can't remember if they asked for the letter at the clinic or not. I think, though, that it would be fine for you to go without it. I don't think the clinic cares if you have a letter or not.

You can always go to the window at the consulate first and tell them that you never received your packet, but that you are a K1 and they said they are ready to process your interview. They should be able to look up your case and give you a letter so that you can enter the consulate and do the medical.

Hope that makes sense. Buena suerte!
